... That's done with. I do got one question. What's to prevent someone from probing the entire universe then invading your base the second the truce ends?
I assume no limpets, armids or photons would be enabled too. Atleast till truce end.

you *should* have tons of figs on your planets from colo production over two months' time. yes - your location will be public knowledge. planets will hit L4 very quickly after jan 1, but your observation is astute. basically, you better get better ships and protect your crap as soon as jan 1 hits. also, you *could* be flush with cash to buy figs by then also.
i'll talk to vader, but one idea i have is to introduce the new ships gradually after jan 1, so perhaps there won't be invasion-capable ships at extern jan 1, but either way this idea naturally favors the players who can be online as soon as the good ships are introduced.
perhaps a 1-fig tholian with 16k shields could also serve as a deterrent.

One thing to remember. The type of player that will likely play this game isn't up at midnight just so they can run turns. This is GENERALLY a more casual player. It was a good point about mines. Those will be dealt with somehow. Essentially, edits are done and the basics are up on the website. I'll have to think a little on the added ships.

Ohh, I must've missed the bang time. So it bangs sometime soon and goes for 2 months as a truce? Wow.
Edit: Yea, if you allow people to have limpets and mines they can still do stuff like tracking the nearest 0 density sector and blindwarp torping, etc. Lots of options, a bit risky perhaps, but will take a little work to make it a true truce.

Opens this Saturday, and yes. A long truce. I had some players ask for that. They really enjoyed the last truce game I had (low turns). As an op, I hate truce games. A royal pain. But, I understand their place and why some like them. A large percentage of TW players are casual. They don't write scripts and they don't post on EIS.

As a note to Sing's question, I editted out mines from the ships at the outset. They'll be added back after the truce ends.

Would it behoove you to have small corp sizes in a game like this?
So you force a truce by the edits that you implement. Does this mean that we can make offensive actions with those resources left? Can I attack players with my one fig? Or try to zdy a planet underneath them?
And for the record, its sounds like fun. Any game that makes you think a bit more, or outside the box, is a good thing.

My only question is what about nav haz? is the ship with only 1 fig gonna have enough shields to protect nav haz during base building and if someone decideds to put nav haz's all over the uni?

if it were up to me, i'd say anything the edits allow you to do is fair game.

hehe i actually suggested 0 fig ships with no dets, so you can't attack anyone and you can't det anyone on a planet or die on navhaz. however, that means you can't twarp colo unless you want to blind warp to an empty sector next to your base - and whats to stop an opponent from logging out in your blind for the night? also, no dets means you get the base you get - no detonating planets to make the perfect base... and your opponent can overload your sector every night...
hmm re: EP, i'm wondering if there should be one teensy truce rule: no overloading your opponent's base to smash his planets. if we get rid of gentorps, the game would be pretty boring unless we pre-seeded the universe with planets.
also, with no fig grid, you might get some use out of grimy trader. raise your hand if you know how to bribe grimy...

Just brainstorming here, but...
make sure all ships have over 1000 shields. that prevents hazz deaths.
there are no photons enabled, so no worries about that.
Even carrying only one fig, I could still grid. It's not turn efficient, but doable. Given that, your base would be harder to find as it may take many, many more turns to kill your deployed figs. We've all seen how one fig can fight off several attacks with 1 fig.
No dets is a bad thing. that leads to planet buyout. speaking of that, you might want to outlaw buyouts as well.
You might want to set hazz clear to 100%
Also, even though you only hold one fig, you can capture and hold a large bubble by putting mass defensive figs in space. sure you can only hold 1 fig, but if you put a planet that makes a lot of figs in the gateway, you can land and deploy figs one at a time. with a macro, you could have a few hundred in a few seconds. that's enough to keep ANYONE out for a LONG time since there are no photons. Then you simply build up your planets in peace behind the bubble. with a good map, you could get quite a bit of territory.
Hmmm.

I have done extensive testing to figure out the grimy traders responses and here is the list i have been able to get.
You sit down and talk to the old Trader.
(Enter the subject you want to know about, blank to exit)
> PORTS
"I can tell you something about PORTS, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 50 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about PORTS"
I've been a lot o' places, but there are still places I ain't been.
The gains can be great when you're the first to find a trading port.
> PLANETS
"I can tell you something about PLANETS, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 300 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about PLANETS"
I've owned a planet or two in my time. The best way I found to keep
'em is to put fighters on them.
> SHIPS
"I can tell you something about SHIPS, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 1,250 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about SHIPS"
You'll be sorry if you get a ship manufactured by Martel Matra. They get
a much lower trade-in than ships by other manufacturers.
> TRADERS
"I can tell you something about TRADERS, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 5 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about TRADERS"
There's lots of traders out there - us, Ferrengi, the Feds and Aliens.
"Is it a particular person you be int'rsted in mate?" Yes
"Well, maybe I can be o' some service."
"Who are you int'rsted in?
Which Trader ? (Full or Partial Name) - Zentock
"I may not find anything about em, but then again I might!"
"Would ye pay 2,000 for me to do a trace on em?" Yes
"Hmmm, I ain't gettin nothin about that trader, sorry."
> UNDERGROUND
"I can tell you something about UNDERGROUND, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 600 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about UNDERGROUND"
I've learned ya gotta make friends with both sides of the law. If
you want to get to the Underground, look around the StarDock
"But if ye want to know about the Underground, ye should ask them!"
"Would ye like to know the password to get in?" Yes
"The password will cost ya 640, will ye pay?" Yes
The password today is "BEWARE OF KAL DURAK"
> MAFIA
"There are somethings even I don't know about"
"But if ye want to know about the Underground, ye should ask them!"
"Would ye like to know the password to get in?" Yes
"The password will cost ya 640, will ye pay?" Yes
The password today is "BEWARE OF KAL DURAK"
> FEDERATION
"I can tell you something about FEDERATION, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 2,500 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about FEDERATION"
If you carry too much money on you, the Feds find out someway. Good guys will
get taxed to help fight the Ferrengi. You *do* get alignment points for it.
> POLICE
"I can tell you something about POLICE, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 100 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about POLICE"
The FedSpace Police are an odd lot awright. 'Matter a fact their
headquarters are only open on odd minutes.
> FERRENGI
"I can tell you something about FERRENGI, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 545 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about FERRENGI"
The longer the game, the stronger the Ferrengi get.
> ALIENS
"I can tell you something about ALIENS, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 500 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about ALIENS"
The Library has some good information about the ships that the Ferrengi and
the aliens are using in this area of the universe.
> COLONISTS
"I can tell you something about COLONISTS, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 300 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about COLONISTS"
A fast way to get ahead in the Tradin' business is to get a planet and then
colonize the 'ell outta 'er.
> ORE
"I can tell you something about ORE, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 250 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about ORE"
Ore is necessary if yer corporation is getting big. You'll need tons of it
to defend your planets and to Transwarp your ship or planets around.
> ORGANICS
"I can tell you something about ORGANICS, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 350 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about ORGANICS"
Organics are easiest to find on Earth-type planets and Oceanic planets.

"Ask Drew about that, he knows all about EQUIPMENT"
> DREW
"I can tell you something about DREW, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 2 credits for it?" Yes

I know Videon. He's the guy who opened up the new theatre in the StarDock.
> STARDOCK
"I can tell you something about STARDOCK, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 75 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about STARDOCK"
Business has been so good here at the tavern and at the Hardware Emporium that
they had to open up their hours to 24 hours every day of the week.
> GOOD
"I can tell you something about GOOD, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 83 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about GOOD"
If you've been just a bit bad, keep trading every day. Your alignment will
be back to good before you know it.
> BAD
"I can tell you something about BAD, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 79 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about BAD"
If you decided to stay on the wrong side of the law, you'll have to work
at it. If ya play neutral, y'll lose all the benefits of bein' bad.
> MINES
"I can tell you something about MINES, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 75 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about MINES"
Mines make good fences.
> BANK
"I can tell you something about BANK, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 350 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about BANK"
You'll never see a more secure bank anywhere in the cosmos. And you'll
never see them pay a penny's interest, either.
> BAR
"I can tell you something about BAR, but its gonna cost ya!"
"Would ye pay me 250 credits for it?" Yes
"Here's what I've heard about BAR"
You can pick up some interesting companionship in there if you catch my drift.
You can choose from any of the five sexes. Practice safe orchnect.

Well, since its a truce game, offensive actions would obviously being against "the rules". I didn't downgrade any shields, so those are still there. I'm sure I'll have to put in the no overloading rule for that reason. And, Nav Haz will be at least 50%.
