I wasn't flaming you, but if you want I could, but not my style. I was curious on what was said, and wanted to read it for myself, well you have proved my point on how people try to make things look better for themselves and bad for who has ticked you off. But hey, that is my opinion.

As for being a troll, better look at my avatar, I am a very active player, sysop and admin of a few sites and mod here. I also am the site host for the sites. Including this one. I think JP is the one who is in the right. He has helped as much as he can, when time allows, we all know he has other things going, that takes time. As for the way things are going, I think the next generation of TW is going to be a success. We all need to rally and get things on the go and get it started.

You may have your beef, and all, but that was on another place, we all were just curious as to who was saying the bad about JP, and that was all, then you stuck yourself in here and opened the can of beans on the hostilities toward you. I am not going to argue the situation of the game with you, and not going to argue you are wrong or right. I just state the things I see, and read. You may have a problem with the way JP does things, that is your perogotive. I have never had any problems, and I have been a sysop and have contacted JP on many occasions for help on problems, and he has been there, and helped when time allowed. That is all anyone can ask of anyone, to let them help when they can get the time to. So if you are disgruntled cause things didn't go your way when you wanted it to, then I am sorry for you, patience is a virtue, and things do go right for those who have the time and patience to wait.

Personally, I could care less about this flamewar, as I am not part of it, and want no part of it.

lol, i read that link jp posted, saw who posted, guess that answers some of my accuracy questions.
now, i'm not taking any sides, but i will give some insight maybe as to what is going on here.
Long ago twars was buggy as hell, and JP was nowhere to be found (I believe he moved and had all sorts of other stuff going on in his life, so his hobby had to hit the side burner for a while)
Ya, it sucked for us as basically Harley and Rick held together the EIS community.
BUT.
He had every right to do as he wishes, there are many MANY things more important in life than maintaining an old game for chump change.
I know many people were very disgruntled with this, and JP in particular (have you ever HEARD of res?)
But he DID come back, and he DID fix bug after bug for a good amount of time until we got the current version we have today.
Now realize, we all pretty much play (or played) twars for free.
The majority of the financial burden was on the TWGS owners.
Now, JP is trying to make a game that twars players old and new can both enjoy and compete in, is he truely expected to do so for free?
If the price isn't right, I won't pay and I'm sure others won't as well.
But how is he to know what the right price is without asking?
Is he expected to work on this for free just so we can all have fun?
No matter what he finally comes up with for a price, he most definantly will not be getting rich off of it. TWT is not going to compete with things like EQ or WOW in equity.
This is essentially a game made for us, the twars community, only it's goal is to bring more people into that community and to KEEP them in that community, instead of like it is now, where it is VERY difficult for someone to walk in from the street and not automatically turn around and walk out because they feel intimidated or even pushed out.
Sure, there are some people who come in and start hooting and hollaring about how the game should be played on day 1, yet they have no clue about anything, and I don't miss them as they walk away.
But it's the quiet ones, the ones who log in, don't know what the differance is between server A and server B and don't know what to look for before joining a game (ie: how old it is) and just get so horribly obliterated in their first few attempts at games that they just quit without coming to the boards to complain. THOSE are the people we WANT to stay. They aren't whiners, but they don't have the understanding of the game to realize WHY they can't learn it.
I play WOW. I play on a pve server which means when i was leveling up, other high level players couldn't come along and just destroy me over and over.
I chose this because i didn't play to kill other people, i play to destroy what the game creators have put out there for me.
Now, there are also pvp servers where after a certain level, you have to go places where high level people CAN kill you over and over and there is nothing you can do about it.
I equate tradewars currently to a pvp server.
A new person joins in, and as soon as they reach beyond the safety of their capitol city (fed space) they are assaulted on every front by high level players (vets protecting their grid, the new players just become collateral damage).
I have a character on a pvp server and I stopped playing it for the very same reason many people don't stick around in the current twars.
What JP is trying to do is take away that aspect of the game and make it more enjoyable for ALL players.
On a pve realm you can still engage in pvp content, but you have to choose to do it.
Now, while TWT will still have combat, and i'm sure combat will still play a vital role in the game (how else could you conquer a galaxy without removing competition?) I believe he is trying to make it so new players can come in and still have a chance to learn a little of the game first and be able to eventually compete without having to have scripts and all sorts of third party software.
In conclusion, I think I can see where people such as bbses comes from, but I don't agree with them and I think JP's intentions for the future of Trade Wars is a good thing.
