Is there a public web-based-login script(bot) out there ala Oldtimers' coastgames script? I am looking to use a netbased system to add players to closed games... anyone out there know about such a thing? Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance

 more info
I have recently written a custom shipbuilder web based utility for TWGS - players have several choices in "designing" their ship (just some modifiers really to try and keep some balance). But, essentially it connects via Java Telnet to TWGS admin and completes the ship orders. I am still testing it out (with very good success in the last test game) - I don't want to release it and find out it modified a planet treasury in someones game, etc!! Anyway, I could use the same premise to put together a closed game signup form. I have a new website where I was going to start posting my TW related code.
Can you be more specific about what you need? Do you envision your users logging to your website first and then having access to the closed game signup form? Or would the signup form just be accessible to the public in general? Also, do you use MySQL on your webserver? It would be nice to keep a simple database of the users that signup for later querying or for a "Signed up so far" page. Of course, that could be accomplished with a flat file too.
With a little more feedback - I could probably have something ready in a matter of days.
Better get my donation button working on rgstats! [;)]

I think Vid's World has an automated system for adding players to closed games. You might want to contact Vid Kid to see if he can help.

Ok , I wrote to Jerry AKA OldTimer , SysOp of CoastGames.com
Here is his reply :
Yes it has been a long long time hehe.
I do not visit any of the TW forums or websites anymore.
I have given up on tradewars and dont play or sysop anymore. I still own a twgs but it is not installed.
I have not gotten an email from anyone asking for what i set up for you.
At this point I am not sure I want to implement it for anyone else.
If they have their own server I would be happy to give them a copy of the files i had in your site for this as well as the actual scripts that goes out and does the signups.
Basically PHP, PERL and a database are required. As well as the net::telnet module for perl.
This also will only workon a linux system as i do not write code for windows. hehehe.
If they are interested just let me know.
Email

Thank you Vid. I sent an e-mail to Jerry and with some work I can get the coding done for anyone that uses Windows and not Linux. Would be a handy addition to what we use already here on our site.

Hi everyone. Sorry but I did drop out of TW all together. I program full time for CDGcommerce's owner Chris West aka Intrepid. I do not have the ambition to set anyone up with the closed games system but am willing to give anyone who wants it the code. I already sent the code to Thrawn702 and would be happy to send to anyone else who wants it. The one code i sent really is a perl script. This one requires Net::Telnet and Mysql perl modules.
The concept is all pretty simple. A user logins, clicks on a game and they are added to a database. Then they click on a continue button which takes them to the perl script which then telnets into the server and adds them. They they are redirected to a predefined page.
You can see the text here of it
http://www.coastgames.com/closed_game_template_pl.txt
If anyone wants as well i can zip up the core contents of vidkids site and send it to them. Not sure i have my installer program anymore
If there is a programmer out there that wants to make a system around this and pass it out that is great. I know Thrawn702 should be able to get one going for Windows web servers.
Take care
Jerry

HI Everyone, I went ahead and cleaned up the code slightly. If you want the system it is at http://www.coastgames.com/closed_game_system.zip
I have not tested it since removing un needed items but its there for anyone who wants to use it.
Use at your own risk I love that statement.
I could not find my initial installer and do not have the time to remake one so you have to import the db.sql page manually and edit the config.php file manually as well.
Enjoy

Whomever is following this thread - Isn't it great to have choices! I will also be offering a java version of a similiar solution probably by the end of this week. It should work for both Windows and Linux. Darkstarbase and I are working together to implement it for him and the experience that he has with the install of my app will hopefully help me to make an easy installation utility for the masses. My solution requires the install of the latest j2ee sdk, tomcat, mysql, and editing a properties file for web page customization. It may sound like a lot, but it is really not too bad. It will be very flexible colorwise so it can mesh well with your websites. This is meant to work within the confines of a pre-existing website (php driven, or any other solution). Stay tuned...

Could you keep us posted with the results? I'm very much interested

I just checked in with Darkstar a couple of days ago and he is just waiting for some free time to finish up the setup of my app on his side. He will then give me feedback and I will post a link to the final product here shortly thereafter. So a conservative geuss is that maybe by Thanksgiving it will be totally finished and posted.

2 things:
1) vid - please o please remove jerry's email address from your post (thrawn you copied vid's post in yours too) - i'm surprised he hasn't asked you already, but posting real email addresses in the forum invites lots and lots of spam. i'm sure he gets enough already.
2) i'm also working on a php implementation. currently i have a who's online bot working (click my website link below and follow the twgs link). my solution is clearly extensible to closed game systems, but i'm sorry that its just not there yet.

Sorry Rev. Did not catch that. I removed it per your request.
