Recently, this player in the game I'm playing has been there... EVERY time that I've logged on in the last 48 hours. Its a 1200 turn game, so he couldn't be trading that whole time. He couldn't be just doing NOTHING, because there is a limit of 5 minutes of inactivity before you get logged off. He trips figs at various times throughout the day, so I know at least sometimes he is mobile.
I gather that he may think I am a threat to his base, and may be sitting on-line with a script prepared in case I try to invade.
Any other ideas? 0-turn mapping and the like doesn't take all day. I just am insanely curious as to why someone would stay on all day when they don't have unlimited turns.

just because he doesn't have unlimited turns, doesn't mean he doesn't have turns. people stay online 24/7 all the time in TW just so they can monitor YOUR movements and be ready to react by hand or by script. don't let it rattle you. play your game and forget about him.

Laff... sitting online 24/7 is fun. All those keepalives... over... and over... and over... and over... you never really appreciate the power of ansi graphics till you stare at the "Who's Online" list for hours on end.

Hi Killian
I am assuming you are talking about me. Like you, I'm an old player that recently came back. I'm getting used to the game again and learning how all of the new stuff works. I've been playing around with the TWX scripts, and I have one of them running while I'm not playing. So I wasn't being paranoid. Although I'm sure someone is out to get me. [8)] I just created my first script and I'm running it now. I'm sure it won't take you too long to figure out what my script is doing.
Thanks for playing in that game. If it wasn't for you there wouldn't be to much activity in the game.

HA! Hi Jaguar!
Yeah, that would be you.
It is a very quiet game. Its the only recently banged Classic TW game that I've seen that has any activity at all. Thought excalibur and Dr. Evil would be back, but they haven't been in a few days.
Oh well. I'm gonna check out the re-bangs of games A and C on outpost-4.com on Sunday too, THOSE games are hoppin'.
Well then. Mystery solved.

Let's not forget: 2_Sentinel.ts which is a neat little script for following the game.

Ya, sentinel, is alright, but have you ever tryed running it at 100% explored? **** it takes 3 cycles to run!

Don't HAVE to run the Cim Hunter part. Heh, ya w/ a cim check in a 100% explored...would be lengthy...but would be impossible for anyone to operate w/o your knowledge, gotta be good for something, eh? Besides, there have to be ways to improve on it;-)
I look at any script still in .ts form as potentially improve-able.

Laff... CIM hunting a 20k w/ 100% explored. That's almost not worth the kill.

Ya know... you can keep alive without sending #. In fact, I hate the Who's Online scroll. I use a keep-alive that sends #27 every few minutes which avoids the inactivity warning all together.
So... keepalive sans scroll is leeter

It is, but I find the "who's online" info to be marginally useful. Added a timestamp to my screen so I can track when people come on and off. Also do / to keep swath stats updated.
