Generally you're on a mixed corp with both red and blue players. Reds handle the money making, blues take care of the planets, grid, hunt, etc.

Hereby it is manifest, that during the time men live without a common power to keep them all in awe, they are in that condition which is called war; and such a war, as is of every man, against every man. For WAR, consisteth not in battle only, or the act of fighting; but in a tract of time, wherein the will to contend by battle is sufficiently known.

You can flip your aliment and cash as red, build your planet under a buy port and sell product, sell fighters, and depending on cit times you could also planet trade ports. ppt is just so inefficient it should not used very long.

Trade with planetary transporters and colts. Max your ports under your planets so you don't need as many.

Well Stretch when you get your planets built up, its all about buydowns/mega robbing, and world planet trading.

If your playing in a small game, by yourself or whatever, a blue can make MASS cash by planet trading IF you can up ports and find product.

OZZIE has a great Planet Trade Script, as does SupG, but then again, your running on a MUCH different platform.

Now Now... (I know old post, but dear to my heart...)

Don't jump on a guy for wanting to use a superior interface. TWarp Trading COULD be quite useful... Not everyone has to play using the same strategy.

I mean it... I used TWHelp back in the day, up till it ceased to be updated beyond 5k sec (pre Gold), and it was the BEST yet. Learn the commands, and you NEVER have to lift your fingers off the keyboard. The map layouts were superior, and it's datamining capabilities are unsurpassed TO THIS DAY. (no I'm not counting the realtime CIM Tracking scripts... etc...) In fact, I'd love to have the code, or even write a newer version from scratch... just don't think I have the time.

It was lacking in some areas that current helpers are not, namely script writing ability. TWX is the closest, but... how do you get paired ports outta the thing? Unless I'm missing something, and I have looked, TWX just doesn't think you would need port pairs... funny, that's what I like to trade at. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here... I'd love to find that feat...)

I gotta have two helpers just to equal the basic features of that one application. Neither SWATH or TWX offer the simplistic/speedy method of starting macros. (\macroname parms - no slow menus!)

Maybe some tactics have changed, but NEVER believe that someone shouldn't come in with their own way of playing. They may just figure out something you've been missing in your strategy. That's what Tradewars is good at, or was, allowing you to play your way, and still have a chance...

Stretch,
If you're still around, check out some of the servers... I've seen a number of games 5k or less with turns... sounds like something you might be interested in. As for getting it to work... I've no new ideas. I've only enough time to mess with one helper combination...
Good luck! Please let me know if you succeed.

Port pairs is a simple query in TWX. You just have to script it. I think there are a number of simple queries that should show pairs, but here's a simple one I just whipped up for you. Searches for xBS and xSB pairs. Results will be duplicated.

+EP+
setVar $classes "BBS BSB SBB SSB SBS BSS SSS BBB"
setVar $a 1
while ($a <= SECTORS)
if (PORT.CLASS[$a] > 0) and (PORT.CLASS[$a] < 9)
setVar $b 1
while ($b <= SECTOR.WARPCOUNT[$a])
setVar $adjacent SECTOR.WARPS[$a][$b]
if (PORT.CLASS[$adjacent] > 0) and (PORT.CLASS[$adjacent] < 9)
if (PORT.BUYEQUIP[$a] <> PORT.BUYEQUIP[$adjacent])
if (PORT.BUYORG[$a] <> PORT.BUYORG[$adjacent]) and (PORT.BUYEQUIP[$a] <> PORT.BUYORG[$a])
getWord $classes $class1 PORT.CLASS[$a]
getWord $classes $class2 PORT.CLASS[$adjacent]
echo "*" $a " (" $class1 ") ---- " $adjacent " (" $class2 ")"
end
end
end
add $b 1
end
end
add $a 1
end

the reason there are no twarp trading scripts is because it would be far too powerful and turn efficient and a newb using it could conquer any elite with a mere click of a button.
i fear the twarp trading script!!

Thanks a-lot Elder Prophet!

Sorry if I sounded harsh there... I just really did love the way twhelp worked... I was registered back in the day... but I can't for the life of me remember where I put it, and I'm sure I lost the reg code.

For the record, I do like SWATH, and TWX a lot. Bravo on the continued development of TWX! I'm anxious how Traitor's macro manager will affect my previous statements. Just gotta get off the SWATH hook I guess...

Believe it or not, I script IBM mainframe and AS/400 sessions in my day job... but I primarily use VBA and VB.NET with Extra and Rumba... I just haven't gotten around to learning TWX yet, and I'm ever trying to avoid Java ;-) This will be a good starting point for me... Thanks!

LOL... I'm glad you appreciated that rev. I actually said simple 3 times, hehe. You think I may have protested too much? :)
