I did and it worked pretty well. TWGS barely knows it is running on Win2K/Win2K3 better yet a virtual machine. The only problem I had was that if another VM on your server spikes the CPU then Trade Wars suffers big time. I finally put a 20% CPU minimum availablity on the TW VM to make sure it didn't get laggy.
I did all this for my test server so I was only testing with 5 simultaneous connections all running SWATH and a World SSM script to generate activity. I went with a dedicated server for my final product.

I've used TWGS with Virtual Server as well. As a whole though, I've never been pleased with the performance of Microsoft's Virtual Server or VirtualPC.
The free VMWare Server seems superior in every aspect... most importantly performance. I recently set this up on a Win2003 server w/ a dual core Athlon64, and the virtual OS (WinXP) I installed performed as if it was on dedicated hardware. I can tell you that this is a very different result from running the same combo on MS' Virtual Server.

I'm currently running my TWGS server on a VMWare ESX 2.5.2 Virtual Machine.
Runs great!
