The script below will list all of your limpeted sectors and then compare it to found anomolies in the TWX database. The anomolies indicated in the database are those "last seen" for a given sector.
Mainly used for newbie hunting or to create a list of enemy limpets. Don't expect to find an experienced player very often using this script unless they have been ejected from fed and you have just finished gridding.

ATTAC has a more interesting variant on this. It constantly checks for "attached" limpits and groups and orders the sectors by the number of times they appear. Therefore, the report is the percentage time a user has spent in a sector. More times that not, the player's home sector is in that list.

If a player brings a limpet to base... they deserve their fate. Many times tho people setup scrub sectors or are just very careful about what they bring back with them. Interestingly tho anoms can reveal patterns in the enemy's limpet coverage. Correlate them w/ port type and amts, proximity to DEs, tunnels and unexplored sectors to reveal what could be an area of upgraded ports or developing bases. Combine it with sector density to filter out common limpet gridding techniques and you might end up shortening that list even more.
Now that would be a script worth making...

I like those ideas actually. Datamining is something a lot of players don't do enough of and maybe part of that is due to the unlimited turn games. (I'm not bashing the unlims as I play those mainly).

Well in unlims it's easier to just explore the whole universe. Laff. So what's the point? Turns force you to choose your gridding more specifically. The proximity idea is one I've tossed around. While I have a few ways to consider... I haven't found the holy grail of "cluster" finding yet (groups of sector types) as I haven't really gotten the perfect weighted algo yet. Something to toss around.

The main reason I would datamine in an unlimited is due to time constraints, but I agree if you have time it is easier to explore everything. Sadly, time is something I really haven't had much of recently - at least not enough to effectively play. The 2k mile drive to and from AZ this week isn't going to help at all.

Have to pull a U-Haul trailer one-way and not looking forward to it.
