Well I figure seeing how my name is mentioned a few times and How I lost interested not even half way through this thread I would post and say this.

I would rather see Slim and SGO go at it again as that was more ammusing then this. Yes I hate UTW but no going and slaming everyone now comeon. Drop it now. It always cracks me up how, users log in real quick to get the new posts then log off write out their reply and then log back in to post it. Guess they are to use to being taxed by the Feds or to worried that they may have gotten a Limpet attached to their router. ROFL!

Example: Nobody is logging off, the "active users" list has a time-out. If it doesn't receive text within a certain amount of time it registers them as not being here. The web isn't a synchronous media, so your above question makes no sense, at all. Understand (of course not, but I can try)?

The forum displays who is online period. It does not matter if they are active, entering text or not. I have seen people logged in for hours, I have even seen on user that was logged in for over 1-thousand minutes before. I myself have also remained logged in for hours at a time without activity.

It does not display who is online "period." It displays who has been active (sent a command) to the server within a certain time limit. I code CMS systems, I know how they work. If they haven't been active it won't show them. If you've seen them active for over 1000 minutes it's because they have something that keeps hitting refresh. And no you have not remained "logged in" for hours without doing anything. Your cookie was on your system and you may have a page loaded but that's not the same as being logged in, you will not show up on the "online users" list. Understand? People are not logging out and back in, they're just hitting their refresh button. When you don't see me on the list it's not because I'm logging off, it's because I'm hitting refresh.

As for smack, I didn't realize this was supposed to be a smack thread. How lame is that. I've seen better smack from my grandma. Heck, I've seen websites that randomly make better smack.

My posts in the bangs thread made perfect sense. But since you don't play, I don't expect you to understand why. Traitor removed them because JP's biggest rule here is "no opinion comments in the bangs forum." I apologized privately for breaking that rule, but not for what I said. I could copy them into the open discussion area but I won't because my deep dislike of that server knows absolutely no bounds. Again, because you don't play I don't expect you to understand why. I don't know I would have to learn more about it before I could argue it's inner workings, until then I can only state my observations, i.e. a users posts, immediately after-which they log-off or disappear from view, no just for a period of time it takes to refresh but until they post again, meanwhile or during which there is another guest logged in and sitting there. I would assume the inactivity time kicks in after several minutes have passed, say 300-seconds or so, not conveniently after they post a new message. I do know that a user can't be logged out and receive new post information and user logon data. Also, if that is true it should more accurately be called 'Active Users' rather the current 'Users Online'. I am not going to rely on your advice alone though, as you don't seem to be a very knowledgeable or reliable person to me.
