That’s what the problem is, they have voted in and are leading by a large margin in categories they do not even qualify for, tournament, best web-site, for what? I go to their web-site other then telling me about the games the bang, it is not help to me what-so-ever... that is like me being not only being voted in but also winning for best player, top-notch CEO, and mac-daddy of TW; or whatever, I only played about 3 games last year, and in only one tournament, and I was never a CEO; so that would be pretty lame would it not! ...Why yes it would, especially if I got voted as the mac-daddy of TW! [;)]

But I say next year we include a new category of: Sheriff of Nottingham and automatically give it to Sage. ROFL

Yes i agree with you to a point..However that would be kinda up to the host of the awards to clarify categories and disqualify nominations??? I shudder at that prospect..the actions..the responsibilty..and the flames to follow

Lets just hope he's around next year to get the Sheriff award..Sysops and the TWGS that they provide tend to go away when they don't feel appreciated...I hope we can all remeber that.

Yea, those are good points as well, but it all doesn't have to be complicated, just some basic prerequisites, that everybody can agree on... or basically the outlining definition of the given classification.

Agreed and will be working on it for the next Awards.

When we have it and what is concidered a valid nomination for a category.

Meantime it would be a good idea for anyone who played in any games in 2005 (not 2006...got that?) contact everyone they played with or against and try to get some last minute votes for Best Tournie and a couple other categories! I get more useful information and answers at both Eisonline and Cabal for example...and those 2 servers are where I send newbs and rusties to start catching up while trying to help in other areas. Yes...it is sad when mass mailings go out to self glorify a server rather than try to recognize those who truly do represent the best. It is even sadder when suckers go for the bait rather than thinking for themselves.
If someone can tell the rest of us the name of any Tournie played last year at Ultimate I'd like to hear about it as I usually hear about those and this vote is first I have heard....a little late to advertise a possibly non-existent game that would be long over by now?

I agree with Father Cajone on the mass mailings to glorify a server and site/forum, I send out mass mails on these awards too when i can, but the difference is this, I don't ask them to vote for my site or server. I tell them to vote, period and by that I mean vote for what they believe in to be the right choice, and not to vote to glorify my server, I am content with my standings and will draw players on my honestness of conduct and my rep on its own. For now that is enough.

And as for the tournament runoff, I would like to know the name of any of the major tournaments that have been hosted on Ultimates server too, I think that if none can be given, then I can safely say that runoff is null and void and have to give it by default to Corp Wars, I know this may offend others, but the point is this. Where have the major tournaments of TW been held last year and up to the point of the Awards? To my understanding these Tournies are the ones that are suposed to be voted on, I may be wrong but that is my take, cause I voted on the known tournies that have been held on the radar of the major tournies. Not for a local tourney of a server, but a major toruney for the whole community.

Also on this note, if the votes are just to troll for server glorification and not for community as a whole then the whole runoff is just a joke to me and may also be nulled out, I mean who is to say if there is a better setup on Ultimate and what not, cause of the post made as the topic shows there is something going on to steer the votes of one site to just that site, not to vote on what is the whole of things.

Now here are my reasons, when I held the Awards I didn't just limit my posts to just the EIS crowd, I put it in the few major websites and forums out there, including Ultimate, and I have not asked anyone to vote for just there group when first posting, just to vote period. Then the vote steering comes in and now it seems like Ultimate has an us against them rationale going on, for what reason, to glorify the server and its suposed biggest player db, now here is the question, how long is the player name deletes set for and how many are actually active players playing in the games? I can't say for them but my player deletes usually are from 7 days to 30 days, depending on the game. I am not afraid to say this or prove it, and I can do that too.

But rest assured that next TW Awards, if I get to host them and the voting. I will have more strict access and verifications in place for the advent of people using multiple accounts and have measures in place to stop vote count stacking, this way the actual votes will be counted.

Now I have stopped venting, everyone get out and vote on the runoffs if they are still there.

Thats what confused me. IF nothing else how can you compare ultimate tw's to tw-cabal for "best website overall". How can one compare the infinite knowledge and info that tw-cabal has to the game info/rules pages that ultimate tw's has. Ya ultimate tw's layout is nice, but as far as a site i'll visit again and again tw-cabal is the one by far. Its like comparing apples to oranges. Makes no sense.

Just an afterthought about 'Tournaments'....If players look at settings using * and see a different setting than 'Tournament mode = 0' then newbs or those 'grasping for straws' might confuse a death limit game with a major Tournament...but that is still not an excuse! If that is the qualification for a tournament then how many games from how many servers would qualify? (Just my last thought trying to see how a tournament game might qualify...and it made me 'grasp for straws' in attempt to justify a game none of us heard about.)

I appreciate the support, but it has nothing to do with the current popularity contest, or any rivalries. I think it will be resolved quickly.

I don't worry about any popularity contests either Traitor, and don't like the implication that my server is bias and not neutral. I do hope you get your issues with them corrected and all too. I don't care for popularity contests at all. Just the stats and facts will suffice for me, and knowlege learned from sites like yours and EIS.
