I finished a doc on how to configure synchronet to work as a frontend to TWGS. Here is the Link:

http://server.coalitiongames.com/files/ ... ration.pdf

I hope this helps some people.

I use Synchronet BBS as well, and although I do not require players to access it, I did tie it to the BBS so they have the option to either access the TWGS directly on port 2002 or via BBS port 23. Here is my configuration:

[OP4 TradeWars 2002 TWGS]
1: Name OP4 TradeWars 2002 TWGS
2: Internal Code OP4TWGS
3: Start-up Directory
4: Command Line *telgate 192.168.0.4:2002
5: Clean-up Command Line
6: Execution Cost None
7: Access Requirements
8: Execution Requirements
9: Multiple Concurrent Users Yes
10: Intercept Standard I/O No
11: Native (32-bit) Executable No
12: Use Shell to Execute No
13: Modify User Data No
14: Execute on Event No
15: Pause After Execution No
16: BBS Drop File Type None
17: Place Drop File In Node Directory
18: Time Options...

I use the telgate command and do not have issues as well. So either configuration will work. The BBS and TWGS are on the same machine, hence using the internal IP. BBS uses port 23 and TWGS uses 2002.

Thats a good configuration too if you want your users to be able to either get in through the BBS or by direct telnet.

My configuration is for people who want to require people to register accounts in order to play and don't want the direct access to the twgs. A frontend to gaining access to the twgs.

True, and it helps to limit the dupes. Problem is they have to use their helper program to access the BBS. The BBS tends to read a command and produce an error now and again that gets cleared once the node disconnects. Still, a good idea... :)
