Big Game 2006 is over!!

The Winner is Singularity's Team. They did an Excellent job through out the game . Congrats to Singularity And his Team!!!!

The Reason the Game is being stopped early is because i caught Locustis and Caretaker Who are on seperate teams killing each other for points.....

Now if it would of been earlier in the game i would of just deleted them both negated thier points and we would continue..However after speaking to Alexio and Singularity and members of Big D's Team and Vader i decided to close the Game and announce the winners.

I personally want to say thanks to everyone who played!!!! I learned a lot and the Haunted Halloween Tournament will hopefully be as much fun!!!!

Thanks again for playing,

Space Ghost

What?
Caretaker, aka Vid Kid.
Sysop of Vids World Twgs.
Doing the something deceitfully like that, no say it is not so!
Say that just because he would do that in a major tourney he wouldn't do something similarly unethical on his own server for "Friends"
Smells fishy to me. I think I just added another server to my
dnpa list, wait I don't play there anymore anyway.

I saw thoses true colors along time ago.

When i asked Vid why he had to cheat, he responded with

"lol .. cheater ? I don't recall it a rule .. just a tactict ..
called "cross podding" had there been a written rule , that would have been cheating .. since it wasn't .. f*** you"

I guess we all know now what I have known for a long long time.

Yeah I think he was the same guy who claimed he got "conned into playing a game" with a truce and decided since he didn't like truces he'd just break it - then whined at what an Butt the sysop was when he got banned...

And as for the "it's not a rule so it's legal", while technically true, it shows the character of one who would use that as an excuse for inappropriate behavior.

Was my first ever tourney, and was fun! It was most fun to have Locutis in our IRC room pretending to be Ender the first day (4 days before game start)! LOL.

Singularity was a great CEO and I thank him for really binding the team together. Everyone on our corp spent time online either cashing, getting podded, or talking to the Reverend. It was nice to get to know some of the veteran players.

Thanks to the other teams for continuing to de-grid us and delivering an entertaining quanity of "Smack Talk" early in the game.

Special thanks go out to Coke and the_Brain for when they had oz on their planet, and they dropped figs on the planet (not knowing he was there) and he took 10k, and proceeded to put more on the planet, and warped it elsewhere. LOL.

Hey Alex, when you are available, hit me up for some lessons, cause in the last BOTE You spanked me good.

Well the biggest problem "this" BG (and it seems everyone I have participated in, their has been some big fiasco) was once again the poor edits and the lack of any anyone "supervising the game" being the major problem with this game from the start. I see that it has been asked about the points, throughout the whole game no on had any idea who had what points.

First off the game was banged using the "exact" same setup as the game that was set up for practice game. That is just plain stupid. That alone gave Space Ghosts own corp an unfair advanage. And then then we were told it was going to be "hard" to bust up for planet to get exp...well it was IMPOSSIBLE to make a planet at all. So if u lost your starter planet you would be out for the rest of the game....not very well thought out. Taking out an aspect of the game itself, the ability to make planets as needed.

The there was a problem with NOSHOWS, and I know several had signed up as alternates, but they were never contacted. And the one guy asking about it just got a very rude anwser from Space Ghost. Talk about attitudes that run off new players....he was a great example of that!

Then with no colos if u did lose ur starter planet there was NO way to get back into the game. I mean what did expect to happen to the people when that happened and they have no chance of getting back into the game??

Well the players I spoke w/ that were in this <cough> game, also thought that by day 5 of the game the game was really over, the edits were so poorly done everyone was bored stiff and it basically became a "bot wars" game. That also included members of corp 2.

And then to the guy "running" the game, Spaceghost....I was told by several members of his corp he would login for 5 minutes say bot is on and leave. No wonder the game elvoled into anarchy!!

Well my last point will be...as SG says....if u don't like the game don't play. Well rest assured I will be voting with my feet and will NEVER play in another SG edited game again!!! And I know that a majority of the participants feel the same way, altho they will not post that, for the fear of the wrath that for some reason his name seems to yield.

Peace...out!

be a man and say who you are at least...you knew the edits beforehand. I didn't like em either, but I signed up and played, and you did too, pending on who you are. But don't be a wuss and hide behind a fake name.

Alexio.....

There may be some who do think I cheat, but I have yet to see anyone with the gonads to post the where, when, and how of it for proof.

Anyone can speak about anything behind someones back and there's even a few Idiots out there who will listen to it, but when it all comes out in the wash no one can make any accusation of cheating stick to me.

However I am aware of instances where both players and Sysops have cheated against me. But I have no need to post that info because those who did, know I know, and a few have even told me they did it.

And Alexio here's a secret for ya dude, I don't give a chit anymore what people think of me, I don't need other people or players approval to feel good about my self, i don't have to win at a txt based game to boost my morale or self esteem any longer.

So your snide comment, well other then to inspire me to post this post just shows what side of the fence your sitting on.

I'm not 100% sure but i dont believe i ever stated i was going to update points during the game...in reality the points were to be added up at the end after you go thru the log and then talk to each captain to confirm

First off the game was banged using the "exact" same setup as the game that was set up for practice game. That is just plain stupid. That alone gave Space Ghosts own corp an unfair advanage. And then then we were told it was going to be "hard" to bust up for planet to get exp...well it was IMPOSSIBLE to make a planet at all. well first off if i wanted to "cheat" i could of cheated big time...but EVERYONE knows i dont cheat,,i didnt bang the game Vader did..as for being told it would be "hard" to bust up experience..who the hell told you that??? Did you look at the TWA file that was released well in advance of the game??...This game wasnt about making or farming planets..it wasnt about colonists it was about finding and capturing and keeping planets that were placed in the game from the begining.

The there was a problem with NOSHOWS, and I know several had signed up as alternates, but they were never contacted. And the one guy asking about it just got a very rude anwser from Space Ghost. Talk about attitudes that run off new players....he was a great example of that!

There wasnt a problem with no shows...all three teams were actually pretty even in size of active team players..I never answered anyone rudely about alternates i simply said i wasnt going to use alternates this game and the next time anyone who wants to play the game should sign up from the begining.I also NEVER asked for Alternates baecause i never intended on using any then when the signups were over people all of a sudden started posting they wanted to be alternates

Then with no colos if u did lose ur starter planet there was NO way to get back into the game. I mean what did expect to happen to the people when that happened and they have no chance of getting back into the game??

are you really this freaking stupid??? THAT WAS THE POINT!!! The game was "For all the Marbles" you could theoreticly capture all the marbles and lose both your home planets and still WIN the game..

Well the players I spoke w/ that were in this <cough> game, also thought that by day 5 of the game the game was really over, the edits were so poorly done everyone was bored stiff and it basically became a "bot wars" game. That also included members of corp 2.

well i know of only a few mistakes on the edits,,,the DEF odds should of been lowered on the ships so that the attacker had the advantage also the marble planets should of been upgradeable to level 6 upon capture. The havoc should of had twarp too...i should of also took away the landing capabilities of the colt...as for it being a BOT fest..tell me how to make it so it isnt a bot fest...i tried to make it less bot by adding move delay but ofcourse you cant make everyone happy....

And then to the guy "running" the game, Spaceghost....I was told by several members of his corp he would login for 5 minutes say bot is on and leave. No wonder the game elvoled into anarchy!!

what does me turning on a bot and being afk have to do with supervising a game??? Sysops should bang a game and let it go not try to decide the outcome thru involvment.what would you have me do otherwise??

Well my last point will be...as SG says....if u don't like the game don't play. Well rest assured I will be voting with my feet and will NEVER play in another SG edited game again!!! And I know that a majority of the participants feel the same way, altho they will not post that, for the fear of the wrath that for some reason his name seems to yield.

well it seems your afraid to post your own name,,,probably because as soon as i announce the next game that i am promoting you will be one of the FIRST to sign up....I do believe in voting with your feet but how about being a man and telling us who you are so that we can make sure you never have to play in one of my games again...

in closing to the coward who posted this message i just want to say
YOUR WELCOME
Space Ghost

Peace...out!

Well...

Everyone had their differences about the details of the edit. I liked the challenge, it was something new. The map may have been the same (was it? I didn't even look at that. Would've made my ZTM faster!) but everyone had the .TWA beforehand. It was a good exercize in flexibility, win or lose.

Afew thoughts on the edit, since SG asked for them...

A running points count would've been nice, but changes to the points system would've made it easier. Rather than counting kills, give everyone say... 20 lives and make points based on the lives rather than the kills. A lot easier to count.

I am a bit tired of MBBS games tho, makes bots too valuable. Next game it would be fun to have a Gold game, where reds have to coordinate and blues have to defend. Reduce the colt xport range to make them a little easier to hunt ;).

Variable settings would be really loopy. Adjust the planet trade and steal factor day to day =). "Do we SST? Do we SDT? Do I need to bust up? Hmm"

I liked the non-standard map tho, you had to really plan where you wanted to put your planets. It wasn't just "find a DE w/ no enemy fig nearby and shove it there." I might do something similar later on and alter the precentage of other x-ways. I also liked the invis, took more than a glance at the who's online to find out who's doing what.

The length... either 30 days or 10k sectors. Something to make the time go by a bit faster.

Starting mobiles were fun, takes a lot of patience to grid when you can't just do simple charges early-on. A lot of early game passive gridding, I've never had 5k grid on the 2nd day before, that was wild. One tweak tho, make them IG-able. IGs rock, they secure your base and require that people plan their invasions. More than once we were able to ride a planet with little worry, as we could always just retreat off and twarp back to safety when we were ready.

Need a kill ship. The ISS is too slow to get many waves off and the gridder had small waves. Wrote a simple script to land-refill-lift every-so-often and just sat there in a gridder letting people blast me. Nothing they could do to kill me unless I attacked back too often. So someone grids around and you catch them w/ a torp or whatever and there isn't much you can really do. We could always just bring in a saveme planet and there was no risk to our gridders other than lost turns (easily managed).

SG also asked to name potential future captains. Hehehe. Uhm. Hehe. I liked my corp, I think we had a lot of good players. I'm not sure who would fit the captain role... Flip would if his new job doesn't eat up his free time. Oz, obviously. Miss and SW headed up resources and cashing, which was no small task with the 50+ ports we had, so they're definately in the mix.

Anyway, I'm not going to get involved in all the drama here. Just want to say Thanks to my team for putting in all the effort and making this happen. I've already talked with ya'll in email, you know what's up. But a public "Ya'll rock!" message is good too.

We got a lot of good potential new players here. Some of the new players here weren't on our team and ended up getting discouraged by things. I hope you come back and play again. Based on the enthusiam I saw from our players I'm guessing there's quite a few up-and-coming big names in the mix. Good, we need them.

As usual this goes to incredible lack of intelligence...The points were based on the planets.. and the kills.. planet points could not be totalted till the end when we see who owned what .... the KILL points could be totalted thru the LOG at the end of the game i did NOT keep a running a tab of points as i would need to know who had what planets and the log wasnt going to be able to tell me that 100% of the time however the log will be able to help me keep tractk of the KILLS at the end of the game........ any other questions??
