Heh! I'm one to always try to help noobs out in a game if it's not a game I drastically want to win. I'm in this game and my corp, me and Mussolini, (lol) pretty much have the game in hand. Well, Muss killed a noob and he was complaining about not getting a chance. So to make things short, I told him I'd give him a few days to build. After 5 days of letting him kill figs and SSM, I told him that I wouldn't look for him, but that I would kill him on site if he was hitting figs. He got pissed off and said he didn't need my help and that I couldn't teach him anything. He had an L4 planet and an L2 planet build up with 300 mil cash on the L4. He was so sure I couldn't invade him that he no longer needed my help. lol It took about 15 minutes to wipe him out. Soooo...
To all you noobs out there, if you truly want to learn, don't bite the hand that is teaching you after you THINK you've learned enough.

No wonder none of these vets and elites want to help out noobs. :(

lol on the attitude. It was nice of him to have enough cash to help pay for his on base being invaded. I think you are mistaken though about one part - he did learn - don't talk trash if you can't back it up..

I feel your pain Big D.
I've had my share of those.
There was one just last week in a game who was taunting me for mothing her planets, and then when we actually started to take them did she blow the ones we hadn't invaded and CBY. I offer to help people, but some just give me the digital bird and then whine when they find themselves the owner of a shiny new pod...
Kudos for at least trying to help the poor noob.

I have experienced this alot, my thing is I have had many noobs whine at me and tell me off, I offer to help, they sound like they want it and then by the next day they are telling me to goto hell and they don't want it... which is fine by me but, if you want to learn, talk to the more exp players and ask, and try and learn instead of just bad mouth ya every min of the game. Guess thats why they stay noobs

That must be the game on Alien Base. I had to rebuild my laptop and don't have any of the databases from the games I was in. Sad thing is ideas that people had given for scripts went with the format - forgot about those files. Virus writers suck.

Big D, there are far more new players like the one you just found than ones that actually want to learn. Myabe you've been lucky in the past and haven't run into too many.

I agree with Traitor on the fact that a lot of new players, and seems like more all of the time, whine and cry. Maybe it is because they are used to games where there are "cheats" posted on the Internet and they can have instant gratification by learning a few cheats. To come into a game where it actually takes a bit of time to learn possibly frustrates them. Still no excuse for the way some of them respond, but it does make it more fun to SD them. The bad thing is having to nav/haz fed to stop their dupes...

The BYOC game on Vulcan's server was a good example of what a game should be. Competitive, people NOT complaining when they got hit, and everyone seeming to enjoy the game. Yeah, there was trash talk on FedCom, but it was what I consider "good" trash talk - everyone giving and taking and no WHINING.

Yep. It's not the attitudes of the Elite that get me down anymore. It's the changing attitude of the new players. Who wants to play when if you play at the highest level possible, people (sysops and players) accuse you of cheating or worse? Thankfully, I've somehow developed a life lately and I don't miss the game that much.

A couple of days ago I was accused of duping because I asked some people I had corped with to join a game and moth with me. The person doing the accusing has T-Edit ability, and should also have been able to look at all the IP addresses. They didn't bother to do that, as that would mean they actually were going to lose the game to someone who was playing and not cheating.
I'll corp with you anytime Bid D.

I've found there's a correlation between style of games, number of turns and
edit to the attitude of the players. I think there's something about waiting
hours for turn regen that teaches a person patience and grace under pressure.
