Are you able to connect aside from TWX? Can you telnet to the server directly? If so, then it isn't your wireless card.

If you can connect to the server correctly using telnet, then just make sure you use the same address and port number when you setup the TWX connection. My first guess is that you are using the wrong port to connect to the server. If Lightfoot's server is at tw3003.com, and is available on port 23 (the default telnet port), then I can go to Start/Run/ and type "telnet tw3003.com" and it should connect. If it were on port 2002, then I would go to Start/Run/ and type "telnet tw3003.com 2002" and it should connect. Assuming it connect successfully this way, then I would setup the game in TWX correctly. If you aren't running TWGS, then you should leave TWX listening on the default port of 23. Right-click the TWX icon in the system tray, goto Setup, Add, type in the server's address, port number, and sectors, then hit OK. Next go to the Program tab, and look at the entry for "Listen for connections on Port." Usually, just leave this at 23. You are set. Connect your telnet helper or client to 127.0.0.1, and then tell TWX to connect.

Let us know if this gets you fixed.

You haven't been very specific in your problem. In theory, TWX should be able to connect anywhere that straight telnet can. However, you have specifically stated that TWX can't connect.

Well, it can't hurt to double check your settings before going to the trouble of reinstalling windows. What does the Server tab of TWX look like? Posting exact settings and exactly how you are trying to connect will go a long way in getting help to solve the problem.

Since the problem started after you switched to a wireless network the problem is most likely in the firewall of your wireless router. I've been plagued by the exact same problem but have been unable to find a solution. Good luck and if you find a solution please let me know.

Thanks fellas. No offense taken ghoury, and I didn't mean to condescend, I wasn't really paying attention to who posted the question. I try to start at the basics, especially when troubleshooting via forum posts.

And you're right about WinXP SP2, but I haven't seen many problems with it so much lately, just when it was first released. Also, all of the problems I saw with SP2 were from the Network Install (Full Download), not the Automatic Updates version.

EP and all,
I have seen problems like this with SP2. Sometimes when this happens you might have to go to Admin controls then systems and go to telnet and stop it (not disable it) and whatever telnet program you use will work, don't ask me why it does this it just does, I have been building networks lately and found that sometimes telnet won't let certain telnet programs run if windows telnet is running. Just a thought for all out there to be aware of, not trying to be condecinding or anything, just trying to help if the problem arises again and other methods don't help.
