I want to know what you think are the Pros and Cons of different helpers, i'm currently using Swath and I like it's Status display, i'de like to explore different options and would like to know what you all use and why, I know you use multiple ones so what do you find the pros and cons of the helpers. I also run TWX proxy and find it's scripts some of the best. Thanks for your comments in advance.

I use ATTAC mostly, for one, I like the colonizer script built in to it, and the planet bust works really great, and so far it has a good paired port trade and SSM and SST, and I love the Auto explire it has, and it rarely has a problem with what I want it to do. I also use SWATH too. it has some things I like, I would like the ship capture better, if it didn't snag up at times of need. All in all they are both pretty good at what they do, but I still lean toward the ATTAC, mainly for ease of use and workable scripts availible for it.

i use ZOC for my telnet client.

care to elaborate slim? What's so good about ZOC i know twx is great i use it but what makes ZOC better than ATTAC or SWATH

zoc isnt a helper. its just a telnet client. its not made for twars. i know there are some problems with say, swath and twx interaction sometimes if you have autohaggle on or such and such. also, for example (as it was mentioned) attac's planet bust or auto explore "built in" scripts. they arent needed cause honestly, you can find much better twx versions. swath i guess does have some uses (the com window and visual map) but really, if you ask most really good players, usually they'll be using ZOC and TWX, occasionally swath for the afore mentioned vis map. i really can't elaborate much because i havent used attac or swath and even if i got a demo version, most of its uses are locked until you reg it anyway. i used to (long long long ago) use twar for windows (heh). maybe (taking a stab here) swath/attac is better for newer players because it gives them more options to do things where as with zoc and twx, you gotta learn more about twars before you can master them. (such as swath's macro recorder, IMO it's better to make your own macros because you learn the commands of the game better.

its really just personal preferance really. swath/attac/zoc its all the same, any of them without twx and you lose heh.

I use twx/swath combo.I like the hot keys for my macros and I have it set up to start scripts too.Its also nice to have the info handy,like cash and ect.I also use the bubble/deadend finder.I put it on dead end and set it for 2 or deeper and get a nice list for a home sector.
As for attac,pretty much any feature it has that swath dont have,Il just make a script for it.Plus attack is a bit slow for me.

I am currently using Swath and TWX. Swath has the ability to run REXX (Zoc), TWX, and Java scripts. Swath has some nice features such as the map, comm window, macro record, near fig, and hot keys, but I also have issues with it - mainly it closes without warning in the middle of a game. TWX stays connected and when you get Swath fired back up and connect, your macros won't work until you log out of the game and back in. I would prefer a client that has the features above and nothing else.

Zoc is an excellent telnet client, but not a true helper. You have to have scripts for it because it is not designed for twars like Attac and Swath. Its display is quick and probably about the same or a little faster that Swath - hard to tell for me.

Regardless of the client/helper used, TWX seems to be the best scripting method, mainly because of its database and the information it stores. TWX scripts work similar to BASIC with the goto and gosub and that allows your code to not be structured very well. The triggers take a little getting used to, but overall it is fairly easy to learn.

Is GATH worthwhile to take a look at? Nobodies mentioned it so i'm betting not, anyway i have swath registered and am going to register twxproxy so i guess i'll stick with those for now.

ive asked some people, no one knows, i scrounged the web. nothing. anyone have any info on GATH? such as who wrote it/tested etc...?

i've contacted the people who are selling/making gath. i am getting info from them and i will be testing out the helper soon. from what i've seen it looks to be a nice little helper that could be better IMO than some others. when i'm done testing i'll post my synopsis here in the forums.

really someone tell me why you would use swath???

SWATH works well with TWX, does everything others can do, etc. I like the way it displays information. But as others said it really matters more about your likes and [:P]dislikes. SWATH has a proven track record and continues to be improved upon. This was enough for me.
