What do people think about a script which hunts pdrop, ptorp afk scripts? I am thinking of script requiring 2 users or one bot the first one moves through out unverse waiting for drop or torp. The second user follows with ptorp ready to jumb on any attacker.
If they drop a planet- player 1 leaves figs and waits for player to leave planet. If player leaves planet then player 2 ptorps sector, then gets planet then pwarp planet into sector and attacks. Then both players land on planet and leave.
If you are ptorped - player 2 waits for attacker to enter sector then ptrops sector enters sector and then attacks.
Will this work? Is there anything I am missing?

Well, I don't know of many "ptorp, move into sector, kill" AFK scripts, seems pretty foolish to run. But assuming somebody was running this, it would require one corpie to be highly at risk getting photoned. Is this for lower or higher turn games? If for high turn games, might be better to use a two ship gridder or something. For a Pdrop, yah sounds good.
Some stuff I would add for adjustments, do you want to hang on fig until planet (slow pdrops), or kill figs, and wait for the plock? The problem, is that in general, a competent player will recognize this, and just ptorp you.

people are pretty silly if they are running pdrop afk. just photon over someones fig, then have the other guy hit a fig adj. try to pick a spot that he only has 1 adjacent fighter so his script WILL go there to fire at the other sector. photon over into the adjacent sector. then have the other guy hit the adjacent fig, and maybe kill nad xport out. the guy in the adjacent has to be ready to land if you think you can land on the planet safely heh

for the most part, unless it is a paranoid pdrop, if it is run afk, it WILL get you killed.

Yes people can learn how to outsmart scripts. That is what we thought we should do in a game when someone was running an adjacent ptorp pdrop script. Photon under a fig and have a corpie hit the adjacent fig to lure the planet in and invade it with the first corpie.

The better method of catching adjacent ptorp users is to photon under their fighters all over the place and put mines under them. If they twarp into the sector adjacent to you to photon you then they get hit with their own ptorp.
If they are using a planet thats a different story, and if its under level 5 they are stupid to begin with or desperate to save their asses. What most newbs dont realize is that you dont have to leave the citadel to fire a ptorp from a planet, I would love to see that changed so they would have to lift off the planet to fire something from the ship, the way it should be. The only hope you have is having enough Butt to invade the planet they are using while they are ptorping your corpie.

The script the others were running in this game used a adjacent ptorp/pdrop script and a level 5 or higher planet. Mines would not work. They never left the planet, it was a DoS attack script. It would drop to the adjacent sector, launch the ptorp, and then pwarp back.

Like I said, I wish that ability was taken away so they player has to leave the planet to fire, its only fair that a ship has to be used as a ship to fire its weapons, you dont see the ability to launch a wave of fighters at someone from on the planet now do you.

It wouldn't really have any effect on script usage as it stands right now. Quite a few of the really nice script lift and holo after they fire anyway. There is no real delay to lift, fire, land. It couldn't be used by an enemy for anything.

I alone these lines a quick poll: If you were runing a offensive adjacent ptorp/pdrop script and you catch somebody, what would you do? They have been photon in a neighboring sector. Do you run in and attack or do you photon any figs first then attack or something else?

Generally, lift, holo scan, move in, surround them, cap the ship, kill the pod, get back to planet. Wait a few seconds. Read incoming ICQ - "nice kill"

Even if they changed the photon firing to you had to lift, Harley is right in that it wouldn't matter if they had to lif tor not because it was so quick...and even then laying mines wouldn't work because you bypass them as long as you've been online...
