Stupid question of the day

I have never used TWX ZTM before only swath and was wondering what the source sector and starting sector were...What will they change if changed i want to make sure that i am entering the correct data into them.

The TWX ZTM has always seemed to complicated and high maintenance to be worth it. You should just use SWATH for ZTM, but turn the text output back on so TWX has the benefit of seeing it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems to me to be the best way to get a ZTM.

go to http://www.scripterstavern.com and download supg's ztm script. SWATH's ztm misses literally hundreds of warps in the game, twx's 1_ztm is too slow to be worth running. The one that SupG has posted will do a 5k sector game in about 70-80 minutes and miss maybe 5-10 warps total.

Yeah Swath's ZTM is terrible, I don't know how many times the bubbles found were not right, SupG's is really fast, and seemed very accurate the one game I got to use it for.

I agree with the above posts. The method in SupG's script was researched and developed by The Reverend, which is the most advanced ZTM routine to date. According to Rev, SupG's implementation is the best tradeoff between time and accuracy using his method. There are more thorough implementations, but the extra time isn't worth it just to catch the <.1% margin of error. It's important to note that this updates TWX Proxy's warp data, not SWATH's, so you must export the data from TWX Proxy and import it to SWATH.

On the TWX Proxy Tray Icon:
Right-click TWX Proxy;Data;Export TWX File and save as a *.twx file.
In Swath:
File;Import;(Change "Files of type:" to *.twx)Select the file;Continue

Well, the ZTM in SWATH hasn't been updated for a long time
and it gives you 97-98% of the universe in about 90 min.
That means, as you say, it will miss about 100 warps in a 5000 univ.
Maybe it is time to make some updates to it =)

For a casual player, a 97-98% accurate ztm is probably good enough, but if you want to do any sort of intensive traffic calculations or explorations, an accurate game map is a must.

twassist will give a 99.9% map within 45 minutes for 5k sectors. It has been available for more than 12 years.

Refer to my post in the ZTM Problems thread for the method I use with Swath ZTM, it has never failed me yet. It does take approximately 5 hours for a 20k sector game to run all of the passes I show there. As I see it if you use all your turns for the day then run it your still not loosing anything and you dont have to sit at keys to do it.
