Maybe someone can help me with this one. I downloaded the p-drop java script for swath and set it up and it states that it's running. However, nothing happens when someone hits my fig. It doesn't even try to warp the planet out.

Any suggestions?

For the most part, the scripts in the SWATH Library were written several versions of SWATH ago, and a few versions of TWGS also. I honestly have not tried to use it for a long time. But there are two ways to address the problem and get results faster that posting here.

Go to http://www.swath.net/cgi-bin/ubb/swath/ ... tion=intro and post exact same thing. The other way is to open the .java file and look up the author's name and email him.

First of all I prefer macros. Swath has a quick macros feature that is the best thing going. I use it almost exclusively. You might say, but how do you attack players using quick macros? I understand that it can be done but I wouldn't know because I do not use scripts or macros to attack, except on occasion when I know for a fact the other player is using them. I myself get no thrill or sense of accomplishment by killing someone with a pre-written string. That's just me, I guess, I get a special thrill out of killing the bugger with my bare hands on the keyboard!

What I don't understand is why most of the Swath scripts in the "script" menu are unavailable to me. Of course, I understand why the evil scripts are subdued when I'm blue, but why is the Ether Probe script and World Explore script NEVER available, it's always subdued?

Sent tech support numerous queries on this, never got an answer that I could decipher.

All around though, I love SWATH, and will most definately continue to use it. As for the scripts at the SWATH site, here's what I've found. Move Explore V1.0 has NEVER worked. It fails at startup every time. Vito Trade World shuts down for no apparent reason at all, sometimes it shuts down when I hit a fighter (even though I'm in aggressive mode and my kill options are set). Other times, it just shuts down in an empty sector. It also turns RED on me and starts warping back and forth from the same two sectors over and over again for 20 minutes, all the while saying something like "The Ugliness of sector 6 is sector 284 be careful you don't start XLooping in bad space." Or some such nonsense. Tradeworld shuts down for no apparent reason when it hits fighters, or for no apparent reason at all. It also shuts down when it hits a port that has no product, and I get the prompt "The port ran out of product." Why that would shut down a trade explore script is beyond me. Shrug.

I have found that there isn't a single script offered at SWATH that isn't full of bugs like these. The Planet Drop script doesn't work at all either, someone hits my sector, it just sits there doing nothing.

Thought I'd share my experiences after using registered SWATH for over a year now. I can see that I have no choice but to learn to write my own scripts, but, when I'll find the time to do this is highly questionable.

Thanks for reading

The Ether Probe Explore and World Explore scripts will be available in the next version of SWATH.

Stein, make sure that the World Trade Script you building into SWATH wil have the options to either just trade at a new port and move on, or to port pair trade untill the port run out of product, and then moves on... Also it would be nice that you would add an option to just port pair trade automatically when you bring up the port pair list.. That would be excellent!!

Since you do not wish to listen to anyone else. (All because of your 'I know more than the Author' attitude.) I will state it again. As I am sure that others, just like myself, are tired of your bull.

All of the scripts that are available for download, on the SWATH script library. Are nothing more than PLAYER, I repeat, PLAYER made scripts. None were made, in any way, by Stein. And only one is made by Mac.

All the rest were created by players, just like you.

I, as other people done, have already stated. All of those scripts are old. They were created many version of SWATH ago. And most, if not all, were created before TWGS/TW2002 v3.11.53 came out.

As such most, if not all, of the scripts will not run. As the commands/api that was used to create them. More than likely do not exist in the current version of SWATH.

And as for the rest, if they do run. They will not run properly, as the SWATH command/API has changed many times over. Also TWGS/TW2002 has changed in many ways since .53.

But, before you go an stated that you know that they are player made scripts. And that Stein had nothing to do with them. Then why do you keep bringing them up. They have no baring on SWATH in any way. But, they do have a baring on the person that wrote them.

And unless you stop looking for a script that is created by a full-fledge programmer. You might as well stop using any script created. Because, most of the scripts currently out. Yes, this include those REXX/ZOC and TWX scripts. Were not created by full-fledge programmers. And all of them have problems.

One final statement, If you are having problems with any of the player made scripts. Then you need to direct your question/issues/bug reports directy to the author of that script. Do not post any more wrong accusations about SWATH. All because your own inability to use a program. Or because of a VERY OLD PLAYER MADE SCRIPT.
