What is this? Not I am sure that it is new. But really starting to take on a big forum. Why is it that people what to take other peoples scripts and put there name on it like they wrote it? Does this get you attention? Does this (for a shor time) make you feel like you are someone?

I know it is hard for useers to know really were the scripts that they are using, came from. I really am not hitting you.. I just want to know what the people that are stealing other peoples work to make if fun for everyone, are doing so for.

Oh, well. Here is a question that will invoke a lot of childish responses.

Res I do love your work.
Rev I do love your work.

Res and Rev both have good scripts.. but please rewrite your post so that people can actually understand what your trying to say... it looks worse than what a second grader would write.

I'm curious... who are you running into that is "stealing code?" Who are they stealing it from? I've never really noticed it being a problem.

didnt realize that Kemper.. someone told me once that Res wrote scripts and I used one with Res Judicata listed as someone who helped with it. Made an assumption. ;)

Well... Sometimes people edit scripts and then put there name on it.
Do i agree with that? NO.. but people do at times! sad to say, but true.
Me.. I just fix what i want and save it as is... hardly share my scripts tho, so...

I know Rev makes scripts , Res I havent seen any of his unless its his own. But are people stealing your scripts Chris? It sounds like you have a problem about people stealing yours. I have seen yours all over, it keeps posting off Fedcomm, "This Script was made and given to you by Chris Collings". Is that a little too much posting while running. I noticed this at vids world.

Well Chris you'll learn from the start in this that people all want their names up in lights when it comes to scripting and who's scripts are better. When I was with WolfPack, I and Wookie wrote several scripts together and some separate. People took alot of the basic parts of the scripts then expanded on them and claimed them for their own. But for us (better to say for me since I don't know how Wookie really feels about it) it doesn't matter as long as we know that we were helping contribute scripts to help make the game easier for newbies and better for us Vets. If my name's been stripped from a script that's passed around... so be it.. I know the work I've done and the accomplishments I made in making it and that's what counts to me.. Otherwise I would have applied for Copyrights and attempted to enforce them.. (would take waaayyy too much time to make it even worthwhile).. So have fun, enjoy, and be satisfied knowing that someone thinks highly enough of your work to claim it for their own.

I think what Chris Collings is talking about is Revs make & break script.
Being used and someone's name was being posted like Rev's make and break script.

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE

Rev entered a game and spotted IT in the dailies .
Rev said it was his script with the "output to dailies notice" was edited.

I think we all would know a "REV SCRIPT" anywhere.. In my opinion Rev is the best script writer out there. He has dedicated 10 times as much time and effort as I have in the ones that I wrote. It's been a couple of years. But I tell you there are still scripts of "REVS" that I use over my own versions that I wrote since he was able to master some of the technics of reading info faster and better than I did. I learned quite a bit from reading through his scripts. From everything I've seen out there "REV" is the best script writer around. KEEP IN MIND THOUGH THAT HE KEEPS HIS BEST WORKS MOSTLY TO HIMSELF AND HIS MOST TRUSTED TEAMMATES, so there are quite a few out there that I have had the pleasure of being hit with but have never been able to use.. LOL

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK REV.

The Founder.

Editing scripts is great and all. Taking out credit is not. Most script languages allow for comments. I personally frown on displaying the author everytime the script is run. The reason I say this, is because I frequently modify all the scripts I get, I try to leave credits in place, and add a second set, detailing what I did. Thus we both get recognition. Now where this becomes a problem, is when I start up my script and ohh... 5 people have modified it, and all five of them wanted to remind you of it every time you decided to run the script. Wow... that's great and all, but I have other info I'd like to show up.

Thus I tend to remove those announcements from my script, or "comment" them out. I have not distributed my scripts, however, it is possible that at some point I'll put them up on a page. At that point I will try to give everyone credit who made the script. Stealing Code is not cool. ALWAYS leave a comment that says someone worked on it. I've seen programs with pages of comments of the differn't people who worked on it. And you know what? Those scripts tend to be the most refined, best working ones I've ever used.

Thanks,
Kassah
