SysOps/GameOps, please give us warning if you are going to shutdown your server to bang a game or whatever else you may need to do. I understand there are times when this may not be possible, but it would be nice to give a couple of minutes notice..

I was in a game tonight where "rebanging game, server shutting down" was the only message I received. I had just ptorped another player and was going for the kill when this happened. I "almost" couldn't bring myself to attack the player since he was still offline when I logged back in - probably should have SD him instead of letting his pod fly.

It would have really hurt if I would have been doing a base invasion and logged back in to be hit by cannons.

I know that sux, I at least give a brief info on why the server is going down and give it the 5 mins to let players get safe if they are at keys, and if the players are on my ICQ I try to let them know there too, just to be curtious, this is if I don't have enough time to warn at least a couple of days in advance.

Good servers have a set day and time to rebang and do maintanence. This time should be posted on webiste/forum/server.

Mine is on Sarurdays at 7:00PM Eastern time, when games need it, unless it is an emergency rebang, then it gets it on the fly, but I at least try to give the players on the server warning of the rebang.

I always use the 5 minute warning. Plus I go into the game and let the players know to get safe.
Now I did have a few times computer lagged out and I had to re-boot computer with no warning. That is beyond my control. Sometimes windoze just farts and desides to bog down. When that happens, the games get so laggy it is almost impossible to play. So reboot is only option.

Guy's I might be guilty of that. I promise in the futher to give at least 5 minutes warning if not more. Sorry if I've did that, also several nites ago we were having a bad electrial storm and my sever was up and down up and down. have since added a battery pack to try and smooth that out.

Had 45% - now 0% but no great accomplishment in an unlim. I was just lucky in getting a quicker start and finding what I was looking for so I had the resources needed. If the tables were turned on assets, I would probably be the one with a 0% grid.
