 Closing Down a Game

Yesterday, Singularity started a game that he seemed to have closed down in the first hour of the game. When Master came into it, he was later #SD#ed. He complained to the sysop that dock was already bockaded in the first hour or so of the game and the sysop posted that he was going to be writing a new rule about closing down games early.

The question is this: How much time after bang should we wait before engaging in closing down the game if no more players show up?

depends on the edits [:D]

seriously tho...
I would say that depends on how long you want to play that game with those edits. If you want a quickie, then 15 min. If you want a challenging game that will take a while, then never blockade it.

Hehe. I did it for spite. Altho, seriously, it wasn't much... someone like Traitor here could break it in 10 seconds (the thing about a circle, it's never ending...)

next time blow SD and you won't have to worry about them complaining about closing it down.

Honestly,

If there is a 'truce' I generally don't play. I lead a team awhile back in a tournament, there were no rules posted about blockading stardock or anything else, so that's what we did.

We were deleted, lol.

So, honestly, when it's like that, it's because people feel they are at a combative disadvantage. *hint* If your at a combative disadvantage, go play cribbage....

just my 2 cents

Does that mean that the good players have to play using handicaps like a horse? Blockading dock and running ptorp scripts from dock are a standard proceedure for the players in Singularity's corps. His corp did the same thing in the Ancient World game at Vulcan's Forge not to long ago. There were no complaints of us doing that then.

Are you saying, Traitor, that the good players have to pull their punches?

That was kinda like the situation here. This was a normal game with no truce indicating that it was for noobs. We employed the same tactics we used in other games. The only differance was that a trader came into the game that has had an history of complaining. (One of his posts during the practice games for the Corp Wars draft game was "I can't get TWX Proxy to run so I quit Trade Wars forever". No joke.) He complains to a sysop who seemed to not like the idea that games should be closed down so fast. Hence that is the reason for this thread...to investigate what the majority of players think about closing down games in a hurry. For after all, the players are the ones really making the rules...not the sysops. Otherwise, sysops might as well not make their servers public.

if people complain, kill them, then they can't complain in game anymore.
i hate people who would rather cry than learn.
as for "when" to close down a game, depends on edits.
also, depends on what you want, if you want self gratification, close it off before anyone else joins, if you want to play a game, cby and go find a game with people in it.

Slim

p.s. i pwn at cribbage :)
