Bumping the thread,
Thanks FC for the update on Maggie and I am hoping to hear from Peacekeeper soon, and will keep all informed on his situation, he lives very close to New Orleans and has workers, family, and boats involved in this disaster as well. I am hoping all are okay, I am also hoping Raz is okay too. I played against him a long way back.

Bump, Bump.
Just sharing what going on here in Florida. The gas prices are jumping 20 to 40 cent every hour or two, most prices are around 3.50 to 4.00. Not that gas is important, but this will help bump the post. People are fighting over gas too, ive seen it twice today. Some stations are completely out, making things worse. Anyway, i hope everything gets better soon, this is sad for everyone.

It's bad here in GA too, one store owner was killed trying to stop someone from driving off without paying for gas. And gas is in the $3.00 to $3.25 range here.

wow...you all come on up to Louisville, KY we are $2.80/gal - the prices actually went down .39 / gallon for the holiday weekend. I am feeling very fortunate these days.

Can anybody elaborate as to why the gas prices are jumping so much? This is not the first hurricane to come through our Country. To my knowledge there was no fuel depot that is anywere within the vicinity of New Orleans, which might have affected our Nation's fueling concerns. Is the outcome of Katrina just being taken advantage of for a quick and easy profit gain?

On a positive note earlier today CNN captioned one of their interviews with "Bush On Katrina", I could not help but wonder who the genius that put that one together was. LAFFFF

Well Rex, the nation gets between 30-35 percent of its domestic oil supply from the Gulf of mexico. But the oil rigs arent the problem, they are running fine. Its the port refineries. 8 out of the 10 that are in the Gulf region are disabled and 2 are running at a limited capacity. Yes, it seems everybody thought it good to put the majority of the refineries in one basket so to speak. Since the oil cant be refined and shipped localy, its being shipped in from greater distances, which means the price goes up.

If I recall, did not Bush use his grand authority and great sense a few months back to devert a large quantity of our fuel to our national reserves for use in an emergency, (which was one of the original reasons (or excuses) that gas prices started inflating for in the first place... well anyways all things considered, I would say this qualifies as an emergency, what say you Mr. Bush?

Yes we need to keep it focused on the ones that count in this thread, all the others out there. Then the Katrina thread is for them.
Bump, bump
