I just want to get some opinions on this. Is it a good or bad idea for Sysops to play in games on their own servers???

This one is a touchy one ExVex, some sysops can play fair on their servers and some cheat using T-edit, but the general concensus is that it isn't good for a sysop to play on his own server. It is a major no no. And it is why I don't play on my own server, and why most good and honest sysops don't play on their own servers. The reason is to keep the temptation from using the T-edit away from the sysop. Therefore only the sysop should not play on his own server, I hope this helps you in your question!

sysop playing another server = good

From my $.02's worth... 99 times out of a 100, if I see a sysop in their
own game, I won't play that server. There are a few sysops here that I
know of that won't cheat under pressure, they're that other 1 time out
of 100.

To put it simply, don't do it. IF you just have to play a game that you made, have another op bang it for ya on their's.

Everytime i have played on a server that the sysop was playing on, something fishy happens, and i am learning to avoid them like the pplague, and i think that sysops should not play on their own servers , this way there is no su****ion of them cheating

I have played on my own server, got my butt ripped apart, so I only play on a BBS game now.
You guys are too good with the scripts for me, I have no idea how to counter them. I was asked about a player on the Diablo game if it was me, And no Convict isn't me. He whooped Uncle Sam good, at least beat him out in fighters and planets. Good job Convict, even legends can be beat! Sam conceded that game.
But generally I will post I am in game when I am. I had a test game up that I posted I was using editor to test stuff out, STILL GOT MY ARSE WHOOPED!! Of course I didnt use TEDIT to give advantage while I was being demolished By Grom I think it was when I first set up the D&D game. I took it like a lousy player and quit. Haha. I poke around in games and watch others play and still ain't learning anything.
So I play at BBS that I won't mention so you guys dont come in and whoop on me.

PS My wife does play in one game on server and she dont know PW to tedit and if she did she would have to figure out how to use it. Not that that is hard to do, just she would rather play in her own style. She also does not use scripts cept movers and stuff like that. I tried to show her how to use macros and that was very frustrating. So I told her to figure it out. She knows how to record them from Swath and then use em, but that is all she knows [:(]. Hey keep em barefoot and dumb heh? No offense ladies. [:)]

lol, the best way to counter a script, is know what it is doing.
if you know what a script is doing, or attempting to do, you can therefore guess it's triggers and it's commands.
after that, it's just figuring out how best to get around it.
i'll give you one example.
long long ago, i was playin a game, it was me and Angus Thermopyle against like 5 guys. for some reason Big12ozHog joined the other team and started chasing me around.
He ran me to dock and was sitting above it waiting for me to lift.
I figured, ok, he is using a script that triggers off of me doing sector entry and will shoot at me.
so i do this.
i lift, wait half a sec, and land.
i get shot once.
but that is enough XP to make him not fedsafe any longer.
Angus warps in from the backdoor and poof's him.
no more ozzie.
now, ozzie is probably one of the absolute best script writers in the game, and also one of the best players in the game.
however, with a little thought, some teamwork, and quick fingers, anyone can beat any script run by any player.

My reason for the original post was simple. I dont play on my own server except the test game which is closed. I find that even if the sysop playing on their own server is one of the most honest straight up ppl on earth, the fact remains, the have access to Tedit. If they kill, find, or anything else the su****ion of tedit will always be there, nuff said. Im playing on a board right now were not only does the sysop play, his co-sysop does as well. I think im gonna bail on that one, rofl. Another funny thing was i posted something about the co-sysop on their forum, and lo and behold, the post got deleted.....i think ill go out on a limb and say, cheater cheater pumpkin eaters! But they'd probably delete that too....[}:)]

For my 2 cents, I personally will not play on a server that the sysop plays on. I don't think its fair or right. Having that tedit is just to tempting to most, and theirs enough servers around where it should be an issue to find one and play their.

Yeah they do slthough, what it filters out can be a derrogatory slang for a hispanic person, just look at the letters that are missing. Which goes to show they have the filters too high! Because those letters are part of a whole word. Go Figure

But Vulcan you can play in game with me on your server, I trust you!

Bad thing as has been said, if you kill or invade a base, you will be accused of T-edit use. Even players who have nothing to do with a system have been accused of being a cheating sysop when they take someone out quickly (usually by someone close to noob skill that doesn't understand the tactics being used).
