Compared to you no I’m not a newbie but compared to the skill J has shown in the games I have played against him I am a newbie. I have learned a lot from playing against him from how to read edits to the importance of probing in a game. J is a great player, a skilled scripter, and an overall friendly person. who will be missed buy quite a few of us players.

I feel weird posting a question to you here as it feels like Jhereg's wake, but how do you learn from playing against someone?

I don't think its inappropriate at all to ask questions in this thread, Akor. Jhereg is a fantastic player, scripter and person. But what I think most of us will remember as his greatest contribution to TW is his teaching.

I learned quite a bit by playing against (and losing to, heh) Jhereg. When someone nails you, you need to spend some time and review what happened and figure out how and why they got you. If you can't figure it out, ask them. Jhereg has killed me more times than I'd care to publicly admit, and was always perfectly happy to explain what he did, why what I did was stupid, and what I should have done instead.

Edit: And it's not like he's actually dead or anything, just retiring. I'd be highly surprised if this turns out to be a permanent retirement.

J you da man the past two years in TW!! Sad to see you go, I never got the chance to corp with you...just lose against you over and over again! You know you'll be back...this game always draws you back in!

I do die from time to time, but its fairly rare now. I'm a much better player and killer now than I was when I first started and Jhereg was pimp slapping me down on a regular basis. Course, a lot of the really really good players have retired, so that makes it easier to survive too, heh.
