Well, I've caught up on the threads that I have purposely avoided for the weekend. My opinion is as follows;
On the night of the game, I had a phone call 2 hours prior to bang, I needed to be at my parents house for a while my mother ran out (My father requires 24 hour care) The morning/afternoon of the game I sent out an ICQ to all members of the corp with a simple Day 1 game plan. Get to dock and trade down your ship, giving me your extra cash and figs. That was it, plan and simple. A few of us blues would PPT for startup and hopefully we could get a red going before turn.
My expectations were not very high and I did not know anyone on the corp outside of my homie Slim. I was prepared for the fact that a couple of the players would be slightly green. I did talk to most, far in advance of the game and quickly chatted about Skill Level, preferred duties and such. In hindsight, I think I am somewhat gullible, for I believed everything everyone said.
I was at keys for probably the first 5-10 mins of the game and had to leave. The only instructions I left was make some cash, which I figured was really straight forward considering the only means at this point is for people to PPT. I was gone for about 2 hours or so, and upon my return I began to try and sort out what was happening.
Slim quit the next day, when gun and I were caught cashing by Psion (Nice BTW). I made a bad decision and returned to a SDT site that wasn't 100% secure. At this point I was ready to throw in the towel, but decided that I would not let down the rest of MY team, and finish this game, no matter where we place. Lucky for me HHH replaced Slim and has been an awesome corpie and has helped keep the team organized. (Props HHH)
I was upset that Slim quit, stating that the game was over and we had not a chance. I'm not a believer in the "First In, Gets the Win". I let it go, because of what Slim told me happened between him and Smokey. I have been in corps where I don't get along with others and it's the worst, best thing was to let him go and replace him as quickly as possible. I was not interested in being middle-man between Slim and Smokey.
Slim's departure from our corp aside for a minute, our corp has had to overcome a seemingly endless string of problems. But we have, and are far from out of the game. I would like to add that Smokey has stepped up and taken an active role in our corp, ensuring our survival on many nights.
I have no place in this disagreement between Slim and Smokey, nor do I wish to take part in it. As far as I am concerned, this is a personality dispute and has no bearing on either player's skill level.
You lads need to punch each other in the face, laugh about it, then have a beer together. It’s not worth arguing over.
