 Unexpected behaviour during invasions..

I'm note sure if I am reading this properly, but one of my players reported this to me today:
He's in a ship with 400k figs, and 16k shields... OFF/DEF odds are Off - 3.0:1 Def 4.0:1
He invades a planet which throws up no Ion blasts (I assumed it was mothed) and sends off 414205 fighters worth of damage in Military reaction fighters... and he dies.. should he have 1795 fighters left?

Well, my first guess is that the defensive odds are incorrect. Also, just because the cz shows 16k shields does not mean it is a full 16k. I would recommend checking those defensive odds. Since planet figs only have 2.0 odds, if a ship had 4.0 odds, that would mean it would only do 200k damage, not 400k.

I would guess that you didn't have as many figs/shields as you thought you did when you actually landed. A continious cap from when you last checked your ship out to when you actually landed would be most helpful. I seriously doubt it's a bug, most likely you just messed something up :P

And since the planet was only L4, you might want to try a photon landing to avoid those pesky reaction fighters if you're worried about being podded. ;)

Wasn't actually me who did the cap, but a player on my board (I'm the game-op)

I'll ask him to do a total cap from start to finish and see if there's anything he missed...

Here's a question though... I have mothed some planets down to under 200 shields, and when I came back to do a photon - it never works...

I try using a swath macro but it never works.. I always end up against the planet fighters - granted, the photon duration is like 5 seconds, but the macro should let me on in time.... Any ideas?

The photon just keeps you from getting blasted by the cannon you still have to kill planet figs.

Nod, DF is right. Photons will keep a planet with under 200 shields from firing its Q and from launching reaction figs. It doesn't allow you to completely bypass the fighters, it just stop the military reaction (offensive) fighters from attacking. You still have to whittle away the fighters normally to capture the planet.

yes, photons only eliminate offensive threats, you still have to get by the passive defence of the fighters. you are the op... are you *positive* that it has 4.0 defensive odds?
