Who says you have to retire to be HoF?

Jon Rosen aka Jackal was a fine man for years. People get strange when they get cancerous, even before they know that they are. My sister turned from a decent person into a ***** from hell 2 years before she was diagnosed terminal.

Jon got weird way before he knew he was effed, same as my sibling. Got worse after he knew what was wrong with him. He does not belong in the Hall of Fame just because he croaked, however.

Buttt......Jackal had a habit of cheating in games. I know, he tried to help me. In Lotto. Cheaters don't belong.

well, look at any other hall of fame... thats pretty much my only reason. basically, its like this
lets say retirement is NOT required...
we vote Xide in this year.
he disappears from the face of the earth.
a few years from now no one remembers who he was.
(yes i realize its farfetched)
but my point is, while sure, we can "speculate" that xide will be remembered, its not proven until he is gone and we remember

Res Judicata on most counts deserves to be in the HoF IMO. he has made many popular edits and done much good. However, he HAS also done many things that greatly overshadow the good he has done.
however, is known, and he is retired... so he using my rules should be voted in before Xide or Traitor.
im sure many people disagree.
some may assume i have some sort of vendetta against Xide and Traitor... very untrue. they are two of my favorite TW peeps whom i corp with any chance i get and talk on icq to them all the time. i also agree, that even now, i KNOW they are HoF... i just don't think it's their time yet
(come on, like anyone will forget what they've done)

but, its just my opinion

Well, its a "Hall of Fame", not "Hall of Infamy". He cheated in his own major game. He helped his friends to win it. Its the same reason Pete Rose isn't in the HoF. When you impune the integrity of the game, you don't deserve its highest honor. Jackal wasn't a terrible guy totally, but he's one person that does not deserve consideration. The only thing he really ever did was start a big perma. He also cheated in his own major game, was nasty and demeaning to women and a generally not nice person. If those are qualifications, better than Jackal belong then.

On some level, I agree with Slim. But, how can I NOT vote for myself? hehe.

And for what it's worth, hELLCAT changed the face of the game too. He wasn't the first killer, but for a while, he was the best. For a while everyone wanted to be like him, and a new style of play emerged.

Rose played for the reds i thought not the sox. You got your baseball mixed up. Hmmm no wonder the expos wanted to leave j/k. There are lots of people who have helped change the game, thats why its such a hard category. I just voted for what was most important to me.

I think the Hall of Fame is for whoever (or whatever) has had the biggest influence on Trade Wars. Just because someone is memorable doesn't mean they had much of an influence. Likewise, just because someone is still active doesn't mean they haven't had a large influence on the game.
