ATTENTION ATTAC USERS:

New version of ATTAC still contains some kinks that need to be ironed out. If you do not have the game experience to work around software related issues ("bugs") be wiery of upgrading to a later version than 4.1.7.

Earth is currently working on issues that have arisen since the public release of 4.1.8 and now 4.1.9. Veterans or experienced players should upgrade to help Earth in troubleshooting problems.

I have posted this message as an active ATTAC user only and wish no one to have problems integrating the new versions of ATTAC.

ATTAC is a good product. Earth can and does fix bugs. ATTAC is under constant development, hence stuff like this happens. It will be fixed I am certain. I do not use ATTAC, but others do and it does work.

I am hoping to prevent them from walking away from ATTAC altogether. 4.1.7 is a very good product and stable. However the new version is not! I use ATTAC everyday w/TWX.

A few points:

1. 4.1.8 was a tremendous upgrade code wise to support numerous new things.
2. REXX scripting engine was upgraded, It is possible you are having a DLL conflict. Reinstalling may help if the new regina.dll was not registered by windows properly.
3. I received your emails and i will get working on those issues ASAP.
4. If you can gather all the bugs you found and put them into 1 email to me, that would be helpful.

Lucky Dog, I read your post. But what do you think the general reaction is to a thread entitled "Beware of ATTAC"?
Based just on the thread title, I suspect that more than a few people will think that they should stay away from ATTAC... that it is dangerous, that you are blowing the whistle on ATTAC. Of course, they might not know how to spell attack and just assume that you are threatening them too.
But if your intent is to warn current ATTAC users of some serious problems, then you should delete this thread, and create one titled "Important note for ATTAC users" and then offer some constructive input that might help them avoid problems with the new version.

The name of this thread alone is likely to hurt earth's revenues, and I don't think any of us want that... except Stein [:P]

Lol, I did read the post, but as EP said, the title was alarmist. I was just trying to reassure any who misunderstood.

I too am an advance user of ATTAC and the thread title would have chased me away if I were a Newbie, I am helping to solve some problems in ATTAC as well, Lucky use the windows search and tell it to look for ATTAC v4. It will look up all ATTAC v4 and display it, look for all instances of ATTAC, delete the current dll to get rid of the dll conflict, and all ATTAC info in the ATTAC folder except the reg. data and the folder it is in, and in some instances you might have to remove all ATTAC instances except the ATTAC folder in program files, in this folder you just delete all but the reg data, but make sure you leave the folder it is in intact and exactly where it is, then reinstall ATTAC and see if that helps. I had similar probs when beta testing it and did that and it helped clear up the problems I had, also when you restart ATTAC erase all your saved game data connections and remake them, as they are from earlier versions and not compatible with the current version, but to save a headache either write down your old settings or copy and paste them to the clipboard and reinput them in the current ATTAC.

If that doesn't work then if you have somesort of registry manager, then check all registries for the previous ATTAC and delete them as well and reload everything, and see if that does it, but I don't think you will have to go this far.

Let me know if this helps. This is for all to try if they have any problems and need to try to fix it, until earth gets back in town, and gets a chance to look at the data being sent to him.

And a thread like this might hurt earths revenues, and Stein might benefit from it or not, being they do work on some things together for some projects like the TWXSync server, and other projects that might be in the future.

It is not my intention to dissuade people from ATTAC but to keep them from judging the software by the inherent bugs of the new version. I will concede to having the threads deleted no big deal. However something should be posted, as it has not been until I, in reference to working kinds out of the new version. That is my objective. To keep ppl from judging a book by its cover although the method is in scrutiny.

Then, in the far right column, you will see an option to edit the thread if you created it. Then just simply change the name.

I know you had no intention of scaring people off from ATTAC, and I commend you on reporting the bugs, though some bugs don't seem to show up til the final release sometimes. If you have had the chance to try my suggestion, let me know if it worked for you.
