Slim, You are one of the best. While I respect your style of play and your reputation, I just don't think you'll ever understand that what you call "becoming a better player" is completely opposite to my preffered mode of game. One is only as good as his script.
There's plenty of "competitiveness" in a game where you cash in billions worth of alien starships for billions of fighters. A game like that just *starts* getting competitive after stardock is destroyed! I agree that a lvl5 or 6 alien planet is generally a bad idea, but when there are 6 of them it makes it a worthy challenge! I didn't even mention how many times aliens have saved my allignment from flipping from too many maxed out blue/red toll fighters...Just as some people prefer low turn/stock games and some other people only play the desert storm or subzero edits, some other people only want to play defense and build up for a long time. Can you imagine playing a game with the sole purpose of going on a quest to see a ferrengi pop an alien in front of you? To be honest I am one of the ones that haven't played in a long time and to come back into to the game to find it overpopulated by people like you that think your "ability" is determined by how quickly your planetdrop script pods the guy who has been in the game for 15 minutes. Again, i don't think yours is a wrong attitude to have, only different than mine. I am only to happy to be cannonfodder to people who agree with your philosophy, and I will be called "Weak" for it, but I only wanted to state that aliens do have their fans. Hey I'm a small minority and I know it, but it's not like Ufaj Hjasdf the Alien is going to get on here and defend himself so someone has to!
Ohyeah, and the scorpion and the subzero aliens ships would be worth it just as trophies if they weren't good for anything else.

Game play ability is not just determined buy the quickness of your scripts or buy the ping you get to server. Although fast pings and fast scripts help. A lot has to do with game knowledge, analytical thought, and time at keys. You can have the fastest scripts in the world it won’t do you any good if you don’t know how or when the right time to use it is or if your never at the keys to use it. Every script out there I know of has a way of being beaten what good is a p-drop script if your opponent knows that you are running one and is setting up a trap for you.
6 alien home worlds does not make a game more of a challenge it just give the first player in the game 6 strong planets that are usually already mobile.
I don’t feel that there is anything competitive to caping aliens and have found that most of the time its just a waste of fig’s or an easy way for peeps to make cash in a game.
Although aliment is useful for controlling experience in a game a good player should be able to play red just as good as he can play blue there are a lot of other ways to swap aliments in games without using aliens.

while i thank you for your compliment, i don't script. i do have some nice scripts written by others, but by no means do i think scripts make a player. speed hit on it, and i will expound on it. game knowledge. if you understand how the game works, then you can figure out how a script works, if you can figure out how a script works, then you can figure out how to beat the script
to be competitive, all you truely need is knowledge of the game and know how to make a good macro.
hell, oz's citkilla script is a great script which has been discussed lately and some of the newer people who have gotten ahold of it or gone against it think its unbeatable. however, if you know how it works, you can beat it by hand
i agree, aliens do play a part, i myself was thinking about making an unobtrusive, yet fun alien race for a theme that i think people like me (the anti-alien folk) and people like yourself (the pro-alien folk) could both enjoy. that would be ideal. i think my major beef with aliens is that they get poorly made in most games, and some people would prefer to play them than against people. i very much enjoy the social aspect of tradewars. when i started i kept dieing too, but it made me want to learn to get better so i could stay in the game longer and play with the fun people i was in the game with.
i hearby invite you jesus into a game with myself and whomever else i can find at some point to play for fun with other people at a semi-competitive level so i can share the joy that is social twars heh. also, if we can help you with the being the first person podded thing, all that much better
jher and speed are both fun smart people to play with as well, if we can get them into the game we'll have a grand ole time

I was invited to play on a server last night - sub zero edits. Cool, I like those edits even with the aliens. Get into the game and start stealing away -- holoscan, 50k offensive alien figs next to me, oh well cv1234, keep stealing, another sector 50k offensive, the aliens with 280k figs and think a few in edited ships with 400k. Aliens everywhere and players getting destroyed by them. The game had banged a few hours earlier and the aliens already had attitudes.
I colonized for a while and then decided that this type of game was perfect for a completely worthless script I wrote.... CBYcountdown.ts. Dropped my corp figs/cash on a planet, left the corp and a fedcom countdown of 10 seconds later.. Your *** Life Source *** has been destroyed!
This type of game is fun for some, and I won't bash their preference, but for me, it is not the type of game I prefer. This is one of the nice things about edits - there is something for everyone's preference. I would suggest that when sysOps post their bangs that they say something about aliens/no aliens, and how the game has been edited if it differs from the "normal" edits of a given name such as Sub Zero.
Now, if someone would just bang Sub Zero with no aliens and a decent ship for blues that doesn't cost 70- 95 mil like the red rum....

ya, that can only be the place where the sysop goes by the name God? runs a truce unlim with horribly edited subzero edits.
i advise all to avoid that at all costs

Humm Slim Kinda sounds like your talking about maxrij.no-ip.org
Im probly wrong.
My Take - I remember the days of 1000 sec 300 turn, only 1 player online at a time, and the reems of teletype paper all over the house.
It dont matter to me, I love the game, aliens, noaliens, hard aliens
weak aliens. I remember the first game I played with Ferrengi, what a blast, i said to my self if that can only put more in. then borg add on came out. Then i said to my self "cant get any beter than this".
I love the game for what it is, we can argue all day Chevey vs Ford.
But the beauty of the game NOW is we can play any style, theam
Edit, and theres lost to choose from.
I just hope this game dont turn into the DEATH MATCH im better than you crap you see with the popular graphic online games of today.
Lets be honest (ref to New games) who cares about the "i beat you ,you beat me", no one just us. so whats the point
the point is the game has aliens in it now, and cant wait to see whats next thing to be added to game.

I've always personally enojoyed hunting the aliens when I'm busy shooting probes to find enemy grids. But I hate when there are a ton of aliens out and about. It just gets irritating when I'm being swamped by them.
