I am making this post just to get an idea of the overall feeling of this and to pass along the fun I had last night.
Playing in an unlim game on Black Sun, there was four other traders. It's about 3 hours into the game, and everyone is basically trying to kill everyone. Sounds good, no probs, I go in....talk with everyone, have some fun, get the upperhand and Kill everyone. Now I'm by myself, what do I do? I make money, and proceed to lock down the game.
What's the problem here? Well the Chrildren that we have in the game and always will. Thanks to Titan, and Meier (could be Hag also, or is a third..I honestly don't know) since they were unable to get into the game past fed almost 4 hours past game bang, they proceed to pretend they are on the playground in 1st grade and taunt and curse and threaten over fed comm me for cheating and yadda yadda yadda, you got the idea. Then they make a ton of accounts and try to break thur my blockade with names that, well lets just say not nice to me. [:D]
So, here is the question. On an active server like Blacksun, that tends to have better players play at, Who thinks it's wrong to lock down an unlim AFTER several hours from game bang, AND AFTER killing several people already in game?

I think its fair. I was playing last night, perfect game of 8 guys. Just so happen everyone wasnt a fair sport, after one guy got poded, he came back in with 3-4 accounts. sadly i think ALL games should be locked 3 days after the game starts.

Well I'm sure my opinions on unlims are well known
But, I think it is server dependent. I thing newb servers it might be harsh. BUT on an established server, well. Were I the sysop, I would ban their IP's, and pass that info on to other server ops.

Here's my take on unlims. I've played my fair share, and if I want a "win", I lock it down. If I want to play for fun and have a "game", I tend to let players go and just do my thing. I often will play quietly until someone decides to be aggressive towards me or start locking it up. Then, its a game. Its on. The same can be said for lower turn games as well. I've won a bunch of em over the years, and now I play for hobby. Wins are kinda unimportant. Its all in your approach really.

well.
if you dont get in within the first hour of a bang of an unlim, then dont even bother leaving fed until right after tern hits.
personally, i wont lock down a game until people stop playing it. i dont use blockades unless i am trying to catch someone, and i much prefer playing with people, rather than winning alone. thats just my opinion though. ill be aggressive as hell from the start, but just because its fun, not to try to win. its an unlim. how hard is it to "win" an unlim??? exactly. anyone can do it with little thought or effort.
my favorite thing is to join old unlims solo and mess with the people who already won it pisses them off that they have to keep playing to "keep the win". they just don't have the will power to walk away knowing they already won the game heh. it even worse when they get killed and all their stuff gets taken, then they start the "its ok, i already had the game won, i don't care"
oh ya? then why'd you just spend an extra week playin the game sucka? heh.

I don't see anything wrong in it, Heck I was gonna try and do the same if you didn't kill me first! And was going to do it on the other unlimited game untill these other guys started complaining about that game already being locked down, so I felt sorry for them and let them play. I think with most unlimited games though you get a different type of person that wants to build in stead of kill everything.

There's always gonna be people who complain about players locking a game down and "cheating" or not letting new players in, by the time you can start locking down a game it, in all aspects is over. Unlims it happens quicker. I'm sitting on the fence with unlims though, turn games if you can lock it down and SD everyone by all means do it, in an unlim it is sometimes alright, like in your case coke war had already broken out, you were winning it would be ok for one main reason, you don't lock it down the people you destroyed could get back in in 2 hours, (6 pm bang time if i recall.) so if your locking down a game to win it it's ok like in your case coke. If your doing it to just be rude ex) your the only one in the game for the first 2 hours, you have base ect. set up and you start blockading stardock and ship(planet) dropping everyone on site then i would be against it. Everyone has a different point of view on this but it comes down to personel preference and how your feeling that day, shoot i've sat at stardock waiting for people to hit figs so i could SD them after a bad day, (game was 25 days old.) People tend to complain when they aren't winning or are mad they're unable to win no matter what they do. It's always gonna happen but in a competitive game unless it has been deemed a bug by EIS then alls fair.

And that is dealing with just the issue of unlims (sucky games but very fast!) Turns games are the real test of how to deal with skills and edits!

Speaking of locking down a game, I was curious if you could blow Sol. I have blown SD, AC, and Rylos, but was curious if Sol could be blown.
All I get is podded.
Thanks, -- LD --

Any Class 0/9 can be blown. BUT...each one you blow, makes the next harder. So you run into the problem that the first one may not be hard, but the second one is 2x as hard as the first, third one 3x, etc. So if you blow Sol last...that will be harsh.

ya, if you blew the other 3 first, Sol will have a defence rating of 10,000. (it goes up 2500 everytime one is blown).
with a corpie you should be able to do it.
also, the defence rating WILL stay that high forever (unless you blow another, in which case it will go up). when the dock, AC, etc... reappear, it doesn't weaken them at all.
