Usually I try and stay away from "truce" games because there is always someone who seems to get a cheap thrill from killing those who are observing the truce and not playing with their usual caution. Yep, as you have already guessed it happend to me in the game I am currently in, not once, but three times by two different players.

Two of the attacks were by the same player who also attacked the planet I was colonizing. The penalty for his agressions is that he is #SD# now - yes I attacked him after the second podding. The other player was using a "surround" script that evidently decided to also attack me while it was surrounding a sector. If players don't know what their scripts will do, then they should not be using them - this player knew I was in the sector when he started his surround because he had just warped out of it.

I have also seen planets with sector cannons set out in open space during the truce period, not a base, but a single quick building planet. I have no problem with a cannon that is set to sector level when it is a base location, but I do when they are set out in a sector with 4 or 5 warp outs.

I guess my thought is, why have truces with the problems that come with them? If a player follows the "rules" and is getting attacked and hit with cannons, then he or she won't last too long. K, I know, tell the sysOp about the person or corp causing the problem - but why have these problems in the first place?

my guess is this is a high turn/unlim truce?
i've never heard of anyone complain with a low turn truce.
high turn/unlim games inherently are made for agressive/fast games, when you throw in a truce, it just makes problems.

"Usually I try and stay away from "truce" games"

i suggest to continue to stay away from them :)

It is an unlim and you are correct in that unlims are usually very aggressive - without a truce it could have been locked down pretty quick. The speed at which an unlim can be closed out may be the main reason for the truce.
