I know of a newb who says "burn" instead of "bust", and "fusion" instead of "fuse" (blind warp).

Newbie Mistakes;
Even if you give step by step instructions a few extra warnings can help prevent a disaster. I have made all these mistakes myself and teaching new players.

1. turn on interdictor generater on IDC. just type B Y. (make sure your not at computer prompt!! and dont from using other commands hit C B Y.)

2. Building or upgrading Beam transporter on a planet. From planet prompt
c= citadel b=beam u=upgrade y=yes (Now where the problem comes in is what prompy you are at,ie planet prompt cbuy, no problem, ie citadel prompt buy no problem. citiadel prompt cbuy BOOM, c=computer, b= self destruck u=ignored y=yes. your dead.

3. Dropping and taking up figs at base, sdt site or a sector used by corp. if you dont leave a corp fig someone may fuse.

4. Clear Limpets before going to base or sdt site.

5. Killing people and Blowing up ships is fun. Watch out for traps and corbo bombs.

6.Never give out Sector numbers over Fed com or SS. If it is nesacery to give out sectors over ss DON"T DO IT!!!!. if you are at the sector use: "my TA" which stands for T=corperate menu A= your location. If a ship is in the sector use ship number, ie sector 1234 and ship 23 is there say: "location is ship 23."

7. communication is the key, explain to the new player you do not know his/her skill level yet. you will break things down not to make them feel dumb, just to make sure they understand.

8.Although everyone plays to win, losing is part of the game. Having fun is most important.

9. Dont blow up planets with colonist on it.

10. just beacuse your red donesent mean you can kill the feds Captian Zyrain will nuke you.

11. Kill a Blue when your in an iss make sure you didnt go evil or below 1000 alignment. transfer out of ship asap, till alignment issue can be resolved.

LOL, TW55 I have made all of those mistakes plus some...actually I was helping my hubby with a photon macro and was trying to upgrade the planet's tpad and guess what...#2 on your list LOL except it wasn't me I cby'd it was hubby LOL...needless to say he wasn't exactly happy about that...oh and I do have one to add:

Never carry more than one photon and even when you are carrying that one make sure to Scan/ Holo...LOL I have photoned myself more than once by hitting nav haz or an offensive fig because I didn't scan holo...

Oh yes Serena i have photoned myself so many times i almost always tow my photon ship and name it photon hot or something. It has saved my turns several times especially warping to base with a photon on just in time for a corpie to bust a planet and make nav haz. Also furbers double check your iss for photons, the haz from furbing ships can sneak in on you.

LOL...hubby podded a guy that was sitting at SD and he came on and asked me "How could spook pod me I am fed safe my exp is under 1k" to this I replied have you checked your alignment...he said yea it's 1000 I asked again no have you really checked your alignment...and again yea it's 1k but why is it red and have a - in front of it" I couldn't even answer...that was just to funny.

One I seem to be hearing alot lately is "Why don't I have any turns?"or I just heard one tonight that really cracked me up was "I have no idea what a limpet is or does but its annoying...they want me to pay to remove something every time I port at StarDock"...hello limpet "tracking" mine LOL...

age the game slim... 60 days should be more than enuff to get the 50 exp you want. i'm sure someone here with a twgs can give you exact # of days.. but aging the game is the key to that from what i have observed.. hope this helps
