A photon disables military reactions for the duration of the photon wave.

But knock yourself out taking the planets over the 1 month timespan...

Today is day 7 after the truce ended. We are taking the 5th planet in Sector1. So figger 7 more days at most for door # 2 - prolly less since we spent much money on Moth ships and still have em. Our bottleneck on this is money more than pods.

The only thing im mad about is how 3 of my planets got the military reaction shut off on em?

Harley answered that one:

A photon disables military reactions for the duration of the photon wave.

DOC WHO:
In reality this doesnt work. Not unless you have say a 30 or 40ms (max) ping.

It has worked 100 pct so far. The only time I poofed was not having CN9 = ALLKEYS. I modded the script to check first - to avoid stupid poddings. The last 2 planets with 3.3M figs have been mothed - 25 moths each with no poddings. All planets with 100 pct Mil Reaction.

quote:
Harley Nuss (teamEIS):
5 million sector figs are easy to deal with if you can successfully photon under them. First off I assume there must be an IG active. Deal with this right away by photoning under the figs with 2 ships, then having your corpie drop corp and ping you repeatedly. For 2-3k figs, you drain all the ore on the active IG planet. If there are active IG's on all the planets, you've just gotten in :P Assuming they aren't all on, though, you're now ok to moth into the sector figs, then retreat. Makes it a lot easier.

Now THAT is way too sneaky. I have to try it once just to see if it works. But I agree it shouldn't be used in a real game.

O so you guys did fire photons at em every time? I checked log and it didnt show those... In that case thats cool then yea it wont take a month... Good times though ;0... But itll take just slightly more time on the back 5 cause they have more figs on the planets for defense... Plus whatever gets added to them during the days .... And I knew about the photons removing military reaction but I was unaware of the consistacy of your 1second photon script..

The ping-draining IG's isn't really a bug, but a design flaw. It was specifically coded that an IG would hold a player when pinged. It was also specifically coded that the cannons wouldn't fire, so that you couldn't use your cannong to kill someone by just pinging them once. However, in doing so, it left open this strategy. There are plans to fundamentally change how IG's work so this won't be an issue, but as it stands, what I described is as valid a tactic as sdt.

Well consider this thread closed. Using Harley's IG-Draining tactic we we able to drain 20 Mill ore without it costing us anything more than 1000 figs. So 9 days from truce end for this challenge. Without the tactics I would have figgered 2 weeks.

Hito, good setup on your planets. This is my first time seeing your full grown door and they were tough to get by. Look forward to playing you guys in a regular game.

Seems like part of this was used during WTC 2001 during the massive attacks against doors with up to 20 stock H planets in door at extern. Attacking team was set to continue for several assaults and get the f out of 'Dodge City'...others were hitting our door if they had time to recover. Nastiest Gnarly game I have seen but many other players retired as it used concept of Mega Corps way beyond the concept of the original MarTech builds where blues built planets for reds and made doors protecting reds behind the blue doors. It was totally different game at that time as JP, Eleq and a few others can attest. Situations such as total ship buyouts, SD being blown and total planet maxing created needed changes in the entire code. That game might have turned out entirely differently if the competing codes trying to buy a ship at SD had not corrupted the code and locked up the game at a cruicial point that required Eleq to send the code to JP for a fix allowing that Tourney to continue!
