Ok, If someone has a shielded planet, are you able to shoot a ptorp into there sector and NOT get blasted by their Q Canon when you enter the sector????

If the Planet is lvl 5, you have to put shields on it for it to be able to ACT like a shielded planet.

Meaning:
If the player NEVER put shields on the planet, you can photon in and land and have no problems at all with the cannon.
If the player DID put more than (100/200?) shields on it, then you can photon in, but you will be hit by the cannon if its turned on.

After you land and see he has shields, you can kill them all (but 90 or less) Then the photon will work and you can save figs and ore on that planet.

200 shields prevents the photon from affecting the planet. Any lower amount will affect the planet as though it doesn't have shields at all. You must still land and destroy the remaining shields (the cannon fires again if not pdampened), Military Reaction attacks (if not pdampened), and you still need to destroy the figs.

a commonly overlooked part of the "shielded planet" is that it IS shielded the second it becomes lvl5. goto an opposing corp's lvl4 and hit L with a ship with a planet scanner, you scan the planet and see Q levels and military reaction lvls, and cit lvl, and # of figs. now after exturn do the same thing. you see (Shielded Planet) or something like that. so a planet doesnt need shields to "act" like a shielded planet, it just needs 200+ to stop a ptorp, and a million shields to stop me :) muhahaha

One thing about destroying shields on a L5+ is that once you destroy all the shields, a cannon blast will go off :)

Ok, BUT...if the planet is shielded will the Q canon fire at me if I ptorp and twarp into the sector?? What I want to do is this...I want to overload a sector with planets to cause destruction...(sort of a payback for past offenses), but I don't want to get blasted the second I twarp into the sector to fire the Gtorps.

If the planet is a lvl 5 with NO actual shields...The cannon will not fire if you use a photon...(and are fast enough)
If the planet is a lvl 5 WITH actual shields over 200...The cannon will fire no matter what and if strong enough, you are toast.

Some people get excited and want to cram extra information down your throat instead of simply answering your question.

here is what you do King, you ptorp in and you pray, are you using a macro or script? are there sector figs? what is ptorp length in game? if you macroing and using cn9 space and there is alot of sector figs, throw a buncha spaces in there after you move into sector just incase they have shields and you get tapped, stuck on pause prompt, and then hit sector figs and cant shoot your gtorps :)
phx, heat answered his ?, J corrected him, i threw in a tidbit of something to correct heat as well, wot was throwing in something that might be useful to him in the future, and i just re-read king's 2nd response and became confused.. you ptorp in and twarp in? not possible, so i will stick with my above assumption that you are just warping in (as you have to be adj to fire phot) but if there are your own figs in sector, u can warp your own planet in, blast off and not be touched by their Qcannons regardless of shields.
and ill correct u phx
"If the planet is a lvl 5 with NO actual shields...The cannon will not fire if you use a photon...(and are fast enough)"
199 shields on a planet IS actual shields, just not enough ;) hehe

When I said it needs shields to ACT like a shiled planet, i was refering to photons. (hint: his question) Once it is lvl 5, (if the owner lands on it so it actually shows the upgrade) then the only difference is that the enemy can not use a planet scanner to find out the details of the planets lvl, figs, atmos cannon. (unless, of course he puts shields on it. 200 to stop the torp.(thanks Jhereg for clarifying that))

What is the default for max sector figs? Because if you lay down too many than the guy is still going to get toasted, whether he takes the planet or not.

Some games I've played had NO max for sector figs. Insane defenses became possible because of that.

called photons...
and if there off, theres a certain % or number to where they will live. as far as i know, there is no default for max sector figs. I've done 50mill figs in a sector before.. (just because i felt like it)

The only max sector fighters I know of is with no planets you can only deploy 50k. After that I dont know that there is a limit, either way a photon will get you in under the fighters.
