so i try to play jokes, have fun, etc.. i pretend i found a new bug, and post a density scan from a game im in (it was 8000 planets, not figs, hehe) and i inform the appropriate people before i post it (i asked if i should post or not, no response, i went for it) that it isnt real and its just for fun to see what people say, and i get a response eventually.. and its rude. unexpected kemp, unexpected. i guess maybe stress of getting this **** squared away is gettin to ya and when people like me play around like this it maybe is like i am mocking your hard work or something, well as i have said before, i will say again, i am a joking kind of guy. i will also reinterate, kemp, i got mad respect for ya, i dont do this **** to "waste your time" i even told u before hand so you wouldnt "waste your time" on a joke. i think i will leave it at this.

I don't appreciate someone making a false "bug" report. Don't do it again.

The problem is that a false bug report for your "Enjoyment and pleasure" is acted on as soon as it's seen.. So that means that there was probably 15 mins of checking Density of SD in various games and that's wasted time.. So what your doing is making work for someone and it's work that needs not be there.
I can see why he would be upset (cant say pissed cause I think gypsy is looking to ban me and a few other people he doesnt "approve" of).. Hmm pissed is probably a banned word even tho it's usage in the uk is not the same as in the US.. uk = drunk : us = upset .. hmm .. Guess some ppl can relate to both ..
Anyhow.. You shouldnt post stuff like that cause it does waste time and effort.. Then when you do have a real problem there will be less people willing to help you with it.

Reminds me of a story I heard as a child.
"The little boy who cried wolf"
Interesting reading.

Yea.. But if he didnt respond and say "Okay" then I doubt he was at keys to manage it when it appear'd..
ON TOP of that.. he is not the only beta tester. I "was/am?" part of the EIS beta testers at one point and when we seen something like that then there would be 4-5 of us that would jump on it and test it. If you would have IM'd EVERYONE on the BBS and said "I am going to do this so just ignore it" then it probably wouldnt be something that's annoying. Now I aint trying to say anything bad about you personally... Just saying that it's not a good move for anyone to do..
As for the beta testing goes.. I cant say that I know anyone from the original group that really looks into stuff any more except for k3 so maybee you did inform EVERYONE ..

As long as they don't try to circumvent the word filter it may be ok to have a censored swear word:
http://www.eisonline.com/twforum/topic. ... C_ID=17272
Apparently the swear word filter does not apply to subject lines of a message. [:)]
Just try to keep personal attacks out of the posts, and attack the issue instead, I think.

I really have to agree with most of what people have posted here.
Slim, its great you are a joker, you probably get a ton of laughs from people. And hell, I think that is great, the world needs comedy. But a true comedian, knows what to say and when to say it. Ya know, if you had said this before .56 came out, it may have been funny, but with the tons of bug reports from the .56+ versions, and people working on fixing them, I'm sure it wasn't very funny. I know I spent some time trying to figure out WTF....how could that happen. Post like that encourage people to not look into problems. Of course I can't find the original post, so it may very well have been in the appropriate forum. In general, people read the forums, and try to help others, at least that is what some do. Comedy is great, and laughs are good, but perhaps pick better topics. Perhaps I am a stick in the mud like K3 was being about it, but I know I try to help people when they ask, so when people post stuff I try to take it seriously.
Of course back to what you said. You asked and didn't get an answer. Use this for a good guideline:
If you don't get a response, assume it is wrong. Probably cause less strife.

Butt is not in the filter list... if people type normally they don't have to worry about what words are appropriate as the forum will filter what we think is vulgar and offensive, the filter will be reworked so that it no longer uses *'s and will include common phases that we feel are offensive even when censored. Once its complete the filtering system will simply add a space for anything it filters out and when this is in place it will be retro-effective or meaning that it will filter all posts in the database as they are displayed.
Technically no one under 13 is suppose to be using these forums, but the reality is that kids do end up in here and some of the stuff they are seeing here is just way out of line. While I am sure they see and hear it else where, we have had numerous complaints in the past 6 months about the vulgarity of the Smack Talk area and it was obvious that a more defined usage was needed. The fact of the matter is this is really only being abused by a few individuals but as is the case with many things in life the few bad have caused changes for everyone. We still want an area where our members can post and engage in spirited debate, good natured ribbing, opinions and even reports of unethical play about both SysOps / GameOps and players.
As I said before just don't attempt to circumvent the filtering system, and if you are trying to circumvent it then its a pretty good case that not only did you know it was an inappropriate post, but intentional disregard for the usage of these forums. If you think a topic or post is borderline contact an Admin and ask them, and wait for a reply or lighten your content to where you feel it is no longer offensive. If we remove a post that is deemed inappropriate we will contact the author via PM and explain why, if the person who's post is deleted doesn't receive a PM then they should contact me immediately

well a practical joke has to be played on someone or it doesnt work, hehe. but i digress, it was a bad thing to do, a bad time to do it, i wasnt in my full state of mind, and i have apologized for my actions.
i've got much respect for you all, and most know of you know me to be a lighthearted guy u pokes fun and if i ever say anything someone construes as "mean" it is meant as an ironic joke (EX: me and tw55, always give each other **** on forums, but its all in play, ill sit and BS with him on icq till 6am, he my dawg, but i bet someone out there thinks we are at each others throats) if only they taught sarcasm in high school instead of music (NOTE: for those who dont get sarcasm, refer to previous statement)
in response to kids N such coming on forums and filters N such, i would love to hold a civil conversation with any who wish to about their thoughts on such things. i am a 100% believer in the first ammendment, and i say what i think at all times, maybe sometimes i choose my words carefully, but it doesnt mean i *****foot around either. sure, i dont go to an elementary school and start singing eminem lyrics, but i dont "not swear" just because some people dont like it. my mother is a good example. she HATES the word F... yet when i ask why, she says "it's vulgar" so if i stub my toe and drop the Fbomb, how is that vulgar? she can never give me an explanation. maybe someone who shares the same views as my mother, only who is more articulate can debate with me? maybe on a new topic..

Sure Slim, but let's debate in private. I swear much more than most, but I try not to when I write, or to use characters to bleep out letters of swear words. But lets keep it away from young readers who are not supposed to read or guess at those words.
I firmly believe in your right to say what you want. It just so happens that in many places using wrong language in front of minors is illegal. And I believe someone has to stand up for their right to keep informed and not have to wade through swear words or *'s to do it while looking over their shoulders to see who is watching them do so. So email me and we'll continue this.
