Sounds to me like the biggest problem the so called "eilites" have with any changes is that they might actually have to "work" at a game, or actually be present at keys, or actually have to learn something. Its kind of like the Saddam Husein era, he had the power so long he didnt realize that life evolved around him and he is now an idiot in charge of nothing. Keep going the way you are and you will end up like him, in a dark hole hoping nobody finds him because he didnt have the foresight to try and adapt and learn again.

Well I am not a elite player nor am I a newbe, but here is my 2 cents worth. from what I have read most of the people who oppose the changes are against the change that will not allow them to recieve messeges at some prompts. so correct me if Im wrong, but is'nt this really an easy fix?. sure your script(s) wont be as fast but it will still do the same thing it did before, and everyone has to deal with it, it's not like some people are gonna have an advantage over others, I think this is the whole Idea of the change. As for myself, I have never learned to script, but I do use triggers, basicaly a macro that fires when something is sent from the server, so I will just have to adjust some triggers and Ill just grin and bear it.
Don't worry about the elite players, they will deal.

are you saying that people without programing knowledge and experiece are newbs, lets see I have been playing TW on and off since 1990. I use twx with swath and zmud, I use whatever scripts I can get my hands on but I don't know how to make them, so that makes me a newb? correct me if I am wrong but I thought this game was about strategy not about knowledge of computer programing, or is that the point? people like me that cant play Tw 24/7 because we dont have a job that involes computers, and dont have the time or the desire to learn scripting should not be able to play this game at the same level as people who sit at there desk all day long at work playing tw and working on scripts? I could care less if changes are made or not, Im not complaining nor have I ever cared about what scripts someone else might have that I don't. I do just fine.

Actually Alexio I would be willing to bet that your more of a newbie than I am, I have been at this game for over 10 years, the reason you may think that way is I only play casually any more. Hey, you and me LP, lets take em all on. Some people have a life, some people have priorities, personally, my priority is my life not tradewars. Dont you just love the way the so called "elites" do nothing but cry and call names when they have their game threatened. Notice anyone, no matter how long they been with the game or how good they are at it, as soon as they agree with changes they are suddenly a newbie again. Well lets start with YOU then Didaskalos, since you were so bold to ask, the post refers to all the whiny, *****y, crybabies that complained in these forums because of a change that does NOT significantly change game play. I dont feel the need to go through and list all the names, you can read them in some of the recent multi-page posts since rev 56 came out. You know exactly who I am talking about so comments like your last make you sound even more like an idiot who cant accept change. The changes in 56 and 57 dont bother me in the least because I simply dont care, its still the best Darn game goin anywhere and that wont change because of a few changes in globals, messages, and prompts. I wont cry like a baby and threaten to quit like others, the game has changed significantly since I used to play on the BBS's but I have lived, so have you, get over it.

lewdpotato - i don't know you, nor do i have a beef with you. your post starts out by asking alexio if he thinks 'elitism' is simply being a programmer. you then proceed to explain in broad strokes the technologies you use, the fact that you cannot stay online 24x7, and the fact that you do not wish to learn how to script. I am led to believe that you think that elites sit at keys all day, write scripts in their spare time, and generally have no life.

My question is, who do you consider an 'elite' that exhibits this behavior? I have heard these stereotypes before, but have yet to meet anyone who remotely resembles the type of person you describe. Please elaborate. I find that I can dedicate mebbe an hour or two to a game per day, and my corpies do the same, and we usually have no problems whatsoever winning.

I was just pointing out the fact that you so called "elites" seem to be the only ones crying out there, sounds to me like you just cant handle it. I am not going to list every post, they are all there, pages and pages of them since 56 was released, go read for yourself, or do you need hooked on forums to figure out how to use it.

lol shorty - how bout just ONE item that you object to. name, quote, and reason for your dislike. i find it difficult to believe that you are having a hard time selecting just one, especially given the fact that you say there are so many. it is not a complicated task.

my point is, just because I can't write script does not mean Im not a good TW player, this goes for most of the community, im just saying I don't think a person should be considered an elite player just because they can program. nor should someone be considered a newbe just because they cannot. I think TW is a great game and the only really important changes that matter are the bug fixes, other than that, I can play the game either way changes or not. chess instead of checkers anyone?
