Well there are other issues too. A 56 game I was just in had locked up on me and dropped the connection several times and the last time I connected to it I was asked if I wanted to start a new player in the game. I had over 110M in my citidels and was planning a big invasion of the alien homeworld. I tried ATTAC, SWATH, and J-TWAT thinking maybe it was a TW-Helper acting goofy. They all had the same problems.

TWGS 56 is turning into a "New Coke" product, no offense to EIS or JP or anyone else meant. I am sure a lot of hard work went into it. The tons of feedback from it being mostly negative and the bugs that are now just being found are good indicators that the customers are not happy. If current customers are not happy, they will not reconmend TWGS to new GameOps, hence new revenue will be lower. This is something serious I would consider if I was running a company and got this kind of feedback, but that is just me. I strongly reconmend to GameOps to stick with 55 for now, until 57 comes out and can resolve the issues the players have brought up.
After losing my account in a 56 game, I am considering giving up on Tradewars for a while. You can find me at MechaStrike, for more info see this website of mine:
http://normad.8m.net/orion/mechastrike/ read the FAQs first and then join the game if you want to join me there. I found that MechaStrike is easier to play than TWGS and I picked it up a lot quicker. It is only a suggestion for those upset with the current TWGS 56 issues.
As a newbie TWGS player I saw the script breaking as a way of evening the odds between newbie players and more expert players. I can easily escape from someone playing by hand, as I did it before. It took more than 5 seconds for Grazhoppa to pod me in a LOTD game, because I was depending on a script to pay tolls or attack for me, so I tripped over a toll fig of his, took some time to figure out what went wrong and then paid the toll and moved and got podded. If I wasn't using the script I could hit the attack command and use 10 figs to destroy the toll fig in a few seconds and moved on and kept my ship. In a Shawshank edit, a user named Nails was trying to pod me, but I escaped from him at least a dozen times, by hand, and made it back to my base after scubbing off a limpid from a class 0 port. So yes indeed I can escape from some people by hand. I've done it before in other games and sometimes sent a "Too slow slowpoke!" over the FedComs after I escaped.
I pose all people concerned with the 56 breaking of scripts, it could be worse, what if it broke all scripts instead of just some of them? Imagine if everyone was forced to play by hand? Only those who use Macros like Res would gain the upper hand.
On a positive note, we can ride this storm out. Play on 55 servers, or play something else until 57 fixes the 56 issues. Then come back when the issues are resolved.
Remember it is just a game, not something life threatening. I see it as taking a vacation from it, should do me some good to do that. See all of you in Cyberspace later on.
