Offtopic for a second: A lot of people have been saying they want to host TWGS someday. I have a dedicated but quite empty server and I would be more than happy to host games for anyone who wants to (you'd have full TEDIT access to your game (just yours) but only if you didn't want to play in it).

Let me know. :)

I have edits I am working on, but you already knew that. I've told you before. I am trying to learn the different settings inbetween time studying for college.

I have ship edits for Reverse Tradewars and Traveller edits. I am working on the aliens and planets edits. I could just use stock planets, but the stock planets need a bit of tweaking in my humble opinion. ;)

It's kind of interesting to see the various ages represented here. Glad got see some younger folks playing.

Let's see now. I'm 33 and am a lifer as far as the Air Force goes. Father was enlisted so we moved around a lot. I was born in Florida at Ft Walton beach. Moved to Goldsboro in North Carolina until I was 2 and then dad was assigned to Incirlik AFB in Turkey. We spent 3 years there in which time I spoke turkish more than english. Mainly because we had a maid (only cost $5 a week) and she took care of me while my mom and dad were working. Her name was Nadji and was the kindest woman to ever deal with someone else's child. I drove her nuts since I liked to catch turtles and frogs and the only place to do it was an irrigation ditch next to our house. I didn't realize until about 8 years ago that she didn't speak any english.

Just a quick one about our stay there...mom caught Hepatitus while we were there. They wouldn't let me into her room so my dad took me around to her window and stepped up on a rock to let me look in. I told him to stop moving since we were going sideways and he said he wasn't....but the tortoise he was standing on had decided he didn't like being a stool. Those things used to cause traffic accidents there when they got out on the road.

Moved to North Dakota and spent three years there. It was cold..nuff said other than my brother Angus (family is originally from Scotland) was born there in 1976. Next stop was Radford Va. Stayed there until I was 13. Dad was in the ROTC unit at Va Tech so I hung around there a lot. Used to sit in on the astronomy classes with a couple of cadets. Learned to love the stars that way and had decided to become an astronaut. Sister Amy came along in 1979 and brother Buck in 1983 (okay...so we're rednecks as well). He was brought home on my 13th birthday so naturally they forgot my birthday....I didn't mind tho...had a new brother [:)]

Next stop was South Carolina. Lost a good portion of my eyesite in my right eye there in 1985 while gaining some brain damage. Some kids were throwing 45 rpm records around like frisbees and I caught one on the bridge of my nose. Had a piece about 4 1/2 inches sticking through my eye to my brain. Wasn't a lot of fun. Had to re-learn quite a bit after that. Really learned to appreciate my eyesite after that. Vision was lost due to a cataract forming in that eye. Grades in school fell from straight A's to C's and B's. It was simple really. Pilots needed perfect vision and I couldn't be one now.

Moved on to Hampton Va and that's where dad retired and moved back to NC. He and mom were both from there (sweethearts since he was 6 and she was 5). I couldn't stand it. Worked on my uncle's tobacco farm for 7 months (so even though I'm in the AF I know what a hard days work is like) and said "screw this" and tried to join the Air Force. They wanted me, but the eye thing had them saying no. Pre-existing medical condition. Once I pointed out that the AF was on the hook since it was an AF dependant that caused it, I got in. I tried for something in the medical career field but wound up in computers. Makes sense right?

Joined up on May 18th, 2000 (Happy Birthday Strider). Did my time at Lackland AFB, TX and then Keesler in Buloxi, MS for tech school. Next stop was Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. Beautiful place. Anyone ever get the chance to go, go during the summer. Can't beat it. Did 2 trips to Saudi while I was there.

Sent to the Pentagon in 1993 and I'm still stuck here. I pissed someone off or something. You will hardly ever see anyone stay in the same area longer than 3 or 4 years and I've been here for going on 11 years. Have to admit the jobs I've had have sent me all over the place. So far I've hit something like 54 or 55 countries. Some for no more than a half a day, others for a month. Best one was a trip to Antigua in support of a VIP on vacation. Had a bungalow on a beach all by myself during the month of Feb.

As for what I do, I'm a computer weenie. I've done everything from work on mainframes to network management. Can operate satcom equipment (satellite communications) to ground based radio. Even built a couple of websites along the way. Currently in charge of a desktop installation team (oh my god, they actually put people to work under me...poor fools). I'm constantly amazed at how much civilians get paid for what they do considering the lack of knowledge that they seem to have. I hold two degrees but from what I've seen from the people I work with I might as well use them after a health bowel movement to wipe with. I'll stick with exp any day of the week over a sheepskin.

Just got married to the girl I've been dating for 5 years. She's younger than I am, 23, and her parents are both officers. Father's a retired LtCol and her mom's in consideration for General. Makes for an interesting night at the dinner table to say the least. However, she's worth any amount of trouble. I've always said that I wanted what my father and mother had. I don't really believe in divorce myself. I was close to being married several times but it was never right until I met Sol. She's my other half, God just waited 10 years before he sent her is all. She's been by my side through more than a lot of married couples have had to go through and that was before we got married. I had cataract surgery in 1998 that went wrong due to the damage in my eye. It was eventually corrected, but taking care of a 28 year old man who can't see is a tough job for an 18 year old, especially when her parents didn't approve, and neither did I at the time but she wouldn't go away. I'm very lucky she didn't. Since then my thyroid quit working and I've had a heart attack. She's been my rock through it all. Even when I didn't deserve it she stayed. There is nothing I will not do for her. Just to complete the picture she's 4'10" tall, Puerto Rican, and used to work in a knife store so she has quite a few knives. Additionally, even though my family is the redneckish type, only one of us belongs to the NRA and it's not me. She bought a .357 not to long ago and is a crack shot. Needless to say, I go way out of my way to not piss her off.

Oh yeah, she just completed her classes to become a massage therapist. It was tough. Every time I turned around she wanted to practice. Poor me huh? heh

Currently I am not playing that much. This time of year is a rough one for my family. Shortly after I moved to D.C. in '93, my mother passed away on the 23rd of December. This year my father went into the hospital on the 20th. He's out now but not doing well. He is diabetic. Last week they drew 4 liters of fluid from his body cavity. They sent the fluid to the lab and they now believe he has cancer. He refuses to tell anyone else in the family. I'm tempted to, but I'm trying to respect what he wants. Dad doesn't want to upset anyone until he knows for sure what's going on. Right now I'm driving home on the weekends to help him out and I'll be going on leave for 2 weeks to help him go to his appointments.

Rambling enough for you all?

Tradewars is my escape from everything else around me. Started while I was in Alaska and I've played off and on for about 12 years now. I still have the original Amiga 500 I started on sitting next to my pc. I still use it. Love some of the older games on it. I plan on playing this game as long as it's around. I might drop it for a time, but every so often I find a new server and jump on it "just to see what's going on" and wind up playing until 4 am for some reason.

Suggestion for EIS...you should put a disclaimer in the logon screen about how you aren't responsible for the addiction the game will cause.

Okay, I've wasted enough space now.

Chris aka Nomad aka Abaddon (Haven't used the last one for about 6 years)

P.S. Anyone know a Robert Cochran from Washington State...tell him Glasseye is looking for him.

Hey all...Entropy here...I'm 35 and live in Roseville, Michigan...and its cold as hell here right now :)...Anyone that knows me knows that I hate cold weather...I am a divorced father of one 5 year old girl (that I fortunately got custody of)...and she keeps me going...Without my little girl I would probably suffer from depression also...I am a sheetmetal worker and have been for almost 18 years...I also played the original trade wars back in the day when it wasnt a multi player game...And progressed to yankee trader and Galactic Warzone...but always ended up back with trade wars...I was always the planet/base builder and pretty much left the combat to my corpies...Well I guess thats about enough...

Entropy...

Hello everyone... I'm obviously now first non-US (I'm from Finland) Tradewars freak telling something about my bad habits or something similar..:) I'm now 33 year old (turning to 34 in feb) and started to play Tradewars in late 80's, when BBS's were still for real freaks..:) In early 90's, started to use internet and for awhile, forgot Tradewars totally... but about two years ago, friend of mine reminded me about those golden days when we played Tradears _alot_ and started to track if such game still exists... and hell yes, it does...:)

Best wishes,
Drdoom

37 years young, 80% Grey Hair, Hazel Eyes bout 350 pounds 5'11"
Triple Taurus, Sun Moon and Mars, [modern astrology]
Fire Horse in Chinese astrology, rare sign, every 20 Years of the 'HORSE' we have Year of the FIRE HORSE.

A crook my whole life, No Father to speak of so I learned the HARD WAY
Kinda like 'boxcar college'...

Once was wanted by the law in 4 States, spent bout 10 years total locked up.
Got into hard drugs age 18, harder drugs meant Harder Crimes.
By the time I ended up in Walla Walla, I was 28 and comiting Violent crimes.

This January I was DISCHARGED from the Dept. of Corrections.
NO MORE PAPER T[R]AIL, and in NOV I have 10 years clean no Felony convictions.
I used the Microsoft technique to change my life around.
Got online in 1999, learned how to build computers and network them.
Started a seller account on Ebay maintained perfect feedback rating over 200...
Was selling Starwars Figures hehe.
After making some killer auction pages, I was contacted by other sellers
wanting me to design there auction templates...2 years later I am now running a web hosting business.
On an open source platform I can do the INTERNET from A to Z.
I sell my time as a consultant/developer to small business' and some entreprenuers.
Working my way in to a REAL ESTATE company as lead developer for several new home builders and one HOT SHOT agent.

I dwell on transactions and meeting new people.
I love to make folks laugh, but I have a MEAN STREAK that wont quit.
My views on our WORLD ring more like a Scream from the Jungle....then a citizen casting a VOTE..
I dont give a rats Butt about any one thats NOT part of my Family or circle of friends.
I will KILL for what I believe in.
Would survive in total anarchy, kinda hoping NEW WORLD ORDER picks up the pace.
Freedom is overrated, when you think of the REAL CORPORATE EVIL that exists.
Government coverups and fraud, have pushed me over the EDGE.
I joined a christain law club called RIGHT WAY LAW, I studied business law and civil proceedure/federal rules.
Learned how to SUE, and how to exhaust administrative remedies, prior to SUIT.

Wargames, I've played my whole life, from board games to ROCKS and STICKS...
I have fought for my life a few times on the STREETS, in the MIDDLE of the STREET even...

I am also an independant sale rep for friends and clients.
I give FAT REFERRAL FEES for new business.
I do telemarketing to promote my own work. Bought a House last year, Living with my best friend, my Mother, she allows me to use her CREDIT. I even got her line of credit upgraded to 21grand with AMX.
That was from selling software for Trend Micro, I didnt make the 250k sales per year so was removed from there WEB LISTING. So I dumped that business, and focused on INTERNET FULL TIME.

I work when I feel like it, I spend cash when I have it.
I invest most of my cash in my home and home office.
I enjoy smoking POT, I got hep C from sharing needles in 1984.
Tested my self for aides many many times since 1989. I am clean.
I am still alive, have no medical insurance, and no clue how my LIVER is doing.
I drink beer once in a while...but no more then 1 24OZ/22OZ of HG800 hehe...

I have never been married, no kids, but I do love ADRENALINE...
The FAST LANE, some how TW has given me a venue to act out and be EVIL, where I dont have to RUN the STREETS, where I'd end up DEAD or in Prison for life, rather do a suicide by cop then return to prison.

Emotionally I am prolly 15 years old or just plain bankrupt.
I battle GOOD and EVIL in my mind, I contemplate EVIL too much and it draws unrest in my circle of friends.
I set goals too high and spin my wheels some times, not getting much done.

I do know what I want in life, thats what counts, so keeping in tune with a 'DAY at a TIME' attitude has helped me overcome losses. I would be much nicer person, if I had financial security, which I still lack...
I wont stop til I am dead, and I wont lay down and DIE, I am coming on STRONG at FULL SPEED and BE DAMMED with the consequences....

I accept the LAW OF KARMA
I accept the hand dealt to me by GOD

Yeah that would be nice. But I guess it wouldn't be worth having if it was easy.

Well this is cool! I'm 36 years young..LOL I'm married to the greatest and most beautiful woman in the world, we have a 10 year old son who is a video game freak...just like dad you could say. I live in St. Louis, MO (GO RAMS), and I'm an accountant (so is the wife). I used to visit alot of BBS's in the day, and I ran a WWIV BBs for awhile. Some of the boards I was on here in STLou were, The Luminesent Conduit, The Firescape, Scavenger Den (this one was mine), Doc's Place (wasn't around long)...a few others that I can't remember the names right now, (anyone who was on any of these boards, I was known as "Sagitarian" "Scavenger" "Barfly"..names change as you grow. When the BBS scene all but died, I was very sad...I knew that I would miss the games that I loved, TW2002, Red Dragon, Exitilus(GREAT Game), BRE, Falcons Eye, Drag Race...just to name a few. I've been out of the games for several years, missed them greatly, ran across my old BBS awhile back and longed for a game of TW. Searched the web and found a telnet WWIV board called Eagles Dare, been playing Red Dragon L.O.R.D. on it for a few months, and decided to login here to check out the TW scene...I know the game has changed alot, so I'm going to read some posts, check out a few basic games to get my feet wet, and then just dive on in. Any pointers, tips, hints would be great. Anyone who knows me from the STL boards drop me a line. Well gotta go the wife is naked...see ya!

I'm from Georgia. I listened to them every morning since I was in 7th grade and I still do when I go home. I'm a student at UGA in Athens and I don't know of a station that broadcasts them here. I love those guys. Quality stuff. :)

Hey all,

I am 41 years old, turn 42 in April. I've server 23 years in the US Navy. Not everyday has been the best but for the most part I'd have to say I've enjoyed it. I recently bought a Condo in San Diego, so looks like I'll be here for a while. I'm getting ready to retire from the US Navy and go to work doing pretty much the samething I've been doing for the past 2 years. Training and scheduling of cruise missile and combat systems.

I've been running a tradewars game server for more than 5 years now. Although I have been unable to find time to play it with my work and other fun stuff I like to do, I still enjoy providing the service to those who want it. The other fun stuff I like are, but not limited to making short comedy movies and joke commercials, as well as video taping special events for a group known as the Society fro Creative Anachronism (SCA). All of my stuff is available for viewing from my website which is the root site for my tradewars site. Last year my friends and I made a 24 minute movie spoofing Lord of the Rings. It took 8 months all weekends and even though none of us got paid we had a great time. I am even branching out into animation this year. It has become more than just a hobby. [:)]

Out of all this I do regret not being able to play the game in the last 5 years. This does not mean I'm not happy with my life, but as always you have regrets.

That's it from here.
Brian

Would you mind posting the URL for the tradewars site?
