Well, everyone knows the brighter side of my little life story, now it's YOUR turn. =) I think it would be nice if all of our Tradewars folks would tell us all a little bit about themseleves, their accomplishments in life, etc. I know I'm not the only one here who has Done Something, so let's let folks tell their own story.
Graz did a wonderful job of his telling; i almost had tears in my eyes, so you see, we ALL have a story, we have ALL done amazing things, so come on people, fess up! =)

I'm an 18 year old music performance major at the University of Georgia. I mostly sing and play sax, but I can play a little piano and guitar also. My goal in life is to make a decent living just playing...be in a band. When I'm selling out stadiums, you guys can get some free backstage passes and come meet me. I remembered TW from the BBS days...Don't remember how old I was...but I can't imagine being good at it at such a young age. Who knows? My main draw was playinig Legend of the Red Dragon and getting that barmaid...yeah...nevemind. I searched google and found http://www.goosemoose.com which was a good place for me to learn, but I've now far surpassed the players there. I've been in the game for about a year and a half now, and with some help from some friends such as wildstar (introducing TWX), sharkey (learned a few tricks), WooF! (she's just fun as hell), and graz (teaching me the ways of the low turn game), I'm getting there. I don't claim to be anything special in the TW world, but I can generally put up a decent fight when I have decent corpies.

Heh. I like this idea, Galaxi, good post.
I'm a 28 year old male. I currently live in Michigan. I grew up in Kalamazoo, got an undergrad degree in psych at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, married, moved to NC for a year then moved to KY for 3 years, where I got a grad degree at W.KY Univ. in School Psychology. I currently work in the MI public school system.
I have a lovely wife (a special education teacher), two dogs, two cats, and beautiful nieces and nephews that I adore. My major hobbies are, of course TW, as well as reading, photography, and disc golf. I won the Bowling Green Amateur Disc Golf Tournament in 2002.
I first encountered TW in the late 80's/early 90's on a local dialup bbs, and played it through a 300 baud modem with other High School friends. Years later (early 2000), while in graduate school, I became curious and did a web search. Started playing a little, and soon became hooked. Off and on since then.

I'm 23 years old (gasp!) My real name is Steffan.
TW history is quite lenghy, and of mixed review- Everyone makes mistakes in their youth, and unfortunatly, I took my rebelious years out against the TW community..
Who I am, and what I have accomplished, are driven largely upon my lessons in TW, as well as life. In reference to TW, I've learned from people like soul, and a few others- To never take things at face value. I also learned that trust is an important factor in life, and it's hard to find a line inbetween..
I'm the type of person where trust is gained, not given. I expect the same in return.. There are very few people I trust in this game, as a matter of fact, I can name them all in a few seconds.. Bud, Xide, Gravdgr, Mythrandir, TW55, Arucard, BG, Guard, Eleq, kemper, Tweety, Alexio, Bone Collector, HHH, TBH, Elder Prophet, SupG, and a few others... So it takes more than a few seconds
I've always tried to be a giving person, most the people on that list can tell you, I try to help out, whenever possible.
I'm currently working on TW school again, this time we have a class of 6, some have played anywhere from 2 months, to 1.5 years- I'm not teaching them to play, but more or less, teaching them to think.
Who am I?
I'm a father, of a beatiful daughter, Cheyanne.. She's 23 months old now, and has an FANTASTIC vocabulary- Hi! Daddy! Mommy! HotGoG (Hotdog), Diapy, joor (door), puut (shut), Doggy, Deigo (My snake), uice (juice), Shoe, Shirt, Night Night, Kiss, Love you.. and a few others.. She's also really good at saying Awky! and Owie!.. Says them both at the wrong times... Oh, she says Bathy too
Her favorite color is pink, and has this BRIGHT pink coat, that needs to be replaced, but she won't let us put another coat on her, and I can't find a replacement that looks the same =\
She... Is who I am, my love, my determination, my goals in life, my fear, all revolve around her. I'm not a parent that sees my child as an 'inconvience' ever... My daughter is my limelight
Then we get to my wife- The greatest woman on earth.. And god, HER GREAT Butt... Beyond that, she is my soulmate, queen, manager and critic She keeps me calm when I want to explode, makes me strong when I want to cry, makes me happy when I'm sad, gives me funny looks when I am mad, kisses my head when my stomache hurts, hits my arm when my head hurts Does for me when I cannot- And I never forget, she's my camelot. Shes 22 now, the original Grazhoppa- Even in life, you can't stop her. I watch her when she sleeps, when she cries, my heart weeps- I do not know where I'd be, without my wife, is without my life..
We lost one child, won't lose twice.. Blackend our hearts, cold as ice.. The love we once felt, was now gone and withered, but we had eachothers heart, although cold and bitter. We stuck thru it all, fighting and screaming- because we had loved, and lost that feeling.. I tell you now, like I tell no other, There is no feeling, like being a father, cept for a mother- her heart was strong, yet still it broke, one of our friends, thought it was ok to joke- I almost took my own life, over that night- My wife was there, she didn't lose that fight. Then one day, a gift came from god, "Take this to heart, and your love will not part", a baby came us, from the stork driving the baby bus- I still reflect, unto the past and I'll always remember, the love that will last- But I can't, live my life, with both my daughters, and my wife- I must remember, and never forget- My love for alexis, will never quit- I driven long and far, to bring us here- Now to live my life, without fear- I remembered once, hearing a quote "Better to have loved and lost", I'll say it once, and never again- Love is a gift, not an item or bargain- If you choose to lose yours, don't fight again.
That's kinda a mess, but it's clear to see where I'm coming from.. Now, I'm in pain, constantly- But my wife and daughter drive me to succeed, and the life that passed before us, watches over me, with love, and dignity- I know she takes care of us (Thank you, alexis). With my families love, I know I can do anything-
I'm not a loner, as many have portrayed- However, I don't run in a crowd I prefer the crowd come to me- Because the last thing I need, is to rush them
That's pretty much me, a dedicated family man, that runs a small business (or trying lol) and I give as much time to people as I possibly can afford...
Graz

I am 35 years old. Was playing Tradewars in the 1980's before the TW2002 innovations. I encourged BBSes to run it and register it. I worked in a computer lab at college in the late 80's early 90's and taught my supervisor how to play. Other lab workers played too. We would compete, and when the work was slow we would play at work over a modem. I was the builder, I built planets and farmed them, I ppted, played blue and got an ISS and clonized. Did most things by hand.
I have suffered from depression most of my life. I have been ill a lot, and have other illnesses that forced me into disability. Before that I was a computer programmer, before that a PC specialist. I tried running two different businesses, but went out of business when customers did not pay. I am just too nice a guy and people take advantage of my good nature.
I am going back to college to get a degree in Business Management, as IT is bleeding jobs to other countries. I hope to run a third business if I can, with different policies and contracts to prevent customers from not paying.
I am married, my wife is a great woman and has supported me and is vert smart, kind, and caring. She is a nurse that works in a nursing home. We have a 5 year-old son who is growing very fast. He is about the size of a 9 year-old and is very strong. I was teaching him numbers using "Uno" cards the other day. He is in Pre-Kindergarden, and days when my wife works I drive him to school.
When I had a job I always gave money to the homeless when I saw them. My co-workers laughed at me, said I was wasting my time. Some of them just needed busfare to a homeless shelter, others needed food.
I have loaned money to friends and most of them haven't paid me back, but I don't pester them about it. I have done a lot of Pro-Bono work fixing computers, and also work very cheaply if I do earn money. I'm always cleaning off spyware, trojans, and viruses off of someone's computer, Windows can be a pain.
I spend about 40 hours a week for college, it takes a lot out of me. More than I'll care to admit. I just had two relatives die, one after the other, both sides of the family. I am doing what I can to hold together not just for myself, but for my family and anyone else who needs me.
I would have been in Grazhoppa's classes, but Monday I had college class, and Tuesday I had a wake to go to. So I missed out. I had good excuses not to, and family and college have priorities over Tradewars.

I'd like to add, that I encouraged Orion to attend to his family- I believe in family over all, especially TW.
If I can comfort you in any way during your 'mourning' orion, let me know.. I'm always avaliable to talk.

I'm 27-years old. I was born and raised in Louisville, KY. I went off to college at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY and got my bachelors in Computer Science in 4 years (which suprised my Dad since I skipped classes alot.) I met my wife there and after she finished with a double degree in Physics and Math, we moved to Champaign, IL where she is working on her PhD in Atmospheric Physics at the University of Illinois.
For my career, I worked at a computer consulting firm (where my father was the programming manager) in Louisville while finishing high school and during the first two years of college. I wanted to get out from under my father's shadow and prove that I could stand on my own -- so, I took a consulting job in Lexington KY where I earned a lot of money (for someone my age) and learned alot. I took a position as the lead PC programmer/database admin at Horizon Hobby, Inc. in Champaign, IL and got my first taste of having people work under me. I bought a nice house, big TV, Porsche 911, etc. and was doing quite well financially. This left me feeling kind of hollow though and I wanted to challenge myself.
This inspired me to leave my relatively well-paying job there and start my own consulting company. We are almost at our 2nd year and I've found it is alot harder getting your foot in the door with companies, finding out how much a particular prospect is willing to pay for a certain job, etc. I basically have not drawn a salary in the last two years but I've made sure to always pay my employees fairly and on time. They've stuck with me even though they could probably be making more money elsewhere and we all feel that one day, one of our projects will take off and we'll all be able to retire...
I played TW back in the day when I was a high-school student. We had a 1200 baud modem when I first started but I upgraded to a 2400 and then later a 14400. TW was one of the coolest things I remember... other than Zork and Archon on my Atari 800 and of course downloading Wolf3D from the BBSs and just getting blown away by how cool that was.
I also have way too many hobbies. I like to annoy/tease/flirt with my beautiful, intelligent little wife (we've been married 5 years now), throw big Halloween and KY Derby parties every year; I took boxing lessons and actually fought in a toughman competition (150 lb. division), I occasionally auto-cross my Porsche, I collect and paint Warhammer Fantasy & 40K figures, I play alot of RPGs, like to fish, try and beat my father-in-law in chess (since he's a rocket scientist at Nasa/Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL), and I generally like to learn and do as many different things as possible. I hope one day to do something worthy of a book or movie... that would be cool.
Oh yeah, and I'm Darn sexy. At least that's what I keep telling my wife.

Hi all, my real name is Luke.
im a 22 yr old college student, majoring liberal arts. I have no idea what i want to do in life and need to find direction. Trade wars is a game i keep coming back to becuase i think it got imprinted on me when i was around 10 or 11. My brother was a few years older then me and a real computer whiz. He was always online, connecting through any phone line he could find. He dialed up to the local bbs and eventually he got me to sign up and all i wanted to do was play trade wars. And so i have a fondness of it which has lasted to the present.
I have a wonderful girlfreind who means the everything to me and i wouldn't trade for the world. She has a moderate case of CF and i worry about her health sometimes. She not as bad as most people with CF but it still a serious disease. I love her too much to care really, im just happy to be with her. Id like to be an artist eventually, in the visual arts, in music, and also as an author. I like to draw, paint, listen to music and write. Im thinking i might head into psychology for my next step in school and do as much freelance i can. I have some basic skill in html and C++, but i am getting rusty. If i could sell short stories or a novel i would be very happy for myself. But more on the realistic side i will persue real estate since i am already licensed and have been since i was 18. Theres good money in it for the amount of time committed. If i put in the time it could be a serious source of income. But im afraid to work it full time because then i wouldnt get back to school. Basically id like to work in as many fields possible in the things i enjoy. And my real goal in life is not to make money but to do something worth while with my time of this planet. Money makes the world go round and thats exactly the problem. That, and i wish i had my remote nearby, theres a terrible cartoon on and i cant change it while im writing this. but hey look, rocko modern life is on the next channel, rock!

I'm 25 and living in & loving San Diego, CA (originally from Des Moines, Iowa). It's just me out here so far -- no family of my own yet. I mostly work and spend time with friends. I'm a (Microsoft) Great Plains Integrator/Developer for a Fortune 500 company here, formerly a Business Systems Analyst (consultant) and before that a Network Engineer.
I got started playing TW in early 90's on my 1200-baud modem along with my three brothers. Once our parents took the monitor to keep us from playing but we knew how to get into TeleMate and turn on the printer logging even without seeing the screen (yes, we knew where in the dial-up list we were going, too). Hell, the printer didn't even have ink! It was a dot-matrix printer with carbon paper loaded, so we had to play using the carbon copies. That only happened once, but it's a good illustration of how much we loved the game.
I started playing again about a year ago after at least six years away from the game, but just didn't have the time to keep up with everything that'd changed. I -LOVE- the scripting aspect of the game that wasn't around before but part of me misses the more "pure" way of playing. I remember when my first pair-trading macro was a big deal (to me, at least)! Anyway scripting is here to stay (let's NOT talk about that in this thread), so I started to learn quite a bit of Java working with SWATH scripts. Now, since I don't have the time anymore, I run a dedicated TWGS server at System78.
It's been great getting to know all you die-hard TW fans like myself. [:D]

Before i tell about myself i just have to give a word out to ghoury and say hey its good to hear about you your mom(which i am sorry to hear she passed on) and your dad for stepping up and being RN's it is a job that i could never do and I respect anyone that has the courage to step up to the plate and take that role we need more peeps like your family....
Having said that I am 20 and will be turning 21 May 18 WHOOOHOOOO....I live in Pekin, Illinois, a medium size town of about 35,000 people and about 20 min south of Peroia Illinois...I am currently going to school to get my Associate in Applied Science Degree for computer programming and then after that get certified in Graphic Desgign, web development, and Network Administration...My Mom used to be an LPN i think and then she got remarried and is not starting a new buisness with her husband making duck and bird calls....My father is a Computer Tech(Which I might add is the smartest man alive about computer)...
As for my personal live i Moved out on my own when i was 18 and just recently got engaged to the most wonderful girl in the world(And no i am not being bias either she really is)and we now live together and plan on getting married in September of this year...We have been living together for a year now but no offspring are planned at this time....hehe....She is 22 and she started to go to school to be a Nurses Assistant but is kinda of wanting to change gears and work with children....
I started playing tradewars about 1 year and a half ago...To tell you the truth when i first started playing i hated it....A buddy of mine played it back in the day on his 286 and i never could get into it then and then i was playing LORD on a server and noticed that they had tw2002 so i pointed it out to him and he started playing it and i started but did not like it too much but then it grew on me and now am hooked....(It tends to do that to a person)....I have 2 things that i am proud about tradewars was that i was invited my Wildstar to join the Leigon of Doom perma corp which we just had a new member join (Devils Advocate)(thank God now i have someone to play turn games with...lol) The other thing that i am even more proud of i think just because i still constiter myself an amature is the day i podded the man himself Xide...Unfortunatly i was not able to **SD** him but a pod is good enough for me i told him that he was luckey and next time i would make sure that i got his pod also....He laughed at me lol....
I also Host my own TWGS server and am currently working on designing a website for it you can check out its progress at http://www.therepublictwgs.com and my server addy is below and there are new games banging usually weekly....
Well that is about it for me if you have any questions about me just give me a hollor

Well, I live in Portland Oregon and am 18. I started playing at about 14 and this remains my favorite online game. I have very fond memories of my starting days with TW. In about 3 months I will be hosting my own TWGS server, and hopefully I can spur some interest in people to play there.
Personal life wise, I will be moving out in about 3 months anyway, which is exactly why that is the time I will be starting my own server. (Long story...)
