I have come to the conclustion that it is IMPOSSIBLE to make players happy being the sysop....

There was an event today that was brought to my attention about dupe accounts on my server today so i took action....People were banned and recorces were replenished....But no that was not enough....What More can be done....I try to take care of the situation to be fair to EVERYONE playing the game....but its not enough.....I have never once said that people were not welcome at my server hell i was even willing to give the dupers another chance in the next rebang of the game.....

PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE THAT THIS IS A FREE SERVICE TO YOU AND HAVE A LITTLE RESPECT FOR THE PEOPLE RUNNING THE GAMES....

The whole story is long and drawn out but whoever reads this knows who they are and they are always welcome on my server....but for GOD's sake it is a game

Yea A thankless job for sure, not for the faint of heart, or thin skined. Dupers are exactly why sysops are going to closed games. Its just too tempting for some people, not to break the rulez. It has caused many a game server to close. there are a lot of good people that play tw and afew jerks <sigh> Hang in there Dude.

I'm in this game, right? Me and buddy Skukkukt drain all the colonists within the first few days. Capture Ferball the next day.

2 Other teams, of players I've never heard from/about/whatever (and orion, I just say that cuz I know who he is) are in the game.

The day Ferball went L4, it was captured.. No biggie, we'd just put enough product on it to upgrade, so it didn't mean much- A day later, the planets closest to terra get raided, prolly 20k colos ripped of, no biggie, I asked for the colonists back, or else.

I was laughed at. So I dedicated a little more time to the game, from 8 minutes a day, to going red and spending as much time at keys as possible. (Cashing/Hunting/Gridding) blah blah blah.

I find the planet with most the colonists on it, invade it, and toss a few figs on it 3-5k?.. I know they won't last, just something waiting for my L4 to go online the next day.

Unfortunatly extern is at noon, and not midnight, so I kinda missed the boat <G> Other team recaptured, and put a few more figs on it, like 20k? yeah, somethin like that.

I was denied invasion privledges, since my teamate was gone for the weekend (I don't invade without backup resources) So I decide to sit outside the planet, and scare people off.
Running keepalive allowed me to keep and eye on the game while doing dishes/watching tv/listening to music, or whatever.. When someone came on, I was at keys.. They'd hit a fig, I'd use my speedy little fingers to photon. Here's the great part-

One of the other guys comes on, named Simon Miligan, fortunatly for me, he goes straight towards dock (the planet wasn't too far from the MSL's, and I was sitting right next to the MSL) so he hits the figs, I launch, exit the game real quick (excitment I guess) come back in, and hit the freakin planet navhaz.. so I lost my turns to a photon =^\.. Simon starts talking **** like a script did it, I just turned my fedcom off. (I was really ticked off)

Next day, Simons Teamate, "Hrvat" starts talking smack.. Unfortunatly for me he wasn't good at it. I draw him out easily, he hits the figs, I photon, he cloaks, I photon again, pod and SD. Then all of a sudden a dupe comes in.. hits the sector (NOT in the MSL, 1 off, towards the planet) Hits the figs, I pod him, didn't SD.. He runs to the phone I guess, calls Simon, and get's like 1mil for corbo (He didn't trade for it in a pod.) Lines the pod with corb, and comes back.. Fortunatly for me, he didn't think I'd restock figs, I hits, I destroy, taking 45k damage.. Not a big deal.. Just a stupid dupe..

All of a sudden there is another dupe in the game so, I get heated up and rdy for a long day.. This time it was for simon, not Hvrat. Dupe hits the gateway, waits for me to photon... I photoned, and entered sector, before I powered up, simon warps in.. Thinking he had me outfigged or something- I do a quick < and photon again (I like photons) Ship destroy them both, and capture simons nice ship. I still have their planet blocked, I'm now down almost 70k figs (Acual numbers were only about 55-60k because of the ships I captured, and the money I collected off dupes/players)

I wish TWX had a chat log of incoming and outgoing messages.. I would have been quite a nice peice of evidence. However it just has incoming. So I'll try not to bore you. At the same time as the rest of this was going on, I ship destroyed another loud mouth, named Sethra or something like that. I've never heard of any of these players, and am not boasting- I'm accually saddened that I killed this many dupes:

And the offender, who doesn't play TW, was banned, but the cause (Corp 2) had a long talk about language.

In the end, I asked for my turns to be replenished (Lost them while attacking dupe *to navhaz caused by dupes*) And 20k figs. I was told I could either take 10k figs, and 500 turns *Lost 800*, or I could get 20k figs.

I was also informed that in the next game, there will be a 4 hour time limit.


Now, who won this battle? The guy that spent countless hours coming up with a plan to stall invasion, or the dupers, who will undoubtablly win the rest of the games on this server, since strategy is not welcome here?

Strider- I don't give a flyin puck who you talk to, or about. Next time you wish to bring up a subject, where I'm involved, you tell EVERYONE who it is. I don't hide anything, I'm in the right, and the users will agree. *The ones who don't, would suggest you didn't get involved to begin with.*

I don't understand the problem, here, really... sounds like Graz was within the bounds of appropriate game play, and the fig/turn replenish sounds like a reasonable request, too. Other than not granting the turns/figs it sounds like it was handled appropriately...

Not sure why a time limit, though, in response to this situation. So he's online all the time. <shrug> That's the dedication it takes to win. Time limits are fine, but adding one BECAUSE of this ... not so much.

I want to make it clear that as the CEO of Corp 2, I do not like duping or cussing in the Tradewars game.

I found out about the attack script from Simon in email, so I logged into LotR to check high scores to see who got podded or SDed and I saw a lot of new players. I deduced that it could be duping going on so I asked Simon and Hrvat if they were doing it, and they both told me they were not.

After I found out from Strider about the cussing and the duping I told Simon and Hrvat that they should cease it. Hrvat confessed that a friend did it, at least that is his side of the story. I do not want to win a game that way, I am against duping. I would rather lose a game than dupe to win one.

So I want to publically apologize to Grazhoppa, Skukkukt, and Strider for the trouble that my Corpies have caused. They did these things without my permission and without my knowledge as I found out about it later. I myself did no Duping or Cussing in the game, you can check IP addresses if you wish to verify that.

Yes to prevent duping, you may want to create accounts by email verification only. Two servers I am on have done that, and while hardly having anyone play, there isn't any dupers.

The attack scripts I do use, I didn't make, but put my full faith into. I'd like to add, that they strickly capture.

You shouldn't feel bad because my fingers are faster than your AOL connection, don't worry.. You'll become a player one day. For now, I'd suggest you choose your battles, this is one you cannnot win, goodday, miligan.

I know you had nothing to do with it, and don't blame you one bit.. I would however recommend for a player starting out, find yourself better teachers and role models, there are alot of people (like myself) who like you, and are more than willing to take you under our wings (if it wasn't clear enough, that was an apprientence offer).

Your a great person, and have a great sense of character.. as well as a good heart- Your welcome to join my team and learn as much as you can, anytime.

Well I thought we were going to Corp when the LotR game started, but you joined your friend's corp and he didn't want me in it. If he did, Hrvat and Simon would have less resources to work with. In fact Sk suggested I corp with Simon, so I did, and then his friend Hrvat joined. They are good players and have no need to Dupe. I think if they learned to be good sports and accept that losing is part of the game, they might become better players. Hrvat is strictly against Scripts, except for trading and non-offensive stuff. Simon has an interest in TWX, I sent him some scripts I downloaded. They are not teachers or role models, they are my current corpies, and I am ashamed of their actions as far as the duping and cussing goes. If you decide next game to take me into your Corp, I'll consider it. Galaxi also gave me a chance to learn under her when the next game rebangs. So either way I'll be learning.

On a positive note, Simon and Hrvat know how to start out a game, planet farm, PPT, and attack by hand. Had we started a corp with three memebers on it, maybe we would have had more figs to challenge you more. I think they deserve a second chance, and need to refrain from the cussing and duping next game. From what I have seen, they really know how to play blues. Simon didn't do any duping, as far as I know, Hrvat said it was his friend who did the duping for him. So according to Hrvat it was a third party helping them out. I'd much rather this third party start one account and join our corp and play, instead of duping.

I have to say aside from the duping and cussing and disrespect to the GameOp, they seem to play very well. No other complaints for them from me besides the cussing and duping issues. If they don't dupe or cuss or disrespect the GameOp in the next game, I may consider corping with them again.

Notice I am not coming anywhere near the planet, that would be suicide with your attack script on. Instead I am playing it safe and doing things that won't get my ship captured. I won't say what I am doing, but your attack script has allowed me to do it without your noticing.

Orion, I'm not running an attack script, if you notice right after you got on, I asked you how things we going, but you didn't reply =\

I just want to send one e-mail to defend myself against the mostly untrue crap that Grazhoppa has been saying about me.

First off even before I joined the game Simon had conqured his main planets. He attacked our planet and won the first time. We easily reconqured it because he only left 3,000 fighters on it. Now he claims that he only left a token force behind, but the same day Simon went back to his main planets that were guarded by only 300 or so fighters and took them out.

So we have him beat and he knows it. Out of spite he starts up a photon bot 24 hours a day outside of our planet so we can't get at our 30k fighters on the surface, or the 5k more that are getting made every day.

I will give him credit, he was in the game alot, but I signed in all all hours of the day just to see if he would leave. Either he's been on speed for the last week, or something was playing for him while he slept.

In other words, the only way he could fight us was by using the photon bot to play for him.

I got my friend to play, I think his account was called ****stomper. He wanted to come in and help us out. On the way to the stardock he hits one of Grazhoppa's fighters and is instantly podded by Grazhoppa's attack Bot.

So out of revenge we give my friend 1.5 million dollars to buy carbo and send his pod at his attack script. It works, his fruity little bot takes the bait and he's hit for 15,000 points of damage. At this point my friend wasn't a dupe so it was all ligit. Afterward he got mad and just kept making accounts and sending ships with 50 fighters at Graz's attack bot which would waste his turns for him. If Graz had actually been at the console he would have figured out not to waste his turns on worthless targets.

So here is the end of Graz's short life in the Republic. He launched an attack script against our planet, it messed up and he was blasted for 49872 battle points of damage and killed 2 seconds later. So he pouted and self destructed crying about how we cheat.

I don't think it's too much to ask to play a game of TW where someone's bot isn't camping with a photon in front of a planet they are incabable of conquring 24 hours a day.

We beat you Graz even before the day of the duping. So stop crying and take defeat like a man.

Strider I'm sorry for all the trouble this has caused you, or if I seemed rude. I really appreciate how you take your time to make a game for us, and know you're trying to keep it fair for everyone. I'll keep the language clean from now on. Thank you

Sorry I didn't notice you were trying to talk to me. I had a script running and it doesn't break for FedCom messages. All I could do really was colonize planets as everyone else was ignoring Terra. I had my ship captured by you before and I didn't want it to happen again.

If you weren't running a script, you've been spending a lot of time in the game. I was waiting for a chance that you would log out so I could get back to our main planet, tried for over 18 hours straight and you were still there. I knew you wouldn't let me get back to the planet, so all I could do was colonize other planets and avoid your figs. I just assumed you had a script running that was keeping you logged in and that would attack anyone that got near you or hit one of your figs. If you were playing by hand, that is impressive but must have taken up a lot of your free-time. Sorry we were on oposing corps this time around.

Oh yeah we put 50K colonists working on Fuel Ore on the Mordor planet. Just in case the photon effect failed, it should have hit for major damage. That is why we stripped the 40K colonists off of the Grey Havens planet to put on the Mordor planet, and then detonated the Gray Havens planet.

Graz should have stripped the Gray Havens planet and taken back his 40K colonists, he could have done it before any one of us got back online. Not sure why he didn't. Colonists are a key to winning the game, and he wanted them back so badly that he was threatening us to get them back or else.

This is a hollow victory because of the dupes, the cussing, and lack of respect to Strider. I do not want to win that way. Graz is a great player and I hate to see him lose in this way. I still respect him as a player and potential mentor. I wonder how the game would have ended up without the dupe accounts, guess we'll never know.

You know what i was not going to replenish all 65k figs beause he was asking for 20k i made a deal that i thought would be fair to everyone seeing how it was not simon or hyvar duping so y should they be punished for someone elses mistakes....As for the time limit.....I am just taking percausion as so this type of thing will not happen in the future....I like Graz as a player.....but because i did not give turns back and just gave figs back when i gave him the option of 500 turns and 10k figs or 20k figs and no turns it was up to him...I am sorry that was the desion that i made and it did not make you happy....But what was i to do...Give everything back and then have someone else whining so there for there is no way of winning this situation

If you accually read the log I sent you. The said duper admitted he was asked by hvrat to dupe.

That is the same as duping- the duper also implicated simon.

On most boards, that is a bannable offense.
