Friend of mine named Jackal, has been upgrading his TW on the side, and he incorporated 3dfx graphics with the game, etc. I had a copy of this and was wondering, when EIS plans to upgrade tradewars in near future? Jackal has basically upgraded the entire game to the 3dfx level, and i cant belive my eyes from what i seen, but apparently only problem he has is the game has no engine, mostly scripts, so he cant do much on the side, but even still, the little gif images of a space ship flying through sectors and 15,000 little Figs attacking him was quite fun to watch, I recently got a copy to check out and im not suprised. But I really want TW to move up a level. Hows everyone else feel?

There *was* an attempt with a totally seperate company to release a high graphic interpret of the game but that fell thru and went another route. It went from being called Tradewars Dark Millenium to what I was informed last ExArch and it shared very little likeness to tradewars, hence the reason for the name change. The old TW:DM site has been taken down and I have yet to hear of a website on ExArch.

There *is* however a Tradewars Movie Project being thought up. It's pretty cool. You can see the possibilities that the game could inherit from high graphics at http://www.tradewarsmovie.com.

If this movie project can come thru and does. I'd expect a high graphic evolution of the game soon to follow.

Thinking I might be able to speak for a few folks here. I knew the original Jackal who was the player that gathered the Wolf Pack together a few years back and last I heard he died last August from massive liver failure and systemic cascade failure of other body functions. Many players mourned that occasion and a few starting to appear again. Who is the newbie usurping his name or are we witnessing a miraculous resurrection?

I would like to answer this for Father Cajone, and others.

First of all 1ManMafia, you are new to the current Trade Wars 2002 community. As most of us now it. And as such you do not know of the man that had the handle Jackal. This man has passed away some time ago. At approx. age of 40. This person was in the Trade Wars 2002 Community for several years. And many have loved him, and some have hatted him. But, all knew him to some degree.

I and others feel that anyone else with the handle of Jackal. Is nothing more than a person that has stolen his name, and what not.

As to your quoted comment above, and your last post. It was totally uncalled for.

Take you childish attitude and leave the community. As it would be better servered somewhere else.

Wait a minute.. Im new the the message board, so you assume, since you dont know me, and you assume I dont know about Dale "Jac}{al" Woodard? as i said, YOU have mis-information. Grow up 1st of all, and stop making "childish" accusations.
Dale Woodard happens to be one of the top people in florida that works on tw2002, he's the FIRST one to unite BBS's in florida on fidonet so we could all play against each other BBS vs BBS.
The other jackal i do not know, and dale didnt steal his name. So dont be offended, or talk trash here.

People please. There are COUNTLESS numbers of people on the internet that use the same names. So why shun someone when they come along as if they knew that they were using the same name as someone who DIED however long ago. Look at AOL users, when is the last time anyone could create a standard nick without adding a bunch of numbers or other crap on the end. I myself dropped the name Phoenix because it was to common. Hell I couldn't even create the nick PHX on any of the messenger programs because they were already taken. AIM, MSN, !Y, ICQ

Just a bit pissed right now because the only player I respect using the name Jackal died in a hospital in WA last August. He was charter member and CEO of a permacorp called 'Wolf Pack' and many of the better players in the game came through his corp or faced off against the Pack! His teams played in major tournies for years and whether they won or lost gained respect for hanging in and giving the best they had. Several players including at least one gameop that I am aware of were at the hospital during his last days....even a couple
he had offended as at times he tended to be abrasive. Keep pushing the buttons and I think you will piss off a few more players and then we can move this discussion to the 'smack forum' and let some REAL
venom flow! [:(!]

HAve to agree with Father Cajone the only Jackal i have known since I started playing around 8 years ago passed away and is missed by a lot of people.
True he pissed a few off but most liked him. A lot of people will not like to see someone using his handle and he will be a big target and get killed every game he uses that Handle. Sorry to disagree with you but he was the only Jackal in Tradewars as far as i am concerned Newbie
