Okay apparently I am a cheater so I have been told by a player who will no longer be playing on my server.

Isnt it amazing at what we sysops have to put up with. I have a player who got killed right after buying a new ISS. They were at SD. He just bought it and then noticed he was in a pod and then dead. No messages. Well we all know that sometimes the messages do not appear. Anyway he then emails me and tells me that someone has access to the tedit or I cheated and edited him out. Yeah right.

I repsonded nicely with the logs(although i forgot to include the timestamps of the logs.) and explained to him what happened.

Now he accused me of editing the logs. He said you can not attack a commissioned officer in fedspace. I looke and being dead he is at 987 EXP. Well duhhh. I guess he was over 1000 exp.

Enough ranting and raving. Only reason I put this up and will do else where is that he says he is going to spread the word that Coastgames.com sysop is a cheater.

Sorry to here this oldtimer... but it's the same ole same ole, some NOOB crying of cheating cause he's not that great at the game.[:p] And I call him a NOOB he might haved played inthe old days. But if just started playing again, then he has no grasp on how much the game has advanced.[:)] Script/Helpers/ and the way people think about the game has changed so much compared to the old BBS days. So OeagleO how about learning to play the game and getting yourself on a true connection before you cry to the sysop a player is better then you![;)]
There's plenty of website out there you can learn tactics from. Not only that they explain the rules! the forums here also help in that field. We don't Want to hear you've played along time ago... IT doesn't matter how good you were, back then. It's Now and any Vet now days will wipe the floor Clean With You, for the simple fact you are a NOOB again. Read the logs and pay attention to what the heck you are doing... And of all most importants LEARN THE FREAKIN RULES OF THE GAME FIRST BEFORE YOU GO CRYING WOLF!
Enough Said....
And oldtimer we know you run a respectable server anyone out there that has played on your server knows this and will defend it.[8D]

It's pretty hard for Oldtimer to cheat and help himself in respect to playing games, seeing that he doesn't even play them!! I know I was guilty of Newbie mistakes after being gone for 6 years, but get real anyone gone even 1 year needs to relearn the game and realize that their mistakes are theirs and no ones but theirs alone...
There is no reason for any player of any level to not play at http://www.coastgames.com

OT you really dont ever have to worry about peeps calling you a cheater, I have played with you and played on CoastGames, the time you give to TW is selfless and really makes playing TW FUN.

You have always been top on my list of sysops, and #1 to run a future cash game.

Keep up the great work

The worst part.. Coastgames is one of the nicest servers around... you have freaking newbies with no clues coming up with all these "rules" and then getting mad when we don't play by them. Dang it.. our corp had that kill... it was a good one and we don't even get the proper credit for it!

I have always played by the rules of a server.. if there is a time limit, I respect it.. but to have some ill-informed noobie harrass me because we have a script running is totally unfair... or to have others complain that I shouldn't kill them because I was good at the moment.. does that mean I can't kill someone else unless I am evil? or that I don't dare leave the keyboard and have a script running?

For all the NOOBs out there.. learn the game first... don't accuse the sysop of cheating, and don't berate other players that are following the rules just because they play differently from you. Don't quote non existent rules to us, please.... If we all played like you, this would be one sorry game.

I hear you. We had that too. Some player came in 4 days ago, and took over my homeworld. Then I came in, traded and made cash then got enough money to gain some fighters back and a descent ship and reclaimed my planet. And he accused me of using TEDIT for myself. Then he destroyed himself. We're only a 4 node game server, and I opened it up to basically have a spot for the new players, but this person was quite irrate about it.

You're right, what we SysOp's go through..

Yeah, players shouldn't do things like emailing other players to complain about them blocking fed with figs, right?

I just find your attitude of "don't get mad because something did something you couldn't handle" somewhat humorous after you whined about me locking down fedspace in a league game.

And have you noticed I have grown since then? Also, I never whined once about you locking down fedspace. I was commissioned and in a havoc, so I really didn't care. What I did complain about was you muscling me to concede 6 days into the game because you found playing a game out to be boring (game registration was still open when you sent me the first email demanding that I concede to you). You didn't want any competition, and you made that well known.

I have come to learn that league play generally means a lower level of sportsmanship... and also developed my own way of dealing with it.

Your memory obviously hasn't grown. I posted an announcement that I thought the game was over. Having nearly 100% of the figs, all of the cits, all of the colos, and being a 5 person corp against just you lead me to that conclusion. I stated that anyone who disagreed in my evaluation should speak up. At that point YOU emailed ME. At this point my memory is fuzzy about who said what when. I know I explained our domination to you. I know you complained about our tactics. However, to say I muscled you out is a gross exageration. To say I had no interest in playing out the game is also a mistatement. As far as I am concerned once all the competition is dead, a game IS over. However, since the sysop didn't call the game, I played the game for weeks after you left, faithfully taking care of extern and figging the universe. I played that game until everyone not on our corp had timed out of the game. Finally, back on track, if you've grown so much as a player, perhaps you should apologize for the bitching and moaning you did?

My memory is not fuzzy in the least.. I may be old, but I am not senile. You were the one who shipmailed me, demanding that I concede to you. Why should I complain about your blockade when it did not affect me? And yes, your memory is fuzzy. I had entered the game, hoping that playing against players of your caliber would help improve my game.. I do love playing cat and mouse, and had done pretty good with it for those 5 days. At no time did you post any such annoucement - at least nothing that I saw. As I was one of the last active players (only 5 days into the game... the game was open for 7 days), you *assumed* I was just going to concede because you demanded it. You were the one whining and complaining that playing such a game was boring and tedious. I would have been happy to continue and give you something to hunt down, but you prefered otherwise.

Once I figured out that you were not in the game, but just running a keep alive script at the menu, I had little problem in playing. The game did have a time limit, or you would have been in the game on a kill script, I am sure.

Maybe this will jog your memory:

"> While it may be enjoyable for you to hone your skills running and
> hiding, it's somewhat tedious for us to continue playing a game that
> has no real threat. As long as you are playing this game will
> continue. If you want to continue, that's your option. Were this not
> a league game I would just quit playing knowing I had dominated.
> However, so be it."

Hmmm... odd the things you save. Must really be getting old.

Jerry @ Coastgames has ALWAYS demonstrated the
greatest integrity as a sysop... it is a shame
that clueless n00bs will sometimes cry foul
before bothering to even learn from their mistakes or learn more about the game from
each experience - both positive and negative.

They should instead be THANKFUL for playing
on a VERY well maintained server with a
dedicated sysop who works really hard -
almost full-time if you add the hours!!! -
to make it a great experience for everyone
on it.

But hey... what can you do. Ignorant people
will stand up and make their ignorance
known --- the n00b who cried foul about
Oldtimer is just another such person.

OT, shrug it off. The server and games are a privilage to play. ONE of the biggest hurdles in training newbies in TWA is to stop them from crying when things do not go their way. Educating players is job #1 at TWA, and some are threatened by that too...

One of the unmentioned plusses to this man is not just the hours he devotes to his servers, but all the help he gives to other sysops. If I ask a question in the sysop forum, he is usually one of the first to respond and his information is never a put down, but truly helpful. I owe the entire new registration system for Stardock Omega Prime to this man, and he has never asked for one thing in return. We are not elevating him to sainthood here... but, he is truly one of those outstanding examples for other sysops out there.

Severian, maybe we should nudge these players your way, or set up a special game just for them. Give them a chance to play in a more gentle atmosphere until we feel they are ready for a real game.
