You know, it would really be nice if, when modding a game, sysops made sure to also spend the time to change the ship information. In at least one game I'm in, the sysop changed all the ship specs around, but they neglected to change the computer's ship catalog along with it. They just modded the game. That means that you can't be completely sure what you have until after you have bought it, and then you are sporked, because you can't get the original cost back when turning it back in after you have found that it won't suit your needs. Come on, sysops. If you feel that you must change the ships around, at least modify the ships specs screens and stuff...

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the world's not out to get you.

But, but... that means I actually have to work at customizing games. How dare you insinuate I should have to do that!?!

Seriously, I agree with you. Customized ships should have customized ANSI screens for them as well. I used to do custom ANSI screens for any of my edited ships, but then I kind of fell away from going that extra mile because I just didn't have time to. But really there's nothing like having 30 new or edited ships in a game and having an informative ANSI screen for each and every one, as well as planets and alien races. It definitely fills out the game a bit more.

I don't care if they don't have the full ANSI screen re-done. All I want is the corrected numbers so that you can at least make an informed decision about your ship, rather than having to buy every bloody ship and wasting money doing it.

Umm... TWGS automatically generates the most important ship information on the fly, such as combat odds, holds, etc. Anything you see below the ANSI graphic (if there is one) is not part of the ANSI screen. That's all generated by the game straight from the ship settings and should be 100% accurate as far as ship settings.

Then either this person isn't using TWGS, or else they somehow managed to fool the system, because those stats are NOT correct, when considering the actual settings.

Don't quote me, because I could be wrong, but I think the v3 door works in the same manner, creating the outputted ship statistics on the fly. So if you're playing v3 (check the "V" information screen from inside the game for the game version), then the stats displayed should be correct. If not, there's a problem somewhere.

I'll get the screencaps, and post some of the text here. The current ship capabilities(c;) shows the stuff right. If I go to the computer and get the ship specs, it shows me a different set of specs for the ship I bought at the shipyards.

sometimes when a ship costs more than 9mil, the prices can go out of the screen. I think that the ship spec screen can only supprt ship prices up to 7 digits.
Also, Rave, if u like good effort in ship settings, u should check out Pinky's server at twgs.exiled.org port 23. This guy has worked REALLY hard to edit not only the ship specs, but also the ANSI pictures AND the ship description texts. His games usually come with at least 10 Alien Races (all star trek) including the Breen, Vulcan, Bajorans, Cardassians, Ferrengi, Klingon, Dominion, Borg, Romulans AND Species 8472(planet destroyer is kewl ). Not only are his SD ship edited with graphics and all, but also the Alien ships too in the library. Im testing out his latest games now(an unlimited) and as soon as he's ready hes gonna bang it publicly. I think ANYONE who likes lotsa aliens and good effort into the settings should check this place out.

Thanks cfposi.. Its good to know that my work isn't going unnoticed.. some of my ansi graphics still need some fix up and some work but my games are all really coming along.. and i really wish that the AI module for the aliens was complete.. but ohh well.. time will tell... I've really tried to keep the original intent of game play the same. so all standard ships and planets are still available..
