player harrassing me, his handle porthos, also known as arthos,
anyways he was playing on my server about a week ago, and anyways i
ended up banning him for duping, now he is posting in the eis forum,
trying to turn people away from my server, saying i am unfair and
stuff like that, yeah so i dont allow dupers.. has anyone had any
problems with this guy, site ops. i'm having a real problem with
him, cause when i post a new game, he posts after it bashing me and
trying to turn everyone away. and well i dont know what i should do
about it. i should just ignore him, but i dont want him turning
people away because of a lie made up by him.

You can try contacting his ISP and asking them to stop his outgoing harrassment. Inform them the only alternative you would have would be to ban all IP addresses similar to his (since those will be their paying customers they will at minimum send him mail asking him to stop)
[gold] online harassment is serious. You never know what sorts of folks are using the internet. Print all you can and save it. Take that to the police and let them handle it...{/gold}

well it was not that kind of harrassment, more or less he was just trying to turn people away from my server for his own made up little reasons, but thanks to rick mead, his posts have been removed and he has been warned.

you're right, the guy is a major duper. He was caught on Hardcoded and on several other's I have played on. Usually, contacting his ISP takes care of that problem. If enough people see here on EIS that the guy is a well known duper, then they won't pay him much mind. He's duper scum.

You could always try the fun type of revenge in this situation, which is to find out where he plays, get some friends and #SD# him repeatedly. That should quiet him down. Tell him that if he deosn't stop duping, the u will have people on every server waiting to kill him.
If not, do like the others said, complain to the ISP and post his I.P. hell I wouldn't let him on my server.

I have pretty much forgot about him, i'm not gonna sink to his level and play his games, if he wants to dupe at another server let him, but i will go as far as letting other sysops know about him, so they can keep an eye on him, and catch him in the act.

First day I played with him I knew he was a duper. Arthos and Porthos. Come on, unless there really close pals. I was logged in on Marious's board the day that he was banned. Here's what I saw that happened.
(Remember this is the day his Eygyt game was banged)
Arthos and Porthos and I believe his brother. Were running around killing everybody that stepped into the game. Now the sysop was going under the handle Osirus and was asking Arthos or Porthos, which ever he was playing at the time why he felt he had to do this and if he could just chill out and give people a chance to play. (Attacking someone when they first log in is kindda cheesy, but legal)Porthos got all offend and started yelling at Osirus and cursing him (Not realizing that he was sysop) and Marious zapped him offline. I then informed him of his alter ego, and he said he kindda of figured. So he was about to ban the whole ISP from the board when he realized I was from his ISP as well. Shortly after his brother (or what claimed to be his brother) logs in and starts cursing Marious again calling him every name and a cheater and this and that for banning him.
That's what I witnessed. And as some of you know, me and Marious have bumped heads a few times... but the man was just to ban him in my book. I don't agree with Marious rules, but it's his server. And if you violate his rules, then you loose the priviledge of accessing his server.

I don't understand why, when you put a notice at your site that says no duper's allowed that this does not stop them. There are plenty of site's to play at and if this is the sysop's rules you should follow them. If I had a dime for everytime I caught a duper and he said oh my brother or Father or mother or sister or roomate likes to play, well Id have about ten bucks. Duping is playing more than one player from a single I.P address, but what if you have more than one Ip on a network? Your sure the person is duping but you can't really do anything more than ask them to play only one char. I have done this and the people always seem embaressed that you caught them and they don't come back. Duper's, you should try corping with real people, sure there is a chance that you will get burned but most of the time the people you meet will teach you alot and then you wont need to Dupe. What do you think? If you have more than one Ip address Like I do, you are paying extra for the extra Ip adress(s), so should you be allowed to play a char from each address?

I don't think so dude, duping isn't only the IP address...that is just the way to catch them in the act. Duping is the act of playing two characters simultaneously. It isn't fair to use two accounts, and u show bad technique if u do it. I have seen sysops go as far as to Ban 2 players because a son logged into his fathers account to help himself. They were two seperate IP's, but the son was still duping cuz he was using an account that wasn't his own to hep himself.
It's really simple...play one account, don't dupe...or an honest trader will hand u a shiny new POD.

I agree with Cfposi. Play one account and one account only. In almost ten years of playing Trade Wars, only once have I come accross a server where having two accounts was perfectly legal. Its just better all around to play one and only one account.

Apparently this guy has been getting around. Has anybody bothered to post his ip addresses in the game op/sysop forum for them to see? On a more personal note, If I see him I will kill him on the spot.

On the topic of duping, what happens if, in fact, a father and son are playing from a DSL line, and that father and son pair have only one IP, but they happen to be two different people, and happen to be in the same corp? I know it seems messed up, and I know that it looks like duping, but every so often, two family members will actually want to play together and work together. Perhaps it's not always a bad thing to do, if and only if they are realy two people.
Please note: I am NOT condoning the act of duping. I am NOT suggesting that people who are actually duping and claim that it is actualy a father/son pair are necessarily telling the truth. Merely that some common sense needs to be used here.
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the world's not out to get you.
