Nice shot folks, but as one persons tag says, You've been busted. Everyday for X number of days, keep building planets at SD. Each day, Planetary mass becomes unstable and a planet will run into another planet. One day, a planet will collide with SD. It doesn't happen all at once and it takes a few days for it to happen but it will happen. The first day, you can put 4 million in there but it
may or may not affect SD. Just like, if you put in 20 planets, all 20 don't run into each other the first day. Each day, one will run into another or maybe none will run into each other. This will continue until there are the maximum number of planets allowed in any given sector. SD is not immune.

Okay .. since this happened let me ask you this .. Did you "rebuild" stardock? .. Because someone would have needed to rebuild it.. and radiation liftime only ticked about 48 hours ago! .. so how did you rebuild stardock???? BUG usage .. I still think your on crack cause you seen me do something that I didnt do .. I guess that I am telling a lie and I marked all of my sectors as expored from the cim prompt while I was at it hu..

I notice that when you people are caught with your pants down, you immediately go into name calling. Well, you are busted. DW knows this but it's one of his little trade secrets. Otherwise, why would he have placed 9+ planets at SD. It was nice to watch but hardly worth doing in the first place.

Okay .. Your new .. so i'll "help" you ..

For building this planet you receive 25 experience point(s).
and your alignment went up by 10 point(s).

I didnt feel like upgrading a port .. with such low regen I wasnt bothered about ports! .. so I did that for my comission .. only had to launch 50 planets ..

quote:
There was conversation in here about wondering how some people could take out SD early in the game. This is how. Just as soon as I got the planets down to only 5, SD reappeared. Not 6 or 7 but 5. Now unless the game had it where only the one player could see it, it wasn't there to dock. This is a hole or bug in the program that needs to be fixed. It's too easy to do.

No this is no a way to take out SD .. keep thinking about that farm boy ..

I'me asking for something now .. that's part of the cap showing this problem! .. You sent this bug to JP .. You've labled me as a bug user .. and as such I think it's your DUTY to PASTE the part of the log that shows this bug! .. If you cant paste the problem then how did you show it to JP ..

That's easy enough to overcome. Just ether probe the course you wanna take, there are your sectors and your complete CIM. In fact, in a 5,000 sector game, if the ether probes cost, say, 3,000 credits, you could probe the entire universe by firing a probe into each sector individually, 100.. 101.. 102.. etc. with a mere 15,000,000 credits.

That's true. But you don't always have 15 mil at the start of a new game, and soon there will be figs scattered everywhere.

Suddenly you're Busted!

As I said, you get caught in a lie and you begin name calling. Little One, you been Bagged. Now, the others will also do this
when it benefits them.

Visit slbbs.com port 2002 for a rip roaring game of TW where you also have to battle the Klingons, Romulans, Orians and the Borg.

Okay, this isn't the Smack Talk forum. Play nice, guys.

Destruction of StarDock through a planetary collision is not a bug that I've ever heard of. If it was, you couldn't find a StarDock in any game anywhere. Information on bugs proliferates too quickly through the TW grapevine. This has never been reported to the Beta Team to my knowledge, and Doctor Who has been an excellent resource for the Beta Team as far as gameplay bugs go, but I've never seen him use a bug in a game and I've never seen him share bug information with people outside of the Beta Team. He's just not that kind of player, or that kind of person for that matter.

(Even if he does get on my case about my posts.)

This whole mess can most likely be attributed to a couple things.

1) A absolutely brand new bug no one has been aware of previously. If that's the case then I'm sure Doctor Who's actions were not intentional. He's got a solid reputation for reporting bugs to the Beta Team as soon as he finds them.

2) Misinterpretation of game data. An overloaded sector with 50 planets could lead a person to believe that StarDock is no longer in the sector. Same with a sector overloaded with ships. If StarDock was destroyed, it could have been rebuilt either by the ServOp docking at the destroyed port, or if the Radiation Lifetime cycle rolled around. Unless either of these two conditions are met, StarDock doesn't rebuild itself.

Just my input on the matter. Regardless of what the circumstances are, this forum exists for ServOps and players to get technical assistance with the TWGS/TW platform, not for arm wrestling over who's right and who's wrong. A little debate I think is a good thing, but when the debate turns into ad hominem attacks, it's time to move on to different subjects.

heh

Hard for me to be mean now that you said something nice ..

I'me just fed up with the fact that such a thing is reported as a bug .. there are several bugs that need to be addressed .. and with jp getting false reports like this i can understand how he has a hard time deciding what to fix .. and what not to fix ..
Plus it gets under my skin that someone with more tw exp than any of us .. doesnt know how to port at SD when it's off the screen ..

sigh

This topic has been moved to the smack talk forum. This is a heads up fopr those involved with this topic that this type of posting will NOT be tolerated in the TWGS, Trade Wars 2002 and GOLD support forum. If you want to act like juveniles either do it in the SMACK TALK forum or do it in the yahoo groups. In the future posts and or members may just be deleted, we've never had to babysit this forum and we won't start now.

Just means that I've saved up a "be mean to Doctor Who" card that I can play at any time in the future. Call it an investment for the future.

Can't take it personally, Doctor Who. The only thing that irks me anymore is being called a cheat. Whether its being accused of being Stonewall in disguise (happened twice in two different games on Deep South), or by players who can't fathom being in an ISS on the ninth day of a 250 turn game (let alone the fourth!), cheating accusations just get my blood boiling.

Lol .. You repied to me .. I can FEEL the love ;) .. Firstly I'me not a nob ;) .. You'll find that ppl like you as much as they like me "yea so we are both disliked eh" .. If you started posting random lies that were vividly wrong .. someone would snatch your Butt up and tell you about it .. He called me out for something I didnt do .. and for something that didnt even happen .. I cant sit by and take that ;) ..
look back in the past too .. at how many locked topics and arguments that user has caused .. I dont care if you agree with me or not .. I have nothing against you really "might not like you" but I have nothing against you .. but he pissed me off .. and he is WRONG ..

Rick... I started this topic in earnest to further discussion about the problems ztm causes and takes away from the game... it would have been nice to have you moderate the offensive posts rather than move this to smack talk.

now i feel that this topic is dead , thanks to a few people who cannot put petty bickering aside.

It was a good topic, and exchanges of that type are not only acceptable, but they are requested... please feel free to repost the discussion in the TWGS / TW/ Gold support forums, if it gets out of hand again everyone involved already knows the stance of the moderators...

but when these changes happen .. scripters will be able to mod scripts .. to not get a full map .. but to get a partial map with a "best probe" region set up .. and they'll probe 1/4 what you do .. and have a fairly strong map .. after that you'll ask for ZTM to be added back ..

Not if it's done the way I suggested, where the autopilot does not display routes or distances and hitting CF only plots routes through explored sectors.

Suddenly you're Busted!

So your basically saying, Hide the plot for routes that are unexplored but once explored it will show the route. The game would have a ZTM of course for it's own internal purposes, but not available to the player until the player has visited the unexplored region. I understand what your saying, but would your ship have to actually pass thru the sector to be considered explored, or would a simple probe do the trick.

An eprobe would do the trick.
