i just bought twgs gold a week ago and have been fooling around with it to get the feel of it. i have banged 8-10 20k games just to see how they looked withthe edits. in all the games there were no bubbles found by swath and very few dead ends. i have varied the bubble size and number of them. what am i missing or doing wrong? what are the best settings to get the most bubbles with only 1 way in? i have about 10 different game ideas i want to develope and hopefully someone will host them.

Did you run a ZTM before using the bubble finder in SWATH?

yes i did ztm first. usually most games have them. this is what puzzles me. the only other thing is that i recently up grade to the new swath, but that shpuldn't make a difference. i am ZTMing a game on a different server to make sure it is not the swath. thanks for your imput - i know man y times it's the simple things we overlook that makes the difference.

Yup, what Slim said. But in Swath, you want to go to Commands, CIM Download, Sector Warps. That should populate Swath's warp data perfectly.

Now, with Swath, when you use the Bubble finder, make sure you are setting your Max Size greater than your gold bubble size. Even then, I've seen occasions where Swath misses the gold bubbles, but its been awhile and could've been operator error.

But if you set BigBang to create gold bubbles, you can pretty much bank on them being there. Of course, you could always write you own bubble finder ;)

The bubbles are there if you told them to be there in bigbang. The main issue is probably that SWATH's algorithm is abysmal at discovering very large bubbles, and the gold bubbles *start* at a size of 100. I've seen a maybe 25% success rate on SWATH finding bubbles over a size of about 10-15. Maybe it's just me.

For one way in and out, just set "Minimum bubble links" and "Maximum bubble links" to 1. That should produce bubbles with one gate.

To create an observer, just initialize a new user (option U then choose an empty record and select option A) then change Observer (option Y) to yes. When logged in as an observer you have access to full CIM data.

daaaaaaa - de=dead end!!! boy do i feel dumb

i did that and swath didn't pick up any ... even as low as 3 sectors deep. i think there is a problem with the new swath, because i never had this problem with the old one. i should prob get TWX. is that still available and if so where. are there any good ZTM scripts out there?

Ohh, ok for SWATH you probably just want to use your local address '127.0.0.1' this will link SWATH locally to TWX. For TWX you will need to setup a database for each game you play, (same as you do for SWATH) in TWX you will place the IP address to the TWGS server (i.e. TradeWarsIsGreatTWGS.COM) or whatever it is. You will also want to make sure the sectors and port numbers are correct and give them matching names, the port is usually '23' but can be '2002' also. For the name I always use the name of the server. You can also put the game letter there so that if you play different games on the same server you will not get them confused later on. Also for TWX you will want to make sure you have 'RECORDING' on and also make sure you have your logging on for CAP files (if you want to keep CAP files for reference that is.)

To setup your TWX, you just start it up and then right click the icon that is in your windows tray and then go to the setup and look through all the tabs and enable/disable what options you want, you will need to do this for each database you create (or for each different game you play.)

To connect them both make sure you have preloaded the corresponding databases both in SWATH and TWX and then click on connect in SWATH, which will link-up to TWX and then press connect in TWX which will connect to the actual server. Keep in mind that TWX sees everything SWATH sees as it is passing the information to SWATH, but for TWX to retain this information you have to have 'RECORDING' enabled. Also you can only make one TWX connection at a time, but you can run as many SWATH's as you're computer can handle.
