Now mega corping there’s a banable offence.
not to sound too much like Harley, but...
If there is a rule against duping on the server, then it should be followed.
Lizard and Crimson Tide broke the rule.
The Sysop asked for help. He got help. Dupers were deleted.
End of story.
The merits of duping and megga-corping have been debated over and over and over for as long as I've been playing TW. That debate belongs in the open discussion forum, not here. And I'd be happy to debate it there [:D]

Traitor,
I was responding to Zilla’s post about reporting it to every sysop who has a server so they can pre-ban these people because these are evil wicked people who dupe in games.
I don’t want to debate the morals of it and yea if there’s a rule posted about it you should follow it but to post every incident of duping on EIS so everyone knows that this person is a dupe come on give me a break.
lightfoot asked for help we helped him make his decision but the idea of reporting people as dupers makes me feel like what’s next am I now going to have to answer to the EIS police.

Yea it might not be there view, I for one follow the rules set down by the sysop no mater what my opinion is.
I’m really sorry everyone, I was board and need to drum up some controversy to fill my day with but Tratior slaped me back to my senses. Although, I can see it happening a whole section of the EIS forums where you report peeps who are cheaters and dupers and that’s it, the EIS police are coming to a server near you.

Hey,
East side near Sahara/Hollywood.
Duping is not allowed at tw3003. There are alot of places that allow dupes, no reason to ruin the games here. Duping is plain old cheating when it is clear that duping is not allowed.

most of the good servers don't allow it, except for special games, the other servers need better sys ops, I find one allowing dupes and I delete them off my list. In my main list of servers, I have 9, I have other servers too, but only use them when bored... I don't have Wow...lol

One Thing I seen someone on my board duping he was in two seperate corps at the same time. That to me is cheating. The player could pick which corp he wanted and then just know all the weaknesses and set up the other corp so it was easily invaded.

The game I was running before my system crashed was my first attempt at setting up and hosting a game. I purposely didn't post it because I was basically running in learning mode. As there were only a few players, and they were players i knew well, I did allow dupes. Since most of the players played blue and I needed to learn what the good settings were for red I actually encouraged a couple of them to create a red player and play that role as well (though it didn't help me much with improving the red settings and I still need help there). Since I am most likely going to have to re-bang the ^^&$%^$ game after I get the server back up I am going to be dis-allowing dupes in future games as, once I post my twgs, there will (hopefully) be more folks playing here. I don't want the drain on resources that one person running multiple players concurrently can cause to effect people's ability to enjoy the games. I tend to favor unlimited turn games which makes duping relatively unnecessary for day to day game playing though I know some people still do it and some create dupes specifically for using when invading/attacking which I don't consider to be fair or ethical. This wasn't a problem in the past game which was basically just a few old tw acquaintances and game consisted mostly of trading, building, and killin aliens. Am certain once I open up and post the new game that there will be players who will attempt to dupe and I will be watching for them. I used to go through the log daily to check IP's anyway so I could tell whether my bf was logging in from home, work, or elsewhere, so being in that habit already will make it easy to spot and delete dupes.

There is no easy way of proving that someone is duping, but one could try to contact the parties involved and see whats up. aafter all their IP's are showing on the server and it is easy to get the ones involved and ask them all WTF and see whats going on, like someone said earlier some offices use the same IP's and some areas use a nat and some people use the same ip from home and more than one person plays TW, I have more than one person that plays TW from my IP and I do let it be known, and when asked I will let the sysop talk to me and the others that play from my IP. But as a common rule I get ahold of the sysop ahead of time and let him/her know there is more than one person playing from my IP, and if they need some sort of verification, then do as they request for verification, and I also do the same for my server and respect others as well but I do not ban until there is no proof on one not duping then I ban, but give the parties a chance to prove their innocence, or catch them in a lie, then banning will commence. Just a thought, and I do monitor my server for duping and when caught, they get the chance to prove they aren't duping, if no proof then bye-bye.

I am having my doubts about a user that tells me he has different people playing from his house. Wierd tho how they ONLY log on at same times, and two of the 3 players have same PW. I can make it so only one IP is allowed, but this will affect the one who are not duping and have others playing. This way I know people won't dupe.
I ask people to email me if they have different people playing. And some have, and when I asked this other player he was rude about it. I do post on the log-on screen to let me know. And This time No questions will be asked. Done Deal.
Games are about to re-banged and if I do not get email FOR EACH GAME accounts will be deleted and IP banned.

I have played many games in the past where there were husband/wife teams playing the game and were using same computer. Jewels and Black Widow seem to be the best example. They were never on at same time as they were sharing computer and ISP. That pair usually asked gameops in the BBS versions of games they played for permission and most times were granted permission via various arrangements including voice verification by sysop/gameops. IMHO if there might be a question about duping due to same server and ISP then those who have that sort of arrangement it is between the gameop and the players. BTW...anyone wondering who they are might ask Animal, zep, Founders Fury and a few others since they were playing and teaching others about the game about 14-15 years ago...
