I have a future development to share to see if it is feesable.

In the TWGS editor, under Alien editor, you can specify the name file of that race, the rank file, and the ship file.

In the Ship editor, is it possible to create a feature where you can create a ship class, and specify a specific name file for the ship, rather than in the Alien editor, where you can only specify 1 file. For example, we've created ships with IKS or IKV in the name, but want the IKV for specific ships. So an alien spawned will start with a ship named IKV Ship001 and another alien in same race has a ship with IKS Ship001.

This way, we can not use ship name in the Alien editor portion, but have it read from the ship editor field. If there is nothing in that one, then it could take a name from the one specified in the Alien editor section.

I can see the need for your request. At this point, though, I'd really hate to go messing around with that stuff. I'm trying to wind v3 down and shift over to v4 and beyond.

I understand. It was a hopeful wish :) Just wanted to make the game a bit more realistic in some avenues. My CoSysOps have put a lot of thought into the game development on our site and I only made the request on their behalf as they saw the potential.
