Is this a bug or feature ?
Player lays a planet in an alien sector
and let a little time pass before comming back
to find they are all full of products.
Tested in version 3.12

Here are the facts :
Will this happen
In version 3.09 Dos Tradewars server - No
In version 3.11.25 TWGS - No
In version 3.12 TWGS - Yes

So is this a feature or bug ?
I remember reporting this in version 55 or 56
and thought it had been fixed and didn't use
it because I was under the assumption it was a bug.

Now I'm testing a game edit "monopoly"
28 alien races and had a chat with a player who claimed
to have a bunch of maxed planets and figs.
I said no way .. I've worked my Butt off trying to fill
my planets , while tera has always been bare.
I could see no way he had done this , I have spent alot of
time in game and he has not.

So he has just about got all alein planets and declared his victory.
I'll give it to him , heck ..I haven't even tryed to invade.
My job was to check edits and see how things work.
But since he has disclosed the use of such tactics I feel I should ask
J.P. and all others ; is this a bug in need of a fix
or a feature that we players should adapt to ?

they will fill products, but i have never seen them fill colos. (if it has a cit they will put cash in it, and lvl2+ cit figs, but that does you no good) they dont give u figs with lv1 or none. so i dont see how it is all that advantageous for him unless they upgrade fast and cheap and he has a bunch of planets with 10M ore and are lvl5 or 6.

I appreciate you not naming names Vid, but honestly I don't care if people know it was me you were referring to.

One thing you should understand is that even though Terra is empty, the alien planets are LOADED with colonists. I set them up that way. One planet I took had 300,000 colonists in the ore group. I've got nearly 1 Billion cols.

The product appearance on planets claimed by aliens has always been there, it's just that it only happens when the aliens hit "full strength."

Since a lot of the aliens in Monopoly hit the full strength level at around 10 days, after about 10 days, when they claim a planet, at externals that planet will fill with product. I've seen it in every version that I've played, going back a very long way.

Why you haven't seen it might simply be because the aliens in the games you were playing were set to go full strength in like 120 days.

Monopoly is an experiment. The concept was to have a game that was all about capping aliens and taking their planets. I thought that would be fun. Evidently not many feel that way because it's not being played at all wherever it's put up (so far).

The game should have been over within 10 days, the way it's set up, if people had played it. There's no way the aliens could have lasted against 10 or so players. Especially when some of the alien's ships are worth 100,000,000 in trade :)

It was a fun idea, and I know a few who had fun playing it, but so far the popular opinion is Monopoly is not worth playing.

We'll see what happens in the future.

I have had them put figs on lvl 1's for me before.

They will put figs, product, and occassionally cash (as long as they are ID #1 based aliens). I'm theorizing that it would have been difficult to program into the alien's behavior to differentiate between their assigned planet and a planet that they just claimed that was lying around. (just a guess). If my guess is correct, than, common sense dictates you have either two choices, either have them not stock their planet at all, or have them stock planets that belong to them.

Just guessing.

i have a very easy solution:
don't play games with aliens. they aren't as fun anyway :)

I'm from the old school of trade wars where there were always aliens and the best one , although I (and corpies) have only captured 1 or 2 Ferrengi OverLord Scorpion ships.
Now that is fun and difficult (needs knowlegde of ferrengi ships).
(So much for fun [;)])
I like aliens in my games cause they raise the random chances of aliens clearing players fighter grid.

Well please continue this poll .. I'm interested in knowing how you feel about this feature/bug.
BTW as a side note , if you like free resources
maybe some sysop/gameop should make a game with all planets
maxed on resources and see how fun that will be to play.

I believe in equality .. everyone has same chances ..so share info
and see who is smarter in there use of it [:P]

What helps is when you make a new planet for them, put it in same sector and give it same name....or maybee not but thats what ive always done.

ok, normal ferrengi i will give you, but when u get 2,3 or 4 (or 28) aliens, and you have even a decent grid, you get spammed like a mofo and that is annoying as hell.

I annoyed you slim? My work here is done :) Just kidding.

Yes, it can be annoying but it's annoying to everyone equally, I wanted to create a game that could not be locked out by gridding scripts. It sounds and looks like I succeeded in a very big way.

evidently, or so I'm being told, I'm wrong about the planet filling at externals. It's just that I have found them empty before externals, and then filled some time after externals. might be just a coincidence. Anyone else notice this?
