Does anyone know what is causing this? It's occurring on SEP's new server in the Monopoly game. Perhaps he could provide for us the error codes. When I go to attack aliens or their fighters, I get immediately booted from the game, when I come back in the game the attack failed, it's as if it never happened.

oh boy! I think there is a specific thread for posting bugs on the new version. I would suggest finding it and posting these codes. This looks very bad.

It is! There's 28 alien races, one for each monopoly property. You collect their planets and the person with the most monopolies wins :)

Some of their ships are worth a fortune too!

It's all just in fun.

A better way is just make 28 planets and put figs on it and around it make it rouge for all that matters....

Heh, ya if you are the sysop and you want to do all that work, the point of the edit is that you can import it and run it. As for it being "a better way" I respect your opinion. It is ONE way to do it. The other is to create 28 alien races, with most of the races limited to 10 aliens, and the stronger properties limited to around 25. Their spawn rates range from weak (for baltic and medditerranean) to outrageously powerful (for Boardwalk and Parkplace). The planets as well range from "crappy" to "ridiculously rich."

It's a game for people who "like" killing aliens. Evidently Stryder wouldn't like the game much :)

its strider not stryder there is a stryder here and its not me hehe....That sounds like more work to me when someone could run a script to make those planets

One thing to keep in mind when making edits, the more alien races you have, the larger the performance hit on your server.

what sounds like more work? There is no work, you just bang the game and the aliens make everything. The work is already done. No need to write a script at all, hence, my way is far less work, your way, you gotta write a script, my way, I edited them in and a person downloads a twa file and walla!

Yes, first thing i noticed being that I have a 333mhz with 256k ram. In the game description I believe I told the sysop he has to have a large system. I'm hoping one of you gurus can help me calculate "minimum requirements" for this particular game some day but I can't get any of you to come test the game out for me :)

In general, you will probably get people who are interested in the edits who will be willing to come test it. I know there are a large number of people who probably wouldn't play in a highly alien edited game. So the people who will come and test are probably not the people who will know the "minimum requirements." Although I could see using Strider's idea as an interesting edit idea for a game.

A good script writer could easily implement Stryder's idea with no work at all. I originally would have gone with that, since I used to do this very thing on my bbs. I also suggested it to "Echo" years ago when she was running Total Eclipse, and she ran several tournaments like this, with seeded planets, and whoever captured and held the most planets until the end of the game won.

I would have done an alternative Monopoly this way if I could write scripts. Since I can't, it would be a lot of work for a sysop to go in and create 28 planets, make them unique, assign them the description files I've created, and make them exactly like I describe them in the description ansi's.

It was much easier to create the aliens and have them make the planets. Plus, I find it is VERY fun to play in this game with all these aliens, but that's just me, I'm not a serious gridder.

To each his own. I've been playing the game on Sep's system, and it is a blast!
