I've got one for you all! I like to move Stardock next to fed space. Many do. You simply find a sector off of one of the first 9 sectors (2 through 10) and then using option H change the location of Stardock to that sector.

I encountered an odd problem doing this. Let's say stardock was originally sector 1285, you moved it to sector 18674. Now, Stardock is in the new sector but the game is showing another Stardock in 1285! The old Stardock is NON functional, but it is there!

I literally had to go in the game, go to the old Stardock, Blow it up, then go to the editor and manually elminate the sector title and Fed Space Beacon. (While I was at it I removed the debris and changed the Port number to Zero).

That was a real odd one :)

I have worked with moving ports quite a bit, you cannot just assign a new sector number to a port and have it move. You have to remove the port from the existing sector first, then add it to the sector you want it in. Then you still have to remove whatever else you wanted removed from the original sector. If you do it the way you did you will always end up with one port that works and one that doesnt.

The easiest way I've found to "move" SD is to leave it where it is and just edit warps.

Harley is right , without currupting game data , it is best to move warps.
This is how I did it in PortFixer , a twx script.
Only one warp was eliminated from Tera's (6)warps and moved StarDock
Location into the warp data.

Script is available at my Hints & Tips page.

I only ever saw the ghost port thing happen once. All other times I simply just assign stardock a new sector in the general editor and it works fine.
